I enjoyed the trip down memory lane, refreshing our minds to just how much work went to to not just this amazing kitchen but the entire building. You have the patience of a saint and the skills to overcome almost any challenge. I can't wait to see what the nextl project is going to be.
Gorgeous. I can usually nit pick over kitchen designs. Would I change anything in yours? No, though I likely would have gone with a black sink. I love when elements "disappear" in a Zen sort of way.The light is (pardon it) brilliant. I noticed it immediately. Bravo! I have one. Do not get one. They are no where near as effective as over top hoods. They will never pull everything in and stuff falling into them sucks to get out. You can make an over top hood look good and it will be way better at its job
We have a pull down vent we inherited on our 5-10 yr old stove when we bought our house a few years ago, it doesn’t run to the outside, but just recirculates using a carbon filter. We also use another vent in the microwave atop the stove, also recirculating. They SUCK, for a few reasons, being recirculating they’re not powerful enough, but the biggest problem is the CONSTANT upkeep, especially the lower one, which constantly becomes a grease pit of despair.
I still remember when you first purchased the abandoned building like it was yesterday & thought to myself “I can’t wait for the outcome”! Mike you did not disappoint! You did an amazing job and I can’t wait for more to come 🤩
Fun idea: Mount a flatscreen over the sink, have a live cam of somewhere outside. Also, I'd leave the dent in the fridge and just make up funny stories about it when I had friends over. Excellent work there sir!
You have fume xtractors that can raise out of your countertop when you start cooking. Or you have them as a sort of grill in your countertop to extract fimes when you're cooking
My wife pulls out the coffee maker every morning (so its not under the cabinet overhang). Then never pushes it back! It drives me nuts! I'm anal lol but seriously I hate anything on the counter tops and this is just so good! When I extend my kitchen im definitely going to do this! 100%
You need to seal the underside of the butcher block countertop for the same reasons as painting the drywall especially with the oven directing under it, but also add the reason of bucking and cupping issues in the future.
itd be interesting to know what it would've cost someone who didn't get all the hardware and fronts for free, but the results turned out gorgeous, the matte black works so well in the space
I've done a few kitchens in my time. If you add in the fronts, the hardware, and the tooling he uses it brings his price a lot closer to the 45K range. I could be a bit off because I build my doors and fronts. Or I buy Ikea if its a budget and I have still hit those numbers, ZERO shade to him, use whatever resources you can! I loved this video and its inspired me to try concrete in my next remodel
@@Nikonfanboy1982 I'm really interested in getting into cabinetry myself. I've got a table saw, drill press, routers, about a dozen planes, chisels, wood files, metal files, etc. I'm thinking of building a corner pantry, are there any other tools I should consider getting before I start my project?
@@holocaust_2.0 A younger me attempted to build cabinets professionally without a CNC, its possible, but its hard. I think a CNC should be honestly considered these days you can get them reasonably now. There is plenty of work to do while your carcass is being cut. Other than that I'd consider dato jig and dust collection. Oh yea and a track saw, and a good miter saw for trimming stuff up. It all kinda depends on how often you're gonna do it. If you're using Ply,MDF etc. Hope this helps

OMG! That definitely is a dream kitchen. I love that you have drawers instead of shelved cabinets. The coffee cupboard is a fantastic idea. As for the dent on the fridge, you can call a good reminder of the order of operation. (Hey, that’d been a good name for a band.) Anyway, since you asked, I HATE shorts! I won’t even watch them. I enjoy regular length videos as I invariably gain at least a nugget of knowledge from them. They also seem more personal. Shorts really don’t do that. So glad you are looking and feeling better.
Pricing differences in the US and the EU are so weird. I've never seen a fridge like this go for more than 2000€ here, even top of the line models. Yet the maple veneer plywood would likely cost me double the price you paid. Amazing kitchen and astonishing work from start to finish. A real dream come true!
I think it is because forests in many parts of Europe are endangered, thus wood costs a lot, while made in China appliances can be transported to most European countries via land vs on ships to the U.S. Higher transportation costs and higher tariffs result in higher end product prices :)
Love the kitchen! Extremely clean, modern and functional as well as looking astonishing. I really like the idea of encasing the vent in the drywall section in the roof. Those kinds of vents are often very expensive, but for a build like this I feel it is needed to keep the standard going. Been watching this series with my father and he loves it as well!
I remember watching at work during the pandemic. it was really quiet as you can imagine and I was mesmerised by these types of videos. But I’ve stuck here all the way! I’m pleased for you!
