VAN LIFE PEOPLE NOT WELCOME - VAN LIFE UK - HE'S VERY DISAPPOINTED..

- Van Life UK and we're in Sunny Norfolk! After 10 days of vanlife here and struggling to find places to park, we hoped that we would at least see what the area is famous for.. But, it didn't really happen:( The Norfolk coast is beautiful, amazing beaches, friendly locals and SO dog friendly and we did have a lovely time apart from the camping/parking situation and the lack of wildlife! Next time we come (yes there will be a next time) we know what to expect and what we need to do differently.. It's a shame it's not a little more campervan/motorhome friendly!

The opening to this video was simply gorgeous.
Yeah! Thanks so much.. Norfolk is a really pretty place to film and we do really like it there. We just need to plan more next time as not very van friendly 😅
Welcome (back) to the shot hole of Europe....Not allowed, not allowed, not allowed. No vehicles over 2M. No parking, no parking. £5 fine for stopping at traffic lights. No enjoying the coastline.. not allowed. Seals only show if you've paid to see them. Its not just campervan/motorhome unfriendly its everything unfriendly unless you pay £10/hr to breathe. All run by 'local councils'.
2. suggestions 1. Get that van revved up and heading for Spain ASAP. 2. Don't let there be a 'next time' unless its essential.
.. Oh dear! There’s unfortunately quite a lot of truth in this but I think we need to stay a little more positive and don’t give up hope for the UK😅.. Yes it does feel like you can’t do anything without paying high prices unlike across the channel and there are so many rules in comparison too as far as vans are concerned.. But let’s see what happens when we head north next week and escape the crowds! It’s understandable that things need to be ‘controlled’ more in busy areas.. Spain for example is empty in comparison 😅
@@theexPAWerscome to Scotland. A wee bit more friendly x
@@theexPAWers Well said, very diplomatic & a balanced opinion. The UK is very highly populated, rather different from Spain!
I shouted Expawers from the allotments,I hope I didn't upset Dizzy and Charlie,I'm sorry norfolk councils are so unwelcoming to campervans, you could have parked outside my house.we love all four of you and look forward to Thursdays❤
awwwww, Thankyou Danny! Yes we remember you giving us a shout! Norfolk is beautiful and next time we know we need to plan ahead and book places to stay! ☺️☺️xx
Great vlog again guys well done to the life boat guys for showing you around, we stayed on a camp site in reedham so never had a problem with parking (we got the train to great yarmouth) reedham is a lovely place the little village on the broads was lovely and the reedham inn was very friendly and accommodating great food aswell 😊 so carry on enjoying it and see you in the next vlog, take care the gowerz Portsmouth xx ❤
Isn't there a website/app to let people park on private drives?
It's seal pup season here in Pembrokeshire. Is that anything to do with restricted parking there. Some areas are out of bounds here so people don't bother the pups
Now that was a treat ! I’m local and always wanted to know what that lifeboat is like inside! Bigger than i imagined. Sheringham also has a vintage lifeboat museum which is well worth a visit. Hope you enjoyed your North Norfolk visit.
I miss norfolk for many different reasons, very good video , love to those famous doggies ❤
Wonderful video, really interesting seeing the lifeboat. Norfolk is lovely. Thanks guys 😊👍🏻
Thanks so much for watching..😁
The lifeboat is amazing, fabulous tour.. Lovely little beach huts. Love your hat Nick.
Glad you enjoyed it, we enjoyed being shown around 😊
Lovely shots. Northeast and east coast easier for park ups but inland should be explored. It's a big county, lots of variety, lovely scenery. You'd find wild parking spots inland. Places are very canine friendly too..
We visited once in our Campervan, never again, we even encountered a sign saying no entry to campervans,,, even for turning around in the carpark,,,,, currently watching ❤
To be fair we were told it wasn’t very ‘van friendly’ and they were right, everywhere had height barriers 😅.. Thanks so much for watching.. xx
Very interesting video. Many thanks. It is quite sad the way the UK has gone.
Really enjoyed that lifeboat tour. Great content as always 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, we did too 😊
Hi guy's, Lovely to see Dizzy and Charlie having fun .
Beaches look amazing and nice and clean .
Shame about the parking .
Nice to see the sun too 😎 😀. Have fun guy's xx
When you heading to Scotland ???
Don't want to miss it .
