I remember standing by shed 10 sippin my cup just waiting for that full time whistle i was jumping in tears like i was playing with the lads i was so happy one of my best memories of my life after witnessing 91,95,99,03 and 07 oh what a night full of love always back black no matter what win or lose we are black for ever amen.
Watching that never fails to get the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. What a special World Cup that was. Not just because the All Blacks won but the way the whole of NZ totally enbraced the tournament and all the teams that played, not just their own. The Tongans welcoming their team, the amazing atmosphere and the tension of the quarter finals, semi finals and that amazing final - the only time I have legitmately prayed!
Remember driving across town to a party in the Port Hills in Christchurch straight after this final. Cars honking their horns everywhere. People yahooing out their car windows. What a magic night that was.
This video never ever grows old to watch. As a kiwi who came home from abroad especially for the final, the thing that amazed me most and also amazed most nationals from other rugby nations is that for the first time in living memory Kiwis dared to show patriotism. We where always the quite ones in the grandstands, but in this game we all willed every pass catch tackle and kick to connect. May we never go back to being the wallflower nation. Patriotism is a sign of a nations maturity
I watched this video on Vimeo the day after this. I watched the final at the fanzone in New Plymouth and pashed a complete stranger afterwards. It was just ecstatic. Watching it now still makes me cry.
I remember it clear as yesterday. Mum and Dad threw a party at home. I was 12 years old , had all our close friends and loved ones there. After an extremely long second half on the edge of our seats Hearing that whistle blow to give us the penalty the whole house was shaking. Jumping up and down, arms flying , smiles and tears on everyone faces. Such a beautiful moment !
It was mate the best night especially with so many different ethnicities come together for the one cause. Everyone knew what rugby was fir sure that particular night lol
I remember that year's world cup I had so much nervous energy I was doing press ups and sit ups watching the last 10 minutes. But last year just had a cup of tea and enjoyed.
The normal New Zealander does not really show emotion... but on that night, there were grown men crying. Most of them were French, but some of them were kiwis :-)
Good game all blacks , you were the best during all the competition , well except the final ;) Im a frenchman but anyway , without any rancor , great respect . See you again in RWC 2015 :D
Best Moment in 2011 n u captured it very well. Thanks 4 sharing this with us. And Thankyou to The All Blacks for creating this Great Moment. U deserve it. Merry Xmas everyone.
awwww I so wanted to be at home....those last 10 minutes had me wandering around the house picking up shit, cleaning dishes, I just couldnt sit and watch them...so soooooooooo nervous. This video reminded me how horrible those last minutes were LMAO
greatest moment in my life, I remember watching it in my room with my nana/uncle and parents and when we won I jumped up and yelled so loudly was so excited.
Just got goose bumps watching this! Daaamn, I remember the exact place I was at watching that final and the feeling I felt when that final whistle went off, was undiscribable. Bring on RWC2015 #AllBlacksAllDay #UpTheManu I'll say this, which ever team knocks out the All Blacks, will win the RWC2015
When I realised The All Blacks would be playing France in the final I thought it would be a walk-over since they had lost to Fiji or Tonga I think but they outclassed ABs the whole game, five more minutes and they would have had us.
@cstrobel86 As a start to educating yourself on this matter, you need to first of all cut and paste the following into your TH-cam search bar: "RWC Final - 23rd Oct 2011 - Refereeing discussion from The Breakdown"
@Jack72824 Being a kiwi accepting the national rugby side losing is inconceivable, Where the french as your already referred roll over for everything, my bad . Cheating, i prefer to call it Mc Craw (clearly he knew what needed to be done maybe taking his eyes out before half time would of worked better lol). For once the All Blacks chucked away tradition and play a world cup that was just the bare basic ruthlessness of winning rugby. It was not pretty , but Frances scored against 7 against 8.
@monotone53 I'm not concerned with the fact that the All Blacks cheated---any team will do the same if the referee lets it. The problem, of course, was Mr Joubert's decision to collude with their cheating. I am troubled that you seem to be serious when you ask "what exactly did the ref do wrong?" My concerns are shared by millions of other fans; your attempt to belittle and dismiss them with phrases like "whinge and complain" show only that you are not serious.
Hey sir Henry not nice of you to bag the Wallabies! We didn't bag you and the all blacks when you lost to lowly France in a few times in world cup semis 😭😭😭😭😭😭
@cstrobel86 When one finds himself in a hole, my friend, one should stop digging. When one has been shown up as an unabashed ignoramus, the wise option would have been to silently retire and lick one's wounds. By the way, I'm not surprised you lack the nous to perform a simple cut and paste operation.
@MrGlizzle France did not even try in the first round game---if you knew anything about football you would have known that. The Tricolors played French-style football only once in the tournament---when they demolished England in the QF. Sadly for them and for everyone who loves the game, the All Blacks cheated consistently in the final, killing the ball at almost every breakdown---and the (non-) referee colluded them.
Great record of an undeniably emotional night. But I'm concerned at the basic dishonesty of such a video---there is no hint of the very real anger and concern felt by many fans (French and others too) that the referee refused to penalize massive and persistent cheating by the home team. Many of those tense faces in the crowds at the Fanzone were also registering deep discomfort and unease at what they saw happening.
It's 2024 and this video will never get old, happiest day of my life 🎉
