Love ❤❤❤❤ this car. God bless ya!
The mufflers are Flowmaster, they sound very good from the rear at idle or normal driving but are very loud on acceleration or revving the engine. They were on when I bought the car, and would not be my choice but are almost new so they will stay a while.
@inkey2 Aftermarket. Mark-IV was used aftermarket for many cars. Wish it was factory A/C with the swiveling pods on the dash !
she's a beauty
Another stock,original,car yesssssssss.
The ultimate Chrysler design from the scowling grille to the boomerang taillights. Exner's fins were integral to the design theme. GM, Ford, and the rest never quite got it.
Love the clear steering wheel!
No, its aftermarket Mark-IV unit under dash, probably as old as the car. Factory AC was integrated into the heater controls and had integrated vents in the dash.
My brother had a white 4-door, 383 2 barrel, 305 HP, which was standard equipment. Under full throttle it would chirp the tires in the 1-2 shift.
I am a Huge fan of the 1960 Chrysler. I have a 1964 Chrysler New Yorker hardtop wagon that I am rebodying as a 60 wagon.
Wow, big project.. You have good sheet metal from a 60 wagon ? You might like this article I scanned for download. It has finer detail if you save it and open with Adobe rather than view in a browser www.chryslerclub.org/1960Chrysler_Manuals/King_Of_Luxury_Wagons.PDF
The car has had a lot of upgrades since this old video. You can see a full album here. www.flickr.com/photos/mopar380/albums/72157668053473034
@@ijsmale It's direct bolt on with the front clip and doors. Quarter panels are the only real work involved
@@ijsmale I do wish I had those C pillar small trim pieces, as I already had the roof ribs and the C pillars smoothed a few years ago.
@wichrau - The color is period correct but not the original color, which was Bluegrass Metallic - a kind of light metallic turquoise. Don't know why it was changed, I bought the car after the repaint. The seat belts have been in the car since new but not factory, probably dealer installed, but they are identical to a set that are in a1962 Chrysler 300 I used to own.
@ijsmale well let me tell you something interesting about the swiveling dash pods. They were placed too close to the front windshield. A friend of mines father had one of these cars in the late 1960s. For some reason he had the swiveling ports facing the windshield that day. The car was outside in the baking summer sun. He turned on the ac and the cold coming from the ports cracked the bottom of the windshield.
Hmmmmm interesting
0:45 now that’s a the rear with spare tire trunk lid deck look like a Flo’s model character from Pixar’s Cars.
Yup you're right, you don't see much that is really close behind with the low mount mirror. Check my latest video of the car. search "1960 Chrysler Saratoga 2 Door Hardtop May 26th,2012 "
goota love that dash! especially at night!
@FarginBastiges , Yes the signal lever works ... I do use them when there is traffic around me......
I've owned 7 of these Mopars with the parking brake drum on behind the transmission and never had an issue. You must make sure it's well adjusted and firmly engaged.
@DougCameraMan This trunk lid was the optional one for the 1960 Chrysler. Yes, a lot of Imperials had them but they were optional on them as well. Some 1959-60 Plymouths also had them as options too.
It's A Beauty!.
It's a nice car. I remember add on a/c's were common in the 60's.
Hi Tom, I've owned and driven enough of these cars that I don't even think about the push button automatic! The engine is a 383, although it's a rare raised block 383, made only in 59-60 used on Chrysler only, not on Dodge or Plymouth. So in reality it's an under-bored 413. Right now since the rebuild the CID is approx. 387 CID.
That dashboard alone is worth the price of whatever you paid for the car.
I just completed a 2200 mile round trip to California and back from Vancouver Island in the car, and averaged 23 mpg ( imperial gallons ) which is around 18.4 MPG US gallons.
You will have to take a relatively wide flat screw driver and bend the end out slightly about 1.25 inch from the bottom of the blade. Unless you can find a used one on Ebay or such.
I had to recently remove the passenger side window regulator on mine, however it is an electric lift so may be a little different. I had to disconnect the motor brackets and then remove the glass and frame from the top of the regulator and lift it out the top of the door, then was able to remove the regulator from out the bottom access panel. My power window motor mount bracket had broken.
100% pure exner!
You need a correct tool to do the job, which is basically a flat screw-driver with a slight bend on the end. Push it down under the handle escutcheon, and then push in the spring loaded clip toward the handle as you pull the handle crank off the shaft. I thought you were talking about the regulator itself on the first post you made.
Executive Gray Metallic is a standard 1960 Chrysler color.
Hey really nice video man! Funny that the radio was briefly playig the 1968 song Love Is Blue by Paul Mauriat. Theres a really nice vid of a 68 Electra 225 with the same song playing!
Should have left the radio on.
I know some one who has 1 of these his still has the original headliner
What exhaust/mufflers are on this car? Not stock but EXTREMELY Nice!!
I noticed you didn't use your turn signals (shame on you); is the turn signal lever still working?
BTW, my first car was a '60 Saratoga. Thanks for the happy memories.
is that air conditioning stock or was it added on at one time.....i knew someone with a 1961 chrysler and theirs had these odd swiveling ports on the dash
I'm now in the process of restoring a 63 New Yorker I found in Nanaimo. Nice video, beautiful car.
was that the standard trunk lid for the 60 model? Looks a lot like the late 50s Imperial. LOL Beautiful car. It's too bad not more of these big old cars survived to this day. Sadly, when they started getting older, 10 years old or more, and the engine or transmission went out in them a lot of them ended up in the junk yards. It was cheaper to buy another car than put a lot of money into them back then and who knew they would be worth so much today.
my windsor is from virginia and was owned by a farmer who kept a bag of salt in the back so it rotted out the rear end that is the only bad rot on the car
would you know ware i could get body parts other than the floors
my are the crank on the outside i cant seem to disconect them
also anyware to get stearing wheel dash and original looking cloth redone
does anyone know how to take out the window cranks on a 1960 chrysler i heard they are different to take out than conventional ways
Nice video. Thanks for posting this. I didn't see you point out the cool pushbutton Torqueflite shifter ;) The engine sounds just like the 383 in my '68 (see my walk-around video.) Is yours the 383 or 413? I love how those big V-8's generate torque so effortlessly.
That is sweet. I had a 57 Saratoga but it wasn't that cool.
The steering wheels can be re-cast at several places but can be expensive if it is the clear rim type. Quality Restorations - qualityrestorations com does re-casting of these wheels. Original upholstery can be bought from SMS Fabrics in Portland - they supplied my upholstery. smsautofabrics com
Hello Ian I have a question is there any clubs i can join for my 1960 chryslers or my 1954 dodge coronet hemi
ware can i get that tool
Love the car...hate the "toilet seat"
can i ask you is exsecutive gray a normal color for my 1960 saratoga sedan
Have you ever had any issues with the parking brake, as in not holding he car? My dad drove the New Yorker when new, I learned to drive in it. I don't recall him ever mentioning a problem, but some people on youtube swear it was the worst design since mechanical brakes.
You still have it ?
Of course !
factory a/c??
There are also newer, more recent videos of this car if you check my channel out.
When can I expect delivery?
