- this was fun! We were in Australia and I got up and played At Dawn They Sleep at Soundcheck wth the SLAYER guy's. This is my favorite song of theirs and I enjoyed doing this. I have to say my memory of the song was about 75%, I had listened to it a few times prior. Great band and a Great bunch of dudes.

i saw him once after a show at the Worcester palladium and wanted 2 get his autograph but was told by security sorry charlies not signing 2nite as he scurried on 2 the tour bus.got scott ians with no problem as he came back off the bus 2 say hi 2 everyone.not impressed with charlie.

When I was a kid playing drums in the late 80's, I could play most of the available Metallica catalog pretty well. I thought I was pretty bad ass...until I started working on the Anthrax, that is. Thanks for the ass kicking Charlie, it was humbling.
Mr. Charlie Benante your incredible drums parts in "Nobody knows anything" caused in our school times extremely angry argues about "This is living man playing or this is drum machine?", "This is impossible". But i stand on that Charlie Benante just a great drummer and can do almost impossible things and now i know i was right. Thank you from other generations, you defenitely left a mark in history of humanity

Charlie Benante is one of my favorite musicians. His Silver Linings album was my favorite pandemic album. He's also an all time great drummer, along with Lombardo, Peart, Hoglan, and more.

I've always admired your drumming and hearing you paired with Slayer is a rare treat. Thanks for posting this! I can liken it to hearing Lombardo play with Metallica when he filled in for Ulrich at the '04 Download.

That was killer! Even if you only knew it 75%, there was absolutely zero in there that stood out as a mistake. Random note - my favorite Charlie drumming moment - the end of "What Doesn't Die" when you're just cruising along with insane double bass at the end and I'm thinking "he's gotta be tired"...and then it gets FASTER. And never loses that killer groove. And then you nailed it live all 6 times I saw you guys on that tour.
I saw Charlie with Pantera in Milwaukee. Wow! Amazing to hear Pantera stuff live again and Charlie was amazing. I believe that Charlie and Zakk were the only two that could handle a job like that. Thank you Charlie for your service. You have inspired me sence the fist time I heard Indians. That blew my mind when I was a kid by the way. Still does.
That is interesting overhead mic technique with the condensers aimed up at the cymbals. But it makes total sense if you think about it. Great drumming btw, Charlie. You’ve long been one of my heroes.

Seeing you with Slayer there reminds me of that disappointing day in Leipzig 2019, where you played the second to last German gig of Slayer's farewell tour. My ticket said it begins at 8 pm, and arrived a bit late at 19:50. Heard some music outside the venue and thought it was the soundcheck... but it was Anthrax playing the end of their show. When I entered the venue the stage was getting prepared for Slayer. I enjoyed Slayer as always and it was great, but I was a bit sad I missed Anthrax because I'd seen you much fewer times than Slayer and the last time is many many years ago....

On tuckahoe Road , just west of Central Avenue in Yonkers, there was a Metal bar that had unsigned bands come from far away as Boston to play a Set there.🤘🤘

I've only been star struck twice. Eric Clapton and Anthrax. Never before, never since. Jimmy's in New Orleans, Anthrax played with....pardon my old guy brain....Cannibal Corpse and Misfits, if I remember right. Anthrax has always been and will always be my #1.

Whenever me and my Metal Heads talk music and drummers I always toss Charlie’s name into the conversation. I wouldn’t say Charlie is underrated AT ALL….Under-mentioned I would say for sure. Charlie is up there in his playing along par with The Atomic clock , Niko Macbain , Lombardo , Chris Adler and those awesome drummers!
