I have a family friend who was part of the secret service and he took us in for a tour of the White House after hours. This was all before 9/11 of course but I got to go into the Oval Office and the Lincoln Bedroom, we even went down to the kitchens and I have a picture on the wall of me and my Dad at the press room podium. This video makes me miss the old days of taking weekend trips to DC and going to all the different historic sites, I really took it for granted.
Best thing to do when looking for parking in DC is to park in the Silver Spring area and take the metro to go to the Smithsonian, the metro goes right under most of the museums
So I generally park at a metro station and then use the metro to get around DC. I highly recommend the Arboreal Garden building between the Space Museum and the Capitol Building. Beautiful 3 story greenhouse, and exhibits on plants in the different biomes/areas of the U.S. - reminds me of Living with the Land at Epcot!
Park in Vienna and take the orange line metro to the national mall station, it’s an easy process and you can park in a secure garage way out of the city
There are many copies of Lincoln life mask all over the country. My local art museum, has a copy. It includes a cast of his hands also, as closed over some sort of rod. One of the copies of the life mask was used to make the original Mr. Lincoln animatronic at New York worlds fair and Disneyland. ( The one bob gur redesigned last minute to get it actually working).
Try parking at the Ronald Reagan Building at 14th and Penn Ave NW (Federal Triangle). Metro is only running 30 percent of their trains and the headways are too long - especially on weekends. It is walking distance to several of the Smithsonian museums.
Lovely video! I did a colonial tour back in high school. D.C. was one of my favorite stops. The mall was where I spent most of my time. All the museum fun! Can't wait for that video! Be safe!
Love DC. Unfortunately, I haven’t been there in a while. I have visited and walked around most of the monuments you are showing in this vlog. There is so much to see and explore. I hope to get back there again. Hope you enjoyed your visit.
A wonderful documentary tour around the city of U.S. National Interest. Never saw any footage of Washington D.C. before, with the exception of the White House and the Lincoln memorial. And great to see you happy and relaxed again, especially near the end.
Hi Jacob! If you go through Lafayette Park you can get a photo closer to the White House. There are usually a lot of tourists there for the photo op. Unless you want to pay to park in a garage or cross reference a billion parking signs, the best way to get around is the metro. It has a very cool mid-century modern design (and a famously designed map by Massimo Vignelli) and there is a stop for the Smithsonian which will take you right into the center of all the museums.
The Winter setting sun makes it look absolutely stunning. I had no idea all these buildings and monuments were in such close proximity. I live in the UK and we only ever see Washington DC in disaster movies!
There was no way you were in Arlington, how did I not know 😭😭 I live there!! You were by pentagon city mall which is not far from me at all! Omg I would’ve love to meet you! I love your videos!!! 🤍 the best parking you can get to go to the museums is around the national mall! Most of the museums are around the perimeter of that but you would definitely have to get there early!
What a unique place to film, Jacob. You do such a good job of finding all the quirky attractions and diversions. Those are the ones I love too. After all that security to get there, I was surprised they let you film. You should watch the TV series The Knick, starring Clive Owen. It's all about the drugs that were used in New York hospitals in the early 1900s. Super fascinating and well done. Roosevelt's summer cottage is close by to where I live (near Maine). It is free and open to visitors and is really neat.
Even with parental controls on, my autistic son can still pull up clips from pet cemetery, the shining, and drag me to hell. Too bad TH-cam doesn't focus on more obvious sensitive materials. They are too busy focusing on the carpetbagger.
I love this video so much I've always wanted to go to Washington DC! I'm so glad I get to live vicariously through you and travel with you on your journeys to all the places I can not get to. ❤️❤️
Yay! What a lovely shot of the Jefferson Memorial! I like to touch statues and monuments so I def would have pet Fala and touched the Washington Memorial. #teamwearthedeapin
A few months after this video came out, my boyfriend would propose to me in that exact spot across the river with the Jefferson memorial in the background. Watching this video and remembering what was going to happen is so much fun! I cant wait to go back as Mr and Mrs and remember!
Gday Jacob , interesting museum .. Starting off with the pictures of drugs , re I have been giving my dog a teaspoon of Hemp Seed Oil, daily , it seems to have calmed his seizures he start to have ( fits of some kind ) Good for dogs, good for us inside and out . Soo the Marijuana Hemp leaf means alot to me medicinal for sure .. My dog loves it , my cat er not so much ..
Hey Jacob park in Alexandrea and metro in the subway will take u every where you need to go it’s has stops for Arlington pentagon Washington mall etc etc I highly recommend the subway
I losing it over the wall paper! That's the coolest thing I've seen this week. That pipe in the cocaine display is a crack pipe. Also they should have included delta 8 in the marijuana section and kratom in the opioids.
