      I had to use the case today to strap something down, straps were nice and dry! Thanks Tony.

    I try to keep the holes I drill in my truck to a minimum, but the good part about the Tundra is you can remove the tail light assembly easily and used some Fluid Film or your favorite rust prevention on the inside of the bed/fender area. Also, I swapped the fasteners for stainless and a lock washers and bolt. You can reach them with a wrench on the inside with creativity.

    Another reason why I like my Ridgeline..in bed trunk. As Great as the Tundras are the Ridgeline is all the truck I will ever need.

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right on! No need to buy twice the gas if your Ridgeline does the job.

    I would have held the swing box bracket up 2-3 inches off the bed just to ensure it doesn't start rusting, great look on the Amazon storage, I removed the Styrofoam years ago to allow me to pile junk on the carpet with depresses down but the 3 boxes look better, I was considering just using three countersunk plastic bins from ikea rather an "engineered" solution?????

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Right! The ‘engineered’ solution is a bit pricey.

      @@ToolDemosI used steam table bins and lined em with the carpet that I cut out to stop annoying rattles.

    I wonder if on your inside mod, instead of cutting up your truck’s carpet, you leave it alone and put velcro (the hook version) on the bottom of your underneath storage and use the loops of the carpet pile as the mating surface. you can buy industrial-strength-adhesive backed velcro strips. Then when you go sell the truck you have the option of restoring it to OEM condition. I am really averse to drilling and cutting my vehicle when other installation options are available. For the outside storage, you could try a plano box, add weatherstrippping to the lid seal, and use a ratchet bar across the bed to keep it snug against the front. No drilling holes.

      I understand what you are saying, and it makes a lot of sense. I think about it in a different way though. I do whatever I want to do with my cars and I don’t worry about the next guy who’s going to own it. It’s a freeing experience.

    They could have made the storage bigger, seat bottoms almost go to the back of the cab. seen that when I watched a video on the steel safe.

    Why wouldn’t you just tell Amazon to replace that hammered package?

    • @ToolDemos
      @ToolDemos  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I did think about that, but I came up with two reasons not to.
      First, I don’t like to be wasteful. It would probably end up in a landfill if I returned it.
      Second, because sometimes the juice isn’t worth the squeeze. I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of returning it when I could make it work.

    I dont want to scratch the truck, yet ill risk puncturing the bottom of the truck and risk the rebar coming off and potentially killing someone

    Be careful with these. They are not sturdy. My driver side swing case broke in the first minute. There is a huge crack in the top of mine from placing a 2 inch ball hitch in it. That's it. It immediately broke. I keep straps and spare hitch pins in the other one. It's a cool design but not a real tool box.

      Never had n issue with mine. Ive loaded them up but I always make sure to never exceed the weight limits. Another thing i recommended is to put something to slide under the swing case if you plan to get close to the 75lb weight limit. Realistically I would not exceed 50 - 60lbs per box. What that does is provide some extra support underneath. Also If you do any fast pace off-roading I recommend taking the boxes out. Its a good design product that could be improved in a few places but it is what it is. For the price you cant complain as they don't take up much space and nothing else on the market like these to compare with.

      Maybe check out the tundra trail edition bed storage boxes. They use the rail tie down system, best part though is 1 of em doubles as an ice chest. 🤙
