I think Lone Justice was a very underrated band, having never reached the musical mainstream. I've loved their music since I first brought their album "Shelter" (1986) home. Then I was 18. I'll never forget them.

I'm not precisely sure why Geffen singled out Lone Justice for this special treatment but it's fairly well documented.

I saw her, (them) at "Brassy's Nightclub" in Cocoa Beach, Florida in around 1986. We were in the first row of tables. We were standing on the table for nearly the entire time (everybody was). It was one of the most intense shows ever. Maria was looking straight through me, I think I may have experienced true love for the first time that night. Unbelievable.

I remember hearing this performance when it first came out. I’m not sure but I think it had something to do with MTV, possibly MTV Spring Break. This recording is amazing and much more dynamic than the studio version.