An extremely knowledgeable video!! Such a shame you had to go through so much trouble to get it approved! Thanks for all the interesting content filled videos!
Amazing content as always Jacob. I never heard of the DEA museum. People should be more educated about the effects of drugs and how to help someone who is addicted to drugs instead of judging them and looking at them like they are a bad person.
You do realize If they had never criminalised drugs and not created the DEA they would be more people alive today? It's sad our government does most things for money instead fot the public health , See the food pyramid, see why they actually outlawed hemp. See how many trees would be alive today if weed wasn't outlawed .
Have you ever been to Arlington VA for the National Military Cemetery it’s amazing I went during one of there freedom service and I met a WWII MILITARY OFFICER WHO WAS JUST A JOY TO MEET! Thank you for your service Sir!! Find a hotel that has parking lot in Washington DC!
I have tooth decay because literally drink so much fizzy drink .people have literally asked if I take drugs. So weird like never taken a drug in my life.
Ah, the iconic half smoke! Gods, I miss half-smokes, I've never seen them anywhere but DC but haven't been back since I retired. (I'm surprised, btw, that you didn't mention they were a bit spicy. Are you sure it was a real half smoke?) There were whole weeks when I had little time for lunch and fetched me a half-smoke from one of the stands in front of our building. I suspect the food trucks haven't gone back into action, alas -- they used to gather by the l'Enfant Plaza station and were worth a trek over for lunch if I had enough time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Half-smoke
This is so wild. From watching this the message at the DEA museum seems to be drugs are kinda bad but kinda cool. You also get some really bad ass guns if you deal them. We will give you some slightly less bad ass, but still bad ass, guns if you fight against drugs. GO GUNS!!!! WOOOO
While back years ago actually I visited the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial One phrase sticks with me to this day. Darkness cannot drive away darkness only the light could do that and that saying stays with me everyday and I think we all need to learn for that saying
Great episode! As for parking, it’s an incredibly hairy situation to find it in DC. I think the plaza where the Spy museum does offer hourly? I am not entirely sure. Also, the National Zoo has free parking, but it is really out of the way.
You could use a Metro station to park and ride in from there. That to me would be the easiest solution. Either that or find a room that's near a Metro stop on the Smithsonian route.
I have been to Washington D.C. twice already. The museums you should go to are: The National Museum of American History, The Post Office Museum, The National Air and Space Museum, The National Museum of Natural History, and the African American Museum. Have fun Jake!
As others have already said, park in one of the Metro station parking lots out in the 'burbs. If you're coming up from NC, I'd recommend the Vienna Station -- two large lots, plus two parking garages, and no city driving to get there. If you come on a weekday, come early before the commuters take up all the spaces. Note: you do have to buy a Metro card (available in the station); you can add money to it if you run out or low. The card is needed not just to ride the Metro or the bus but for the parking fee. (See URL, below.) For the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), National Museum of American History (NMAH), & the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), get out at Federal Triangle. For the museums on the opposite side of the Mall, the Smithsonian Station is closest, except for the National Air & Space Museum (NASM) and the National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI), which are at the far end and closer to L'Enfant Plaza. (Follow the signs inside the Metro Station and do *not* go out the wrong exit or you might get thoroughly lost. Trust me, been there, done that.) For museums, always check their websites before going. Some are closed, and some close in ad hoc fashion -- the Smithsonian, for example, had to close some of their museums on the Mall because too many guard and maintenance staffers had come down with COVID, so available staff was consolidated and redistributed to a few. Also, NASM is closed until some time in March due to major renovation. (Some of the glass roofing leaked, and a few slabs of marble cladding had fallen from the outside wall.) However, check their Udvar Hazy Center out in Chantilly, Virginia -- that's where the space shuttle is, among many other famous planes. New building, very impressive; also plenty of parking, expensive alas but it's out in the boonies near Dulles Airport, so there's no other parking outside their lots. NMAAHC is on the same side of the Mall as (and next to) NMAH -- very worth seeing, but I'm not sure they'd be thrilled with your filming there. Check first. It can be a very emotional place. (If Emmett Till's coffin doesn't haunt you, if shackles made in toddler size, don't reduce you to tears, you have a heart of stone, despite your experience in protective services.) I think the National Zoo (Metro out on the Red Line to the Woodley Park/National Zoo station) is still by reservation only. www.wmata.com/service/parking/

