Oh dear!!! 1 of Japan’s TH-camrs made a video about working at McDonald’s and it was hilarious but probably more too the truth it Shun Chan he’s made a few TH-cam videos so it was funny that you made mention of McDonald’s there’s nothing wrong with the fast food chains and their not too bad in the States either i would say watch out for the salt (sodium) content in the food it’s really high

I was developing bronchitis when I was leaving Japan (~2015ish), and I got to Narita way too early, and I walked around, and a lot of places weren't open, but McDonalds was, and when it was my turn, the cashier suggested the shrimp burger (because I probably looked half dead/out of it/dumb), and I got it, and it was delicious, and that's the story of the time I nearly cried in the Narita McDonalds.

Most Americans after eating ultra prossesed food our entire lives especially the crap we were served in our school lunches as kids. Americans dont really know what good food is anymore. I was just in Japan in December. I don't eat fast food in America but had to try some in Japan out of curiosity. I noticed the hamburger patties in all of the burger places I went to with the exception of Carl's Jr. were different than the American versions. I couldn't figure it out, it tasted like hamburger but had the texture of a pork breakfast patty. Almost a little more chewy I guess. I was also surprised to see stuff like double big macs and double meat breakfast sandwiches which aren't available in the states (that I know of). The shrimp burger was pretty good!

I cannot really speak to how things are today but when I lived in Tokyo in the 80’s and 90’s the beef in the hamburgers at American fast food places tasted exactly the same as it did back home in the USA. I am guessing that they use Australian beef because it’s cheaper than either Japanese beef or beef from the USA but I do not know for sure. Either way this should not be a problem because Australian beef taste pretty much the same as American beef to me. Unfortunately the beef here in Thailand where I currently live does not taste at all that same however. I recently made a big pot of tomato beef stew here and it tasted very different from when I make it back home due to the fact that I used Thai beef rather than the more expensive Australian beef.

As far as fast-food chains in the US go, for burgers:
    Wendy's>>>>>>>McDonald's>>>Burger King
    For southwestern food / tacos+burritos:
    Moe's >>>>>>>Chipotle >>>>>>>>>>Taco Bell
    For chicken:
Chick-Fil-A and Popeye's are different, but both serve excellent food. Boston Market used to be a really excellent competitor to Popeye's, but they have fallen off hard in recent years and it's unfortunate.
    For subs/sandwiches:
    Jersey Mike's >>>>> Subway >>>> Quiznos
For pizza.... don't go with a chain. Go to a legitimate pizza place owned and ran by Italians / New Yorkers. The quality difference is immense. Though I guess if you have no other choice, Domino's is certainly much better than Pizza Hut.
There are also some burger chains that cover smaller areas but are WAY better than the Big 3 (McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's). In-N-Out is famous for its quality, and Fuddrucker's is extremely good and very very underrated.

You should be able to easily finding anything on Google maps these days just from knowing the names of these establishments. And if this were the old days before smart phones, an address would probably not do you much good anyway because addresses in Japan are not based on street numbers and names like they are in the USA (very few streets even have names). In fact, the address system can be so confusing that even most Japanese people would probably have difficulty finding a place by address alone without a smart phone.

My mother loved shrimp burgers in Japan. Her favourite would be MOS Burger, First Kitchen and then Lotteria. She rates the coffee highly at these places too. Sandwiches at convenience stores were also great.
For mornings, we loved Mr Donut, which also had shrimp items, as many cafe style places did. Deli France was good too. Never tried Starbucks as it's rubbish even in America. 😛
I can't remember her thoughts on McDonald's shrimp burgers as we preferred the others. Mostly I remember the excellent teriyaki burger, and at the airport I fondly recall that one with a garlic flavour.
In comparison to the American versions of these chains, the local flavours in Japan make a difference. Some of the common items, namely the chicken nuggets, aren't as good.
Overall with fast food, America wins due to the sheer options. Places like In N Out, Panda Express and Chik Fil A, they are untouchable! McDonald's is just so low priority for a visitor in America, as it would be in Japan compared to their local options like MOS Burger.

I love American burger joints but freshness burger is such a fantastic deal for such a high quality sando. Mos burger is also tasty. Shogun is a nice place also. If you're even in Utah valley go to any of the Chubby's locations. It's also hard to beat mexican fast food in Utah

The best way to judge fast food places is to order the number one thing on the menu to compare. MacDonald's order the Big Mac while Burger king order the Whopper.
There is problem with Shrimp and Macdonald's in the states actually as it falls under the food allergens category and because of that the chain can't serve it. There is a regulation in the states that restaurants must state the allergens on a menu or not serve it at all. Macdonald's went the route of not serving it.

Go to a McDonalds in Taiwan, the "Big Mac" is 1/2 the size of the American BM and so is everything else! It's a joke!

Oh yea, used to dutch McD..i definitely recommend trying of course the teriyaki burger. Or the simple hamburger with egg on it (was only 150¥ in '19) if they still got it. Local Dominos here are just bad. 4€ supermarket pizzas are way better even.
I do admit, best ever McD burger is still the German McRösti. Patty, bacon, cheesy mayonaise and a big fried plaque of rösti. And bacon in the top of the bun. And Germany is only 15 minutes away... too bad it's limited

The bacon shake is not a bad idea.
There is a diner chain where I am from, George Webb, that sells Sundaes and is famous for being open all night.
Occasionally, I'll go in, order a sundae and a side of bacon and crumble the pieces up, and mix them into the ice cream and eat it.
Some people look at me strangely for it, but then again some dude eating a bacon sundae is probably not the worst thing to happen in a cheap diner at 2 AM.

I dunno. When I was in Japan, they put wasabi mayo in their burgers. Tasted weird. I mean, I can eat it, but wasabi and burgers hardly go together.

7:23 This pizza does fit with a small demographic here in the states that certain men are literally obsessed with anime. There are even anime conventions, weebs with body pillows of anime girls, etc. Even my hero academia have what is called Shipping, which is in very excessive amounts.

I love the fact that in Japan and other asian countries, they have lots of limited time things. Yeah sure they're weird sometimes and sure some of them are going to taste awful, but you get a lot of great hits too, and its just the fact there is ALWAYS something different and unique to try
