I’m watching this because I just bought an f-hole strat body which was just that. A strat body with just an f-hole cut in the upper body. But otherwise totally SOLID!! No wood removed besides that directly under the f-hole. So instead of a hollow body it’s a solid body. With an f-hole that’s about 2 cm deep. Not what I was expecting. I might have to send it to you to complete the job!! Great video, thanks!
That's sucks you should send it back and get your money back really ! Always angers me to hear people be dishonest like that I am working on setting something up for next year so I can take on work for anyone who needs it but I think you can do this yourself even if you haven't done so before 😃👍

Normal semi hollow body guitars (Gibson, Epiphone, Gretsch, etc.) have just a few millimeters thick wood on the body, otherwise the sound chamber won'r resonate. This way of hollowing out the body wouldn't change the sound that much. If the main purpose is weight relief, I would go for a chambered body instead, that is cleaner and much easier to make.
I just did a short on finally finding a colour for this guitar I hope it's gonna turn out cool 😃 actually did a blue sparkle strat meny years ago and it didn't work out well for me 😅

Haha yeah I'm crazy 🤪 the risks around freehand routing are over played if you know what your doing and understand what the router will do than it's fine 😃
And you can run a roundover over the arm relief. You just have to carefully tilt the rotor down to meet the angle of the relief right when you crest the transition.
Great project, I plan to build such a stratocaster, I always liked Eric Johnson's guitar but it costs a fortune, i want to make it in olive green with an f-hole, my question is: is it better to buy a harley benton kit or buy a used squier, I don't know myself, I want to use nitro varnish and make a small relic for it, I will oil the head in a dark color and give a clear Fender inscription, I see that you did the overlay from the top, I plan to do it from the bottom, I don't have to have such a cut body, thanks for sharing this material, there are few such videos on YT. Great job, my father is a carpenter so he will do everything according to art, he also has very good tools, you can say professional, I plan to build this or next year, I'm surprised that you have so few views, you deserve more, greetings from Poland! Thank you for the love I don't know why I don't have more subs but I'm glad over the once I have 🙂 it's super fun to carve the body so you should definitely do it😃👍 both guitars have a basswood body so it doesn't matter in that regard what you choose but a squier is closer to a fender but not by much 🤷♂️ I would recommend hollowing the body out from the top like I do because it will be easier than going from the back because making the belly carve will be harder than doing the arm rest best of luck to and your dad.l, stay turned for next part, what color do you think I should have?😃😃

..that might be cool without the top, with the cavities exposed, ..the way shadow and light plays on those contures is somehow a work of art in and of itself. It seems almost a shame to cover all that beautiful carving work up.

Love it! My local shop hade a strat from 1963 in burgundy mist and it was so beautiful 😉👍 burgundy look way better in real life 😀

I'm not sure I understand what you mean there are strats without pickguard but you have to take that into consideration when you make the body