That stone on all the houses is flint. It’s very common in Norfolk. How wonderful you got to see inside the life boat. My mother in law has a name on her boat somewhere. I think we were told it’s on a boat out of Ireland.
Thanks Jayne.. Lovely Norfolk (if you don’t live in your van😂) we really enjoyed the life boat tour xx
I was beginning to think that you wished you had gone west to Wales, but the sun is shining, and the doggies 🐕 🐕 are having fun on the beach. Shame about the lack of park ups.
Cheers 👍 🐸
Wales is fab, we know this but we didn’t know Norfolk! Lovely coast line but plan ahead as parking vans is hard 😊
Thanks for sharing guys. As usual, it’s great seeing you and the doggies. Looking forward to the next video.
awwwww, Thankyou☺️☺️xx
Great video as always guys. The drone shots are stunning. ❤
Great video guys.
I really love the Norfolk coast especially as it’s within easy reach of where I live. Cromer has a bit of everything. Surprised you didn’t see more seals. Best time is November through to January when they are having their pups and then you’ll see hundreds filling the beach.
Glad you got good weather as well.
Brilliant channel. Been following you for years. 🙂👍👍👍👍🙂
Wow the lifeboat is amazing & incredible 💙😮
Yeah, it was lovely to get a tour there😊
So glad you found this lovely beach & Charlie with Desi just had such fun. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Yes it was such a wonderful place as is most of Norfolk, just a shame is so hard to park up if you have a van! 😊
Great video and the drone shots were epic.Sorry you guys missed out on Holkham Beach. Its fantastic. Hope you make it to explore the Norfolk Broads👍
Brilliant visit to the RNLI lifeboat station, all run on donations & 100% dedicated volunteer RNLI crew.
Yes, you are right! Only one guy is paid (the boss/engineer, it’s a full time job for him) everyone else are volunteers, brilliant team of people 😊
Many people have stopped donating to them due to their ferry service.
@@galdessa1 Shame on them.
Lovely vlog again, weather looked amazing. Shame you are having trouble with park ups. Hope it gets better xxx
the reason for the building in flint is both practical and decorative. it will out last most other building materials and it can be shaped and grouped in different shades.
Great vid as always. Loved the lifeboat tour! Uk is so inhospitable towards campers. Yes there are sites to say at and we do at times but they are not always where you want to spend the day and, as you say, just being able to access places in the daytime would be nice at times! So much to learn from France and Spain in particular, but also Italy where we currently are - anyway…. Happy travels 😊
Yes!! Europe is unbelievable in comparison to the UK, it’s very hard to do what you want here in camper, needs so much more planning and you definitely don’t feel as safe when wild camping because of the places available 😅.. Enjoy Italy, can’t wait to get back there soon 😊
Gorleston pronounced Gawlstone! Is really nice we park on the Street near the old Lighthouse and watch the ships go in and out! The Film 'Yesterday' with Ed Sheeran was filmed there at the Hotel! Fakenham Campsite at the Race Course is good! We were at Cromer the other week at West Runton Campsite! Going there again tomorrow. There's a big grassy Carpark West of the Pier over looking the Sea, Nice to sit in the Van looking out to Sea!
Norfolk looks beautiful! Lovely video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Like the Air Ambulance, the RNLI depends almost entirely on donations to fund the lifeboat service, so they should probably have mentioned that while giving you the tour.
Crumpets sun sand and salt air oh my! Glad you found a spot to run the boys.
Oh yeah.. The last beach was great and a lovely day too to end our little tour of the Norfolk coast 😊
Look forward to your vlogs and the UK is wonderful ❤ St Peters and St Paul’s is a beautiful cathedral! I love all the church buildings. Those beach huts are amazing, great postcard stuff!
Thanks so much for watching..😁
Welcome (back) to the UK. Since Covid…. It’s a massive pile of pooh for vans, and motorhomes. Even using sites…with shitey weather added to mix, increased insurance. It’s all just really sad this year ☹️☹️xx
Hi guys. Torquay was like that. Car parks had signs "no campervans". It's the same with dogs not allowed on the beach. `i will never go back there. Apart from that the shops were smelly and homeless people urinating in doorways.
Oh no.. Ok, thanks for the heads up.. It’s hard in parts of England as it’s very busy everywhere, we don’t agree with all the height barriers so you can’t park, no overnight stays we get it but park up for the day like regular cars!? Why not?