I remember in the beginning of the pandemic when I started working from home and all of a sudden had a few extra hours of my life and at night started watching youtube and your channel was one of the first. So cool, you are living the dream of a lot of people I'm sure
If he has more of the bathroom tile that he used for the backsplash, it would do nicely to cover the gyprock board, while co-ordinating with the backsplash and achieving the same colour transition between the counter and the brick.
That is without a doubt the most beautiful transformation I have ever seen. In my business ( LED Lighting) I'm in a lot of houses and condo's, either new or being renovated, I don't recall seeing a kitchen that amazing, so well thought out and so functional. Bravo sir!!!
Man, the kitchen looks killer! I've been watching since the very beginning, so this was kinda like a clip-show episode of my favorite TV show. Can't wait for what's next!
The drawer for the toaster is really my style. The kitchen is beautiful and i still remember the video about installing the floor, i kept thinking that day "his patient is out of this world"😅
I have to second the recommendation for the remarkable. I am an analog guy in a digital world. 99.9% of my on-site notes and sketches are done on paper and pencil. But back in the office i have all these paper drawings that become a bit of a pain to share to colleagues and clients. But like Modustrial says, you can throw your work onto the cloud and then work access your stuff on a computer. I am old school, but this is one piece of digital gear that has truly de-cluttered my life
I really appreciate that you didn't hide the brick or paint it or something ridiculous. It's an industrial building and that exposed brick adds so much life and color to your kitchen.
Out of all the subscriptions/channels I follow on TH-cam, I can’t wait to see a Modustrial video pop up in my notifications! Love your creativity and your will to learn and experiment. Keep those awesome videos coming 💯👍🏼
The artwork on the side wall - fantastic. Several master touches to the kitchen: * the soft close drawers - I think you'll always be happy with those. * the pull out pantry - great use of space. * the hidden coffee/appliance cabinet - love, love, love that.
My favorites... . The pantry pull-outs . The diagonal countertop . The diagonal floor Question... Does the direction of the diagonal on the butcher block countertop run the same direction as the floor? Or perpendicular to the floor?
I love how the floor boards are running at a slant. Very cool. You could get the nice black stainless steel appliances. That would look so good in there. And no to the brick backsplash idea. Keep the clean lines. Some type of black trim on the drywall part
Kitchen is stunning Mike, I say leave the dent in the fridge door as a conversation piece lol, is the artwork on the wall one of Kat’s masterpieces? coz it’s awesome❣️👏🏻

This looks like no-frills, restaurant kitchen, but much nicer. Like an interior designer did it. So all the frills are hidden and there are a ton. I could cook a great dinner for at least 20 in there. The clean up would be so easy. I kept wondering about ventilation, happy he mentioned that, and paints it like the cabinet doors. The diagonal floor is the happiest accident, like Bob Ross would say. It would have looked bad in either direction, this is perfect. He KNOWS what will look the best, and how to do it.
i feel your pain and the joy of completion. we bought a old house and completely renovated it our selfs. built our cabinets and a custom island. did the same thing as you and had appliances installed early had to replace the microwave because of damage. definitely fun to watch your video.
Really cool kitchen!! I’m glad you’re better healthwise, I’m looking forward to see more videos, I really enjoyed the project so far! I discovered your channel when you bougth the building, keep up the good work man!! You’re living the dream dude!!, cool place, cool project , cool job and a beautiful partner in crime! Best wishes for you both!!
I have that same refrigerator and have had to look up the parts diagram before. Keep in mind that freezer door is only about $275. Worth it in my opinion when the rest of the kitchen is brand brand new!
I have a question: When you did the overlays for the cost breakdown on the kitchen, was the placement of the numbers intentional to use the exclamation point light beam behind your left arm (on the right in the picture as we see it)? If so, well played! :D The kitchen looks amazing, btw
was just yesterday checking on whether I missed this month's video... lo and behold today I got my notification... sometimes I feel like I'm ''manifesting'' for other ppl :D this was, again, nothing less than a pleasure...
Mike the kitchen is amazing . It is very very modern and sleek I think just the look you were looking for . I would love to see more videos and shorts about the kitchen . Congratulations on your beautiful new kitchen , and I also love the art work on the wall compliments of Kat I believe .
Quite interesting the variance in what kitchens are worth around the world. Based on what i've spent on kitchens here in Australia, i would guess a similar kitchen including appliances would cost around $30-$40K to contract out.
I live in the states and I would say there's no way you pay 6 figures for that kitchen. It is somewhere in the price range you gave. Between 30 to 40, depending how far you go.
