@@donaldmartin4620 I was hoping to see some sharks but sadly didn’t spy any
That beach was san perdro? Looks like the small private beach side.
relaxing voice ngl
Come to San Diego La Jolla and Point loma got plenty of Sheepsheads.
That sounds awesome! Hoping to make it to La Jolla at some point!
No freaking way you found a cluster of spiny lobsters WILD
I like your video so far. I would not show a location with a bunch of lobsters. They may be poached the next time you come. Just my thought.
@@pierrearmand2793 Thanks for your concern! I had the same thought too - this was filmed two months ago so I’m assuming they are all moved on by now. I I wouldn’t expect them to stay in that location for too long.
In 1980 I did my NAUI checkout dive at casino point. Still gorgeous, but the kelp was at least twice as dense back then. Climate change, runoff, population decline and overfishing of urchin predators (including lobsters). Consider a trip to santa cruz island in the spring.
@@joehopfield Oh man I can only imagine what it must have looked like back then! It is still a beautiful place, but those shifting baselines are scary. Wish it could be restored to its former glory. I’ll definitely keep that in mind - would love to visit Santa Cruz!
Those areas are both Protected fishing zones, hence why the life was teaming. Next time hit the cove just to the left of the point you dove in Malibu. in my opinion its some of the best diving on the West coast.
@@alleybuilds5370 Appreciate the tip! Would love to check out that other cove
dude , just a little tip; resist the temptation to make " just another selfie channel"
@@someguydino6770 what’s a selfie channel? I appreciate the feedback, but I’m not sure what you mean.
I live in Oregon. How do you tolerate the water. It's freezing cold! Even in the warm months lol regardless Kelp forests are so fascinating thank you for this footage(have u ever seen a wolf eel?)
@@benmcreynolds8581 Thank you! To be honest it was only a little colder than the springs are here in FL, but a 5mil thick wetsuit definitely helps! Diving the PNW is high on my list and one of my friends has some awesome photos of wolf eels from that area - I’d love to come film them at some point! The plan is to travel more throughout the US as the channel grows
laguna is pretty nice too
That's what I've heard! Unfortunately we didn't have the time to go this trip, but I definitely want to go next time
Screw a Catalina wine mixer! Get me in that water!
@@andrewzimmerman2010 😂 right!?
@13:55 swimming with the fishes in the best way possible
Haha I was very excited about that particular shot. I just looked behind and me they were all there just swayin' in the waves :)
When was this filmed? Would love to go!
This was in September. It's a beautiful spot!
@ oh wow! Didn’t expect that September would be this clear! Thank you!
@ Guess I got lucky!
@@josephrickettsphoto I heard the best time to dive in the Monterey, CA kelp forest is Nov/dec so I thought this kelp forest would be similar, but i guess it’s different
Garibaldi have been protected since at least the early 70s
From what I read it was recommended they be protected in 1971, but it wasn't actually passed as legislation until 1993. And it didn't have an impact until 1995. Took quite a while to overcome the aquarium trade
GREAT
Calico Bass are particularly slow growing compared to Sand Bass and Bay Bass.
Wow
Thanks bro! :)
WE ARE SO VERY BACK!!
Haha thank you thank you! :)
Please tell me where you get your music
@@piperthompson9195 so far mostly from TH-cam’s audio library! Gotta comb through it a lot but there’s some good stuff in there. I also make a few tracks myself.
Opaleyes are good eating fish.