We holidayed recently down at Boscombe beach next to Bournemouth. We rented a beachfront lodge which sleeps 6 and has everything you need but what was a surprise was the Cliff top free parking. Lots of campers up there and no time limits. If you’re heading in that direction when you head home it’s well worth a visit the beaches are lovely.
I'm always happy when I see you have dropped another video ❤
awwwww, Thankyou☺️☺️xx
That beach was really pretty
The reason councils block their car parks from camper vans and such is because of the trouble over the years with the travelers who park there for weeks on end and then they have to get a court order to move them on. .
Yes it's true
Blame the courts not the tourists who do respect our surroundings we don't all go to prison if there is a murder we put the criminals away not the many innocent people think about the many fallen who fought for our rights and freedoms don't be selfish
Wow brilliant photos seals ❤
Thank you! Cheers! New Zealand is soooooo Amazing 😊
Hi guys love what you do … did I hear say van said glow plug issue ??? Glow plugs are needed to regen the DFP wen driving not like on old Vinnie just for cold mornings ….
We have always seen campers park at Horsey. Also found so many places that campers can park up. Norfolk have always been so lovely and welcoming.
Oh really? There are big signs at the entrance road to the carpark saying NO camper vans/ motorhomes/ caravans etc.. Do people just ignore these signs then?? Maybe we should have done the same😅.. Also so many height barriers, I’d say it’s definitely not van friendly! But then again there are plenty of campsites around 😊
Great vlog and love your two boys 💚💚💚
Glad you enjoyed it.. Sending love ❤
So enjoy your channel, we both always look forward to watching you, in a none pervy way 😂😂, Norfolk is a lovely place, shame its gone none campervan friendly, lots of love Arlene and Spider
😂😂.. Awwww, Thankyou guys.. Glad you enjoyed the vid 😊
The coast road is right on the seafront at Walcott.
The Norfolk beaches look amazing, thanks for sharing with us👍👍
Oh no, I hate rejection
I tried Winterton-on-sea beach car park and was told 'we don't allow motorhomes' even though my van is only 5m long. I pointed to a VW van same length as mine in the car park and she was adamant that they didn't allow motorhomes! Glad you found a good spot eventually
Beautiful video as always ❤
Thank you!! 😊
Seals at St.Mary's lighthouse, north east, near Whitly Bay....no height restrictions on the car park 👍
Yes, we’ve found a few spots up north we will check out 😊
Lovely weather, it's not raining for a change. Enjoyed the life boat tour, never saw the insides before. Thanks for taking me along
Such pretty scenery. Love the walks on the beach. The doggies love it too.
Haven’t watched this episode yet , i will cant wait.
We think it’s a good one Paul and hope you enjoyed it 😊
Thank you. I enjoyed the lifeboat tour. Beautiful tour of the beaches too.
Here in New England there is just NO place to " wild" park". In fact.. to find even a normal camp ground is almost impossible.
The whole Atlantic coast is pricey and overcrowded. Sooo, don't be too hard on the UK.
People People.. EVERYWHERE 😮
I always marvel at how EMPTY Porugal and Spain are.
Used to live opposite the boating lake in Yarmouth. Glad you were there on sunny day. You saw it at iits best. Lovely to see the dogs running around on Gorleston beach. Hope weather stays kind🎉
❤❤❤❤
If you think the beaches in Norfolk are nice. Wait until you get to Scotland. Seals, dolphins and campervan friendly. I could name many perfect places to stop. Off in my stealth campervan to Scotland in 10 days. Yippee 😊
Can’t wait 😊
Beautiful area. Gorgeous beaches. You would think the park ups would be more plentiful now that summer is done. 🙂👍👍🇨🇦
Nice video, beautiful beach to enjoy. Good thing you’re there off season.
Only time we have been to Cromer was about 46yr ago remember a very calm sea & the trees all light up in fairy lights .
So pleased you found somewhere to stay and that the boys could play on the beach ❤❤❤❤ xxxx
Nice video guys.
Thanks for that.
We love the way you speak English down here. Charming accent.
Cheers from Canada.
Loved the vlog guys ❤
Thankyou so much ❤️ x
Living in Norfolk, i really can't understand why the local and county councils hate tourists so much, but hey it's all about the money isn't it.
