Being almost 50 I remember 70s culture in spots in my memory. I grew up in South Detroit and the bar culture was so prevalent then and even into the 80s and early 90s. It died as the industry went away. They had bars on every corner and they were filled with all the workers having drinks after work and sometimes during. Total meat markets also. The burning trash cans were also everywhere. I seemed they were constantly burning and this went away as cities put in plastic containers instead of metal. Crime was bad in the 70s and was worse as the neighborhoods were so packed with people. It was a bad place to live and also a great place. It definitely stays with you growing up in those troubled, working class communities regardless of city.
Thank you so much for posting this. A few times a month we deliver food to the homeless of Kensington. Needless to say, we have always wondered where the Rocky movie landmarks were located because aside from the house we had no idea. That said, this video was very enlightening. You did a great job! Now we know what to look out for the next time we deliver food to that town. Thank you so much again
Neat video guys..I met Rocky here in Claremont , California May of 1985.Sly Stallone was in town filming " Over the Top".He is such a real nice guy..Rocky ( Sly Stallone ) let me take my picture with him..Still today after all this time.I still get this lucky feeling that I was able to shake Rocky's hand and tell him how his Rocky movies are my favorite movies to watch...

They offered Stallone 250,000 to step aside from playing Rocky and he always declined and if you look very carefully, he is at ringside at the Ali vs Wepner fight and that is where he got the idea from Rocky. Wepner took Rocky to court for putting up his life on screen and won a settlement. One of my good friend met Chuck Wepner in Bayonne NJ.

I'm going to make the trip from England and I want to take a look around all the locations, especially his street and the gym - will be first thing in the morning, say 7 - 8am. You think it's OK for a bloke on his own to be wandering around these streets, is it safe? Thanks man.
Personally I feel whoever would decide to purchase these closed down buildings and spaces and rebuild something similar to the movies, and add a store dedicated to Rocky would make a fortune and fans like myself would be thankful for that
You got some stuff wrong homeslice....the bridge where you say rocky was waitng for gazzo is a bridge for the el.(elavated train) public transportation. no cars or people.the bridge you point to after that is the location of the scene.but not the bridge.the old bridge was replaced by that one in the late 70's. Next. "the old school house" on broad st is the union league.a privet club for big shots.opened in 1862 as a tribute to Abraham Lincoln.i grew up in Kensington.its like the back of my hand buddy.great video. Love Philadelphia forever.
It's sad to see how Philly has turned out trash all over the street people homeless it's just sad that place should be a place to visit I grew up on rocky and Rambo and love the memories dearly but seen the Philly looking so rundown like that makes me really sad in the heart that place should be fixed up steaz dup and it should be a place for everyone to come too for Hey rocky Balboa experience come on Philly get your s*** together and straighten that place up