What the blazes!
They probably didn't like all the drug references 🤣
Loved the video Jacob keep up the great work
I am honestly baffled. There is nothing in this video that warrants that. What weirdos!
Now we know what the hold up was all about haha.
Learn something new everyday. Wasn’t aware of the different brick color on the Washington Monument. Such a great video!
That was a pretty interesting fact. Jacob is full of them.
First video where I shed tears!!!! Damn hormones! Thank you for perusing the monuments in our nation's capital! It's a bucket list trip! 💗💓💕🙏
The FDR park is beautiful, the pieces that recognise disabilities are really inspiring.
I have a family friend who was part of the secret service and he took us in for a tour of the White House after hours. My cousin worked under Clinton and took us on a tour that included the Situation Room and a surveillance area. It was really cool.
Love seeing things from DC. I have never been there, but there is so much to see
Loved the tour. Thanks so much
@thecarpetbagger in the winter especially on weekends the best place is literally one street south of the mall on Jefferson or Independence.
Best thing to do when looking for parking in DC is to park in the Silver Spring area and take the metro to go to the Smithsonian, the metro goes right under most of the museums
I Really liked this one So much information Thank You, Jacob
Stay Safe God Bless from Tammy in PA

Had no special place where we parked, it was so many years ago. Look forward to your return and tour of various museums
This was one of Carpetbaggers best . A first class video !! Thankyou Jacob 🤩🤩
It was excellent.
Love Washington DC...thanks for visiting it! Haven't been there for many years.
You need to check out the renwick gallery and artech house both are great. And i always park under the epa building in the wilson Center.
Try parking at the Ronald Reagan Building at 14th and Penn Ave NW (Federal Triangle). Metro is only running 30 percent of their trains and the headways are too long - especially on weekends. It is walking distance to several of the Smithsonian museums.
Would be cool to go to Washington D.C. someday. Been wanting to go for years. I’m a big history fan so it’s definitely on my bucket list.
Lovely video! I did a colonial tour back in high school. D.C. was one of my favorite stops. The mall was where I spent most of my time. All the museum fun! Can't wait for that video! Be safe!
Very informative and enjoyable. Thanks for fighting to get this published.
Also- the Renwick Gallery is really cool- it’s in Lafayette Park across from the Eisenhower Executive Office Building
Thank you for this. Had no idea it even existed
Love DC. Unfortunately, I haven’t been there in a while. I have visited and walked around most of the monuments you are showing in this vlog. There is so much to see and explore. I hope to get back there again. Hope you enjoyed your visit.
Marine corp museum at quantico is really good while you’re in town
finally, a musuem that teaches people not only where you can find drugs but how you can use them!
I thought that was pretty interesting too. And what not to say in your text messages to escape suspicion.
For the most part, it was fun and educational. I've always wanted to visit the Smithsonian, though..
Park at the station, then you can catch the busses around town
Carpetbagger never misses
You should ride the Metro. You'll never know what kind of crazy you'll see on it. Great place to visit. Love you, your family and your videos!!!
A wonderful documentary tour around the city of U.S. National Interest. Never saw any footage of Washington D.C. before, with the exception of the White House and the Lincoln memorial.