First off, glad to see that you are looking healthy again - you had us worried there for a second. Second, I've been watching since the start when you were under 800 subs and I am so impressed with the progress that you have made throughout your entire home. It is a slow arduous process that you have undertaken and while you still have a ways to go, you can see the hard work, imagination, and love you have put into your dream. Looking forward to seeing how this slowly plays out to the final big reveal ...... and then what comes next. Thank you for taking us along on this journey.
I would do some more black acrylic over those drywall spots with some LED lighting behind it to give a nice glow when the main light for that nook is off. Plus it would tie in with the acrylic on the island.
I'm loving the music and the direction and all that jazzle by the way. Either you're very good at that or you have people that are! I've seen big budget films that are less swish.
Glad to see it finally done! You really knocked the skin off it. I love the industrial look with the exposed brickwork and beams. I like the idea of the 'wrecking ball' feature. I think it lines up perfectly with the industrial urban theme with the street art. I'd love to.see a dent removal short.
Congrats, the kitchen looks amazing. I was literally going to comment about ventilation when you answered the question. I kind of thought you were going to go with countertop downdraft so that you didn't spoil any of the sight lines in the kitchen, but a flush mount ceiling vent system does the same thing. Really, really beautifully done, congrats again, I hope you enjoy it
It's about time you revealed but looks really good. Nice that you got a lot of sponsors to send you free hardware and stuff. Blessing of a TH-cam channel. Still the hard work paid off cuz it looks next level. Awesome job
It’s an awesome kitchen man. I would just say regarding the extractor, check carefully the airflow rating of any potential product you buy. In a big space like that you need a high cfm rating to make the extraction work well. I would be tempted to install a recirculating pop up hood in the cabinet space behind the hob, it will bring the extraction much closer to the job surface making it more efficient, and doesn’t need ducting outside. It uses a charcoal filter to deal with any smells and puts the air back out into the room, usually at kickboard level.
For what it’s worth, I already have the remarkable 2 and it was a great way to cut down on paper notebooks as I went through Law school. Was a great way to take/organize notes without extra storage or always having to carry things, and it’s also a phenomenal PDF reader/highlighter. Highly recommend to anyone needing a professional tablet that isn’t also a tempting distraction like an iPad
Glad to see you're back with another video! it really turned out fantastic! That remarkable tablet would actually be a game changer for someone like me who has like 5 idea sketch books around the house. I would love shorts about every little things that cant really fit in videos. I Love everything about that kitchen and I'm not even exaggerating. And also thank you for installing GFCI outlets in the kitchen. As an electrician you see so many people who don't understand that outlets close to sinks must be GFCI.
So happy I came across your video when you first bought this place way back when. Watching this journey is fun and very relaxing as well as informative. I never knew much about what goes into building up a house or innovating but I have learn a lot from your videos. Hope you’re healing well from your surgery and I’m excited to see as you continue with the renovations.
That is a gorgeous kitchen. Great use of that corner cabinet for the small appliances. I hate putting my small appliances away because they are so hard to get to, but here you just open the cabinet and slide them out. Also, for some reason I really dug that drying rack you can add to the sink.
Been loving this series. I knew from Ep1 that it was something that would never be in my budget to do but after watching so far, just wait until he does the end of series cost breakdown. I don't remember what his original budget was but I'm betting he's at least 50% over the original budget. Can't blame him, though. It's one of those things where, if you're going to do it, do it well. This was always going to be a high end reno. No point in trying to stay on budget by going with more moderate materials/design. It would be so obvious where the corners were cut, in a reno like this.
Your dented fridge reminds me of my parents hardwood floors. They're typical middle class people. Finally splurged and had real hardwood flood put in their kitchen and dining room. For some reason the flooring installers didn't hook up the water to the ice maker in the fridge. My dad pulled the fridge out, hooked up the water line, pushed the fridge back only to discover that the fridge put a huge gouge in the new floor.
cant believe it's been 2 years! i remember seeing the 1st video and i was bummed that it was only posted a day ago and the renovation hadn't started yet... now look!
Love the kitchen, really love the pull out/hidden coffee station, but I definitely laughed at your $10 toaster next to the ~$10k in new appliances. Can’t wait for the bathroom build.
The overall result is beautiful. I love the hideaway cupboard for the kettle and toaster. And I love that you have outlets all along that splashback, many houses have way too few of those! The painting above the sink is gorgeous too.
