- In this video, I try my hand attempting for the first time to catch Winter White Perch. I initially started the second week of December looking for these things. After 3 weeks of scouring the salt ponds, tributaries and herring runs of the Cape and Rhode Island I finally found large migratory white perch. I originally started on the salt ponds of Newport RI and worked my way eastward until I found some life. These beautiful white perch were my first fish of 2023 and were a good way to start the year! I hope that you guys get out there on those mild days and give White Perch fishing a try. They will bite a wide range of panfish lure or trout lures, so no need to get fancy. Just made sure you have the appropriate rod, reel, and line combo to throw these lure. I was using 7ft rods with 1000 size reels with 6lb braid. I there 2 inch Curley tail grubs on 1/4 oz jig heads and also, my new favorite lure, the clam leech 1/8oz spoon that is really for ice fishing. If you have any input in how to make my videos better let me know! I am enjoying learning how to edit my videos and input helps guide me to be better! Enjoy the video! Please like and subscribe!

" Catch and release into hot grease!" Love it!
11” is a nice white perch! I love catching them, but have to use bait mostly, even on a spoon as they are picky where I fish.
Great fishing for January!!
I always dream to catch white perch!!
Thank you. Love catching white perch in Maine in the summer months. Very yummy.
Nice catch bud 🤙
Glad you enjoyed
Hi Dave
👋
Yeah would love to try for perch . Hate to ask for spot but would be alot of help . Itching to wet my line
Try small Road Runners, jig with a blade underneath.
Great job. Looking to get some also.
I'm going to try the north river hopefully next week if the weather cooperates and there's a few rivers in plymouth I have my eye on but I will need to bring my bicycle to get to them.
Hi I love your videos I brought the leech spoon lure 1/8 it’s so lite do you add on additional weight for casting because your cast goes pretty far and I wouldn’t love to catch fish like you. Thank you
I use a light braided line, 6# test, and a light rod to fling those light baits out. Thanks for watching! if you have any questions just ask me.
Any luck this year for white perch??
Hoping to go out next week if the weather is OK. I caught a few in December, but nothing crazy
Actually I'm thinking about going out this up coming Monday in a salt pond. Just hope the wind isn't bad.
That's the same pond otw fishes. I live in Falmouth and have been searching for there for a while now. If you don't mind me asking where is it exactly?
Was this red brook pond or oyster pond? Ive been trying to find it on google maps for a while. I live in falmouth but havent been able to locate this spot.
Hi Dave, does those white perch consider as saltwater fish or freshwater?
What pond is this ? I'm trying to locate them my self not having no luck
Siders pond Falmouth. Oyster Pond has them too and has better parking. Really any estuary that has a herring run without too long of a fish ladder should have them. If your in RI, I know the top of the Westport river has them as well. Just gotta be in the right place at the right time.
Ok thank you soo much no im in Gloucester mass I'll be driving down there this weekend I'm a subscribe to you'r channel good videos you have 🤙🤙
@@davedeefishinglooking at the map for Siders pond is there any public access to fish at looks like alot house and private property. ?