Park at Greenbelt Station off of I-95 and take the metro to the Smithsonian. Parking is free on the weekend and a metro card is pretty cheap.
Wow, I remember those wonky long McDonalds coffee spoon-things.
The Winter setting sun makes it look absolutely stunning. I had no idea all these buildings and monuments were in such close proximity. I live in the UK and we only ever see Washington DC in disaster movies!

I had no idea you used to work in CPS. Can’t even imagine the horrible and heart-breaking things you had to see
ty for showing the DC
Awesome Work Bro, Thanks!!!👍👍😀 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
yes, please visit more things in DC
Thanks for an excellent informative video.

Good one CB. I am sure there is parking at the bigger museums.

Not sure if you’ve tried or if it would be offensive to try, but TH-cam kids app does a very good job.
I love this video so much I've always wanted to go to Washington DC! I'm so glad I get to live vicariously through you and travel with you on your journeys to all the places I can not get to. ❤️❤️

Welcome to Virginia! From Manassas VA
Great and informative video. Nothing wrong with the vlog
Glad to hear you are in the neighborhood!

I know I really couldn't figure out why they had it in this museum but I guess cause it's still illegal federally 🤷
I believe the statuary chamber in the Lincoln Memorial is just the area where the Lincoln statue is. The elevator takes you directly up there.
Love DC love your videos ❤️❤️
Hey Jacob park in Alexandrea and metro in the subway will take u every where you need to go it’s has stops for Arlington pentagon Washington mall etc etc I highly recommend the subway
a half smoke is a Washington DC speciality - the best half smokes can be found at Ben's Chili bowl
I think you're on to something with that wallpaper. They should call this place the NARC museum.
Park(and stay if need be) in Alexandria and ride the metro in.
I losing it over the wall paper! That's the coolest thing I've seen this week. That pipe in the cocaine display is a crack pipe. Also they should have included delta 8 in the marijuana section and kratom in the opioids.
Who is this DEA guy? 👠👠 👠
Those platforms are 🔥 tequila!
I don't understand why you tube had a problem with this video. Great video! Very interesting
They do?
This was very interesting

The DEA isn't good, trust me. It sounds like it is, but it isn't.
I love the vintage high time magazines
0:07 I hear Someone in the background saying "Alright Alright Alright"
Is that you, McConaughey?
Have you ever been to Arlington VA for the National Military Cemetery it’s amazing I went during one of there freedom service and I met a WWII MILITARY OFFICER WHO WAS JUST A JOY TO MEET! Thank you for your service Sir!! Find a hotel that has parking lot in Washington DC!

If you want to go to Washington DC see the museums you park outside in Maryland and take the subway in.

The best way to see DC. Park in Cathedral city and take the metro in
I would love it if you went to the US Mint
10:40 not a tommy gun but a ak type rifle
Taking a child to this museum teaches them the consequences for drinking and driving and doing drugs
This is so wild. From watching this the message at the DEA museum seems to be drugs are kinda bad but kinda cool. You also get some really bad ass guns if you deal them. We will give you some slightly less bad ass, but still bad ass, guns if you fight against drugs. GO GUNS!!!! WOOOO

Not sure if you are into horror movies, but you could have checked out The Exorcist steps in Georgetown.
The best option for DC is to park at a metro station and use the metrorail to get around.

Smithsonian too. Try the metro instead of parking right in DC. There is a station right under the mall where the museums are.
Didn't see anything wrong and I enjoyed it!
Roosevelt says pull my finger lol
my grandfather runs around the pentigon.
Aw, would've liked to see the weed vending machine.
Arlington National Cemetery next!
Your back . great video
You're* and he's been back. He never really left except for a few days after his hit root canal.
Very interesting 👌
I always wonder how many US souvenirs are actually made in the US?
If I could Love this video, I would
Because I do.💜👍
Keep up the awesome videos 💕

Not a Tommy Gun but a AK-47 variant in the DEA museum.
Cool place.
Yeah and I don't know the uploader but I bet he's anti gun
Not a gold Tommy but a gold AK-47
Hey one of my teachers from San Dimas high school moved to Washington this week can you say hi to her
A beef half smoke. It is just a half beef and half pork hot dog.