Another thing that is becoming more popular in high end kitchens in the UK, is a downdraft extractor, however they need to be built in from day 1. The flush mount hood you mentioned is another good option.
What a dream! Brilliant design choices, clever cabinets for storage are the best! As for the fridge, eh, gives it character. The wrecking ball back splash sounds fascinating, super excited to see what you do there!
With my eye, that brick splash with the knife block, you should do a pair of vertical herb gardens and replace the LED with a grow light. That way you can bring some color into the kitchen and have another useful tool while cooking.
Really enjoy watching this guy, Because he actually does his research. His explanation for the subfloor and being able to use it as such was 100% correct. Very intelligent Diyer

Love this idea
You have fume xtractors that can raise out of your countertop when you start cooking.
Or you have them as a sort of grill in your countertop to extract fimes when you're cooking
Absolutely obsessed with that coffee/toaster pullout drawer. Genius!
Yup, me too. Pinned it in my brain for my kitchen Reno.
Absolutely
Absolutely incredible seeing the transformation on this. These videos really saved me in the time of covid
You need a panel to cover the bottom of those upper cabinets where your brick wall is
itd be interesting to know what it would've cost someone who didn't get all the hardware and fronts for free, but the results turned out gorgeous, the matte black works so well in the space

That is interesting. Thank you for sharing.
I think it is because forests in many parts of Europe are endangered, thus wood costs a lot, while made in China appliances can be transported to most European countries via land vs on ships to the U.S. Higher transportation costs and higher tariffs result in higher end product prices :)
@@Autism_Forever 90% of the goods from China arrive by either water or air ;) here.
Definitely like the huge sink and similarly hate the split sinks. That was a good move for sure.
I’ve said it before, but I really appreciate the musical selections that you make! Wonderful kitchen!
For the exposed dry wall in the kitchen 29:37, you could build an infinity mirror, might just fit for the kitchen
This whole series has been a complete MUST watch. Man, you’re effort has paid off. Very inspiring. Cheers!
I remember in the beginning of the pandemic when I started working from home and all of a sudden had a few extra hours of my life and at night started watching youtube and your channel was one of the first. So cool, you are living the dream of a lot of people I'm sure
for around the brick backsplash I would do the same wood and stain as you did for the counter. Might tie it nicely together. Awesome kitchen! cheers.
If he has more of the bathroom tile that he used for the backsplash, it would do nicely to cover the gyprock board, while co-ordinating with the backsplash and achieving the same colour transition between the counter and the brick.
@@fredericapanon207 that could work too
That is without a doubt the most beautiful transformation I have ever seen.
Anyone can dream. Double trash bin feature, and the whole nine yards. Amazing!
I am old school, but this is one piece of digital gear that has truly de-cluttered my life
The kitchen looks absolutely breathtaking. been here since day 1 of the renovation, love seeing the progress
My favorites...
. The pantry pull-outs
. The diagonal countertop
. The diagonal floor
Question...
Does the direction of the diagonal on the butcher block countertop run the same direction as the floor? Or perpendicular to the floor?
Pretty sure it's in the same Direction! He also sais it at 23:12
I love how the floor boards are running at a slant. Very cool. You could get the nice black stainless steel appliances. That would look so good in there. And no to the brick backsplash idea. Keep the clean lines. Some type of black trim on the drywall part
The toaster/kettle/coffee drawer needs some heat and moisture resistant material cause over time the ply will warp.
I can't believe I have been watching these videos for two years - the COVID blur.... the timelapses are so satisfying to watch.❤ 🇦🇺
I can't believe I've been working on this building that long.... 🤣
@@modustrial it's looking great 👍
Can't believe it's already been 2 years!!! Kitchen looks insane, may have to hire you to build mine in a few years when I buy a house!
I know right!? I'm getting old fast...

Kitchen is stunning Mike, I say leave the dent in the fridge door as a conversation piece lol, is the artwork on the wall one of Kat’s masterpieces? coz it’s awesome❣️👏🏻

HOLY SMOKES!!! Man, this kitchen came together great. It really is beautiful. Attention to detail and features are great! Phenomenal Job.
Personally I would have put a glass pane in front of the splash back in case of spillages or just odd things happening. Far easier to clean back there
Well, the tiles are from the bathroom tile supply, so i would expect them to be easy to clean.
I bet you wished you’d kept the elevator when it came to moving all those cabinets upstairs!
Great job on the kitchen. It’s phenomenal! 🙌👏👏👏
i feel your pain and the joy of completion. we bought a old house and completely renovated it our selfs. built our cabinets and a custom island. did the same thing as you and had appliances installed early had to replace the microwave because of damage. definitely fun to watch your video.