It’s a shame that it’s really hard to park anywhere if you have a van.. understand the no overnight stays in lots of places that are busy but not being able to park for a day trip is bizarre and unfair 😊
Unfortunately welcome to the UK
Yorkshire' is considering banning motor homes completely between certain hours
UK is a nightmare gif anyone in a MH
That's why we are moving to Spain or Portugal I want Spain Kathryn wants Portugal can't win lol😅
UK is finnished 68 years we have given to this country
Can't wait to get out starts Friday and we are of
Good for you but it's happening all round the world agenda 2030
Don't blame you at all, we have a lovely country but it's, not a nice place to live anymore.
For the seals you need to go to Blakeney where they bask out on the spit. Pupping time is the best time . Last year we had 2000 seals up on the beaches they were literally everywhere you looked.
Love cromer , when we were there in summer hols, the sea was really blue , had yum fish c chips from Mary Jane, then had yum ice cream , watching the diggers move the big stones around xx
❤ Beautiful Vlog tonight Guys loved the lifeboat very interesting..Thank you😊
Thanks for the information on the parking issues and great vlog 😊
I was there too last year, but I had the fish and chips, and an ice cream,
Also went to Sandringham, there is a camper park
Also the Coasthopper or i think it's called the Coastliner now, basically a bus service that goes back and forth along the coast so you could go a few miles along on the bus and walk back to your campsite along the coastal path through the sand dunes.
Welcome to Norfolk! Can't park at the side of the road, if you do the police f-you-off in the dead of night. Parking for vans/m/homes is not cheap, and the natives are restless and have an air of 'hope winter comes and these people will b-off and leave us in peace'. Nelsons county, which is why he joined the navy.
The reason is that since Covid and lockdown there are too many camper vans and not enough space. Come to Scotland, loads of parking and seals!
These are resort towns that struggle for enough in-season trade as they are not as connected to to the motorway network as other places and they still shoot themselves in the foot by being hostile to the growing camper van use.
Jimmy Carr the comedian was right about Norfolk, I don't go anymore 😂
😂😂.. What did he say??
@@theexPAWers it's on TH-cam, he basically says they're inbreds, it's funny, he doesn't hold back
@@theexPAWers probably something along the lines of in Norfolk the word "wife" and "sister" mean the same thing!!! Quite untrue of course, coming from there myself.
Gorlestone pronounced Sounds like Gawl stn, you think Norfolk does not like camper vans wait until you get to Scotland not signs, but the locals can be very verbal , depending on where you park threatening.
Horsey Gap car park is crazy busy! Campervans are welcomed at Horsey Windmill National Trust carpark though. Go back in late October and walk to the beach to see the seal pups!
Airplane ,ref guys, love ya both 😂
😊😊
You can camp at The Nelson pub at Horsey and walk to a seal viewing area. Great local pub.
Your videos are perfection. It‘s always easy to watch the whole thing, and I honestly look forward to them.
Did I understand you‘re heading to Scotland? That‘s my plan, heading off from Deutschland in exactly 4 weeks… can‘t wait.
Really interesting seeing around the lifeboat
Loved your '08 New Zeeland seal pics!
Great video, I would have an attitude about the parking too. Apparently the local economy doesn't want tourist pounds, so you move on. Charlie and Dizzy are just adorable on the beach.
On your way back go to the longest pier at Southend and take the train down to the end of, and walk back
Wow! A train to the end of a pier!!! That’s got to be worth a visit😊
@@theexPAWers longest pier in the world
Cafes at the end , lifeboat station etc
Train their and back , well worth a visit
Parking is expensive along the sea front though
Sadly those that Ruined it for others , not tidying up after camping, dumping rubbish ( using areas as public toilet 🤢) can fully understand the local people getting Angry, with summer finished Hopefully its more peaceful now .
Yes the councils want money , be nice if they put it back in to the “ Tourism not chase them away .
Looking forward to see where you adventure in my homeland Scotland. ( it’s not always Cold , raining 😜we can get some lovely warm weather in Scotland) Remember few years back we had dreadful weather in Europe and some of my family were sitting in the sun in their back gardens ( scotland ) with high 20’s
Safe travels 🥰
Donna Nook in Lincolnshire is the best for seals, I believe starting end of this month, into next. An excuse for next year! 😂❤ (of course the best name….😘) hugs for all! X
Charlie hates gaps in the pier. So do I, can't look down I get vertigo. That's ridiculous price for a beautiful h hut. What if you paid £75 and then the weather was awful. Good idea having beach huts in Portugal, they could be air b'n' bs.
