Beginner Kayaker here , Greatly appreciate all your Videos they are Fantastic, I am learning so much on gear and safety.🙏
Thank you!! 🎣🎣
Out of curiosity, the cotton rule. The chill factor with cotton layers occurs when the wet layer evaporates. Evaporation of water takes 540 calories of heat energy per gram of water away from your body as it changes from liquid to gas. How much evaporation is really going to happen inside a dry suit? That water is never exposed to the outside dry air, or wind - so most of it would pretty much stay liquid. If you are sweating inside of a dry suit - the relative humidity inside your suit is 100%. In theory, no evaporation is going to take place once it steams up inside.
Thanks, this helped with understanding one of my cold water scenarios and gear.
My pleasure! I’m glad it helped. Feel free to reach out with any questions (216) 296-9157
Great video man. You answer alot of questions I had. Thank you for what you do for this sport.
Thank you sir!! 🎣🎣
When thinking of wicking fabrics, not all synthetics are good. Even polyester can't be called wicking unless it's extruded and woven properly. Nylon doesn't absorb moisture, but doesn't necessarily wick it away from skin. Merino wool does wick and offers some warmth when wet; but does still absorb some moisture. I've found the best wicking material to be polarguard.
Thanks for the information James! I’ll definitely look into polarguard.
@@ChuckEarls Did you look into polarguard? Im reading an article now saying they don't make a lot of polarguard garments due to stiffness and they recommend primaloft.
great thanks. My body can't take cold weather as I have extremly low body fat %. I will do what you do plus a down jacket and pants inside of my dry suit the cold days
My pleasure! Here’s a video I did on my under layers that’ll help you get dialed in 🦾 th-cam.com/video/cqbLIf1ML0Y/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3U3cvUN2zkDpukrw
Thanks been wondering what to wear when it's cold
My pleasure 🎣🎣
This is best video for me. Thank you so much.
PRO tips...love it!
Absolutely fantastic. Gave me more ideas
Thank you sir!! 🎣🎣
You made my day, thanks a lot!
My pleasure!
What would you wear when air is in the low-mid 70's sunny and water is low 50's? Just kayak fishing. I just read that cold shock is really at it's max somewhere in between 50-60 water temp so I guess a drysuit is a must.
For those temperatures I would still wear my drysuit but my under layers would be much less to keep from overheating but also protect me from submersion
@@ChuckEarls Can you give an example of what you would wear? Would a dry suit itself prevent the initial 1 minute or so of cold shock before cold fatigue begins to set in?
Sweet 😎🤙
There’s no link to the Kast Gloves , I really liked those .
"wtf" when I saw you jump into that slushy lol
It’s a blast 😝 I’m anxiously awaiting the right conditions to do it again 🥶
Great video ""the one the question I have,im a older guy theres no way i can go 8hrs without taking a leak ,,, only reason why I don't have a dry suit yet??? I could barely manage with waders, do they make any dry suits with a fly???? I have not seen any"" but if anyone knows about equipment or gear ,its you""" any info would be appreciated Thanks
Yessir, the Kokatat I use has a relief zipper in the front that makes relieving yourself easy. Just always remember to close it all the way when done lol.
