  • Andrew Gibson (2020 Old Town Bigwater PDL 132), Jason Duca (2020 Vibe Shearwater 125), and I (2020 Old Town Bigwater PDL 132) decided to do some kayak recovery and re-entry practice after spending the early January day chasing Lake Erie Walleye. After 8 hours of constant trolling from our kayaks, we put our fishing gear away and launched back out onto the lake to practice our safety and rescue skills. Reach out or comment down below if you have any questions. Check us out at lakeeriekayakfishing.com
    See ya on the water!!!

    When people ask why I run “for fun,” this is why. It’s amazing how “out of shape” in shape people are when it comes to cardio and generally not getting tired. In the words of David Goggins, “who’s gonna carry the boats?!”

    This is a great, low-key video that should be seen by every kayak fisherman who paddles on cold water. Note that these guys carry VHF marine radios attached to their PFDs (lifejackets). That's a best practice. Five Stars

    Hi friend! Wouldn't it be convenient to have one of the sides of the kayak free to make a better entrance? greetings from Argentina! I have my SW125! 😉💪🏻

    This needs to be practiced by everyone before taking a kayak out for the first time.

    The turtle crew is at it again! I would definitely consider using a boat tether. These things are unsinkable. Well at least I know mine is haha. On a windy day on big water, if you go overboard, it could sail away, and you might have a lonnnngggg swim haha. Maybe do a video in shallows and fill your hull with water to simulate a hull breach and see what happens...

    That kayak design looks like it has a very high centre of gravity, making it easier to overturn. Comments?

    What’s the Name brand of the Dry Suits you used ? Also do your boots get filled with water ?

    • @ChuckEarls
      @ChuckEarls  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m in the Kokatat Hydrus amzn.to/3N2EpDI and the boots get some water but with multiple layers of socks it’s not enough to affect anything

    What gloves are good for fishing with a dry suit on?

  • @randychappell5955

    I just got the striker climate suit. I thought it might work for cold water yack fishing.( because of the flotation) But I'm afraid along with the 200 lbs. I weight. It might be impossible to get back in the yack.

      Striker climate suit? This suit is meant to wear on ice for your ice fishing I'd say. Too bulky on a kayak IMHO.

    US flags a nice touch. Sad to say the rest of the Kayaks should also have a flag and a Mylar flag would be a good idea also. You see when siting so close to the water it is almost impossible to see you from a distance. The fact that Erie always rolls makes it even harder for a power boat to see you. Even traveling at only 30mph they will be on top of you before seeing you. A reflective mylar 2'x2' flag 4' to 6' above the water will make you more visible at a greater safer distance. The myla will make you show up on radar . A power boat can't avoid you if they don't see you. Consider this when going out on the lake a simple flag might make a big difference. You wear PFD to be safe a flag should also be part of your safety equipment.

      I completely agree!! That’s why a bright yellow safety flag is ALWAYS standard equipment. (Except when practicing roll overs) th-cam.com/video/3nVsPYDhKQI/w-d-xo.html

      My bright safety flag sits about 6’ off the deck of my kayak. You can see it in this video while we’re offshore fishing th-cam.com/video/5HWXKulCdhY/w-d-xo.html