Thanks Pamela, I know!! I thought that was really expensive too, wouldn’t pay that to hire a shed no matter where it is😮
I went to Scotland yesterday - 25°!!
Practically a heatwave in Scotland 😂
Yes!! We seen on the weather report.. It’s going to be freezing when we get up there next week😊
That was interesting that the lifeboat can be capsized and right itself again!!
Great video Guy's that was a big lifeboat the one that we have here is Sussex is a lot smaller.
Never been to Norfolk, very interesting to see/hear about the life boats n history. Beautiful beach, the huts represent all that is wrong with the world. Great pics of the seals in NZ. My heater broke on the 13th too lol The parking situation is getting ridiculous in the UK. Lovely to see the boys on the beach. ❤😊 xx
The dogs just loved the beach yes we stay at sites in Cromer as no parking it's a shame they would make more money .....😊😊love your vlogs xxx
You can hire beach huts at Holkham and Wells next the sea by the day for £70-£75 but they do have seating and little kitchenettes. The views are well wort it especially in high summer. I can recommend Cley beach which has a camper friendly car park.
I’ve parked at bouncers so know what you mean 😊
😊😊
Delightful! I love the way you include us is the daily learning of new location customs and " laws" It is heartbreaking to be ready to appreciate the beauty, uniqueness of an area only to find your mere existence on Earth is " verböten".
Everything is privately owned...though we all have seen the disastrous way some people treat, leave nature.I guess to preserve one has to prohibit....just nut us... we're respectful. Thanks for your honest "reporting"
May Shangri-La be around the corner tomorrow.🕊️
Thanks so much for watching.. And thanks for the positive feedback 😊
Did you not get to see the "Banksy" on the sea wall just beyond the last beach hut you went to on the Cromer sea front? If not, you were so close (literally 5 to 10 metres away from it: (By the way, on the previous video, Snettisham is pronounced Snettis-shum not Snettis-ham (Beach). And it is Gorle-ston on sea rather than Gor-leston. But that is Norfolk names for you. Good job you didn't go to Happisburgh (pronounced hays-borough go figure) nor Wymondham (Wind-ham)
Haha, we’re always going to get the name wrong wherever we go! Thought we were going to be ok in England😂😂
@@theexPAWers Great footage of Cromer though.I love the drone footage. It always gives an unusual perspective on any location, but especially more interesting when one is also familiar with the location oneself. (Gt Yarmouth and Gorleston also have Banksy work too, by the way). Living in Germany, it is interesting to watch your travels and especially this batch as I come from Norfolk (grew up in Lowestoft and used to live in the Norwich area). Regarding the names of places, Norfolk is a little special in that regard 🤓.
Looks like cool weather. Hot here in the Midwest USA.
It’s pretty cold here now.. Still lovely home in Spain.. Wait until we go to Scotland 🥶 xxx
If you guys want to see seal's, stop off at Whitley Bay, St Marys lighthouse on your way to Scotland ❤
Bootiful 😂 pardon the pun 🙌
Gorleston beach is our local walk, the beach huts when first arrived were 19k and 900 a year ground rent including use of the toilet via key, November/ December is the breeding season at Horsey gap for the seals although I didn’t realise that campers were not allowed.
It is a shame we have so many restrictions and have to pay for everything. Nice beaches never understand why you're not allowed to park at night why can't they let us and say a time limit allwe want is to sleep. We clean up rubbish we spend money in the town and we are willing to pay a little to stay over night .the seal photos from New Zealand were beautiful. Great Yarmouth is a lovely back in time place and we always find places to stay the night. The was a great place in Caister a hotel restaurant that use to have a parking area you could park and get water and it cost £15 a night and you got a £5 voucher back to use in the bar or restaurant. And full use of the gym swimming pool jacuzzi and steam room. It was fantastic. But after a few years that got stopped.
Oooh watching from New Zealand, lovely to see you cut to NZ and our coastal seals.
Do you have any video of your trip here ??
This is charming! I can smell the sea air. How much fun are you having! 🕍⛱️🛟
The seal pictures look like they belong in a magazine ❤
