    This is easy listening and good for the soul. Taking me back to my HS days, Frank. The lead singer's voice and that guitar work is their calling card. Seconds into the song you know it the Amazing Rhythm Aces! Thanks, Frank and Harri!

    Thanks for the request Frank. Thank you Harri for the reaction. They won a grammy for this song. RIP Russell Smith, unmistakable voice. Many comments I see. All of them are great songs.

    A great American country rock band classified as Rock,Country, Blues, R&B, Folk, Raggae and Latino influences. They have been together for 30 years with a 15 year hiatus. They reformed in 1994.
    Great tune about being on the road, great guitar work which reminds me of Mark Knopfler, just a thoroughly enjoyable song. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and Frank. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

    Another song that makes me think of my departed father. He loved the Aces. Thank you Harri.

    That guitar reminds me of Dickey Betts of the Allman Brothers. I've listened to this song many times but just now came to that realization. RIP Russell Smith, lead vocalist.

    Lead vocalist H. Russell Smith wrote it, but Barry "Byrd" Burton brings it to life with one of the more beautiful guitar solos ever.
    If you want to explore more, try Dellas Long Brown Hair or Burning The Ballroom Down.

    I first became a fan of the Aces back in 1976 when I saw them in concert at WTSU in Canyon, Texas. I got to see them twice more. They always put on a great show. I’m still a big fan in 2024.

    Great choice. This is one of two Amazing Rhythm Aces tunes on my iTunes. The other is Dancing The Night Away, which is equally as good. That would have been James Hooker on keyboards. He would later be in Nanci Griffith’s band. I loved Nanci and he added wonderful piano to so many of her classic songs.

    In 1973, if someone had told me I would one day like "Country Music" I would have shot myself. I will credit The Amazing Rhythm Aces' Too Stuffed To Jump album with cracking a hole in that youthful prejudice. I loved the cynical humour of Third Rate Romance and even the great visual pun of the cover.
    You should have a listen to Junior Brown.

    Speaking of "Rhythm Aces" there's a great R&B song, "Searchin' For My Love" by Bobby Moore and the Rhythm Aces that is worth checking out...it's a classic number along with "Knock On Wood" by Eddie Floyd.

  • @flamencoprof
    @flamencoprof ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You should have a listen to Junior Brown. He is an awesome player who can do Countryish stuff with a bit of humour now and then like these guys.
    Guitsteel Blues, My Wife Thinks You're Dead, Gotta' Get Up Every Morning (just to say good night to you), and Venom Wearing Denim are some older ones. He also does Surf music tributes and some very straight-up old-school Country. Has been on the Grand Old Opry.
    He is underrated.

    The Amazing Rhythm Aces sound a great deal like JJ Cale. They used to tour with the Eagles in their early days, IIRC. Back in the 1970s the Eagles were being accused of using taped performances for the music and just faking it. The Aces stood up for the Eagles immediately, saying that "no, the Eagles actually play and sing _that good!"_ I think they also chastised their accusers for being jealous of the Eagles abilities, and also said they practised a lot! The unspoken end of it all was that if other bands actually practised as much as the Eagles, they would be a lot better in live concerts. 😉👌