I would 100% be appreciative of a video on fridge dent removal! I've got a small dent I need to repair myself ;).
For the brick cut out, use the marble to cover the drywall. That is if you have an left. It would tie it all together!
I would never guess that those are cement countertops. They look amazing
The kitchen looks amazing, btw
Thought exactly the same 😂
was just yesterday checking on whether I missed this month's video... lo and behold today I got my notification... sometimes I feel like I'm ''manifesting'' for other ppl :D this was, again, nothing less than a pleasure...
This was way better then doing the generic "restoring an abandoned building in 10 minutes" good job mate. 👏
Mike the kitchen is amazing . It is very very modern and sleek I think just the look you were looking for . I would love to see more videos and shorts about the kitchen . Congratulations on your beautiful new kitchen , and I also love the art work on the wall compliments of Kat I believe .
You can’t just ignore the cost of the provided items. If I were to make the same kitchen exactly the same then how much would I pay?
Do the math yourself
@@SunamiDevil he didn't provide the cost of the items he got for free so how can you do the math?
Double the 20k and I guess you will be near the prize for a „normal customer“ 🎉
Quite interesting the variance in what kitchens are worth around the world. Based on what i've spent on kitchens here in Australia, i would guess a similar kitchen including appliances would cost around $30-$40K to contract out.
I live in the states and I would say there's no way you pay 6 figures for that kitchen. It is somewhere in the price range you gave. Between 30 to 40, depending how far you go.
95% sponsorships are on point!! you deserve the best dude!! cheers from Greece!!!
The diagonal flooring looks amazing, cool to know it helps with the structure too!
I audibly gasped when I saw the TH-cam notification, so glad I had it on!
Keep the dent in the fridge, it gives it character and has a cool learning experience story. Great job on everything, looks awesome.
I'd love to.see a dent removal short.
what really could add something to the house and is on top of that a very relaxing hobby: adding an aquarium!
Awesome job
wow, I really liked the pantries near the fridge and the slide-out tray for the coffee machine and the toaster. Brilliant design!
Thanks!
that corner with the pull out coffee machine is a brilliant idea.
mine sit out on the countertop,
taking up space and hogging the power outlets.
OMG another video. Absolutely love these. Hope your health is good. I look forward to watching your videos for years to come.
Just use a longer black panel to cover the white drywall near the brick. It'll go right on top of the old black panel. I did this in my build too.
Best part was at 28:03. Good to see you're healing up really well. Cheers.
I agree! I was a little concerned about that move seeing/hearing Mike straining to get up and down. Hopefully it was just for dramatic effect! 😆
I would definitely like to see the dent removal video. Watching your summary made me exhausted: what an amazing amount of work!
Congrats. The new kitchen is amazing. Hope you're feeling back to 100%.
on the feature wall put either side a tiered herb garden, splash of green will lift that space
Everything about this kitchen is exactly what i have pictured wanting when i remodel my place. Its so nice.
To cover the drywall, you may want to consider some corner shelving units that fold out exposing hidden spice racks.
Kitchen look great. For the vent hood, instead of dry wall you should do wood; stained to match the rest of the exposed wood in the ceiling.
cant believe it's been 2 years! i remember seeing the 1st video and i was bummed that it was only posted a day ago and the renovation hadn't started yet... now look!
I wouldn't go looking for a fridge-dent-removal short to watch, but I'd watch one as part of this series.
Love the kitchen, really love the pull out/hidden coffee station, but I definitely laughed at your $10 toaster next to the ~$10k in new appliances. Can’t wait for the bathroom build.
I hope you are okay and recovered from your surgery... hug from Lisbon, Portugal, EU
I was just thinking of it being a while since last video. And there you are, posting it today. Wow.
When this whole thing is ready and finished it will be the coolest dreamhome / workspace ever ! I can't wait !
The overall result is beautiful. I love the hideaway cupboard for the kettle and toaster. And I love that you have outlets all along that splashback, many houses have way too few of those! The painting above the sink is gorgeous too.
you could also do a strip of mirror on that last bit of dry wall to reflect the existing bricks.
On that exposed drywall, I would put the same tiles to match the wall behind the sink to bring the two walls together visually.
Always love seeing Kat and Bruce!
With my eye, that brick splash with the knife block, you should do a pair of vertical herb gardens and replace the LED with a grow light. That way you can bring some color into the kitchen and have another useful tool while cooking.
