  • Mixed Media Products are sometimes scary to use as if not use correctly they can ruin a project. That's why I created this video about modelling paste to help you gain the confidence you need when using it. I've included lots of helpful tips and even created an art journal page! These tips are good for any project.

    My worst problem with applying modeling paste through a stencil is either applying too much or too little paste.

    • @KerenTamir
      @KerenTamir  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it takes practice but you get the hang of it. Here is a tip: try to wipe off the excess to the point that the level of modeling paste is at the same height as the stencil. You can tell if you put too little as you will be able to see below, its more translucent.
      Using a silicone brush or catalyst blade helps so much

    I do have questions:
    -how can we package them after the textured painting is done?
    -how can i varnish the finished piece?
    -can it get damaged after drying?
    -will it fall off a canvas?

    • @KerenTamir
      @KerenTamir  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      texture paste will not fall off the canvas but if its really thick it could peel off but not all brands. I wouldn't put it too thick. you can package it like you would anything else. You can varnish with whatever you use for acrylic paints or water based products. Gloss/matte varnish or spray works

    Great video, how do you keep your modeling paste or gesso from cracking? When I apply it and then it dries, it gives that crackle effect that I really don't want. Also wanted to know if plain heavy gesso acts like a modeling paste?

    • @KerenTamir
      @KerenTamir  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be that the layer is too thick and so it cracks. Or if it gets wet underneath it can crack

    Hello mam, your tips on modelling paste is amazing, thanks a lot. I do have some questions though....
    1. Are modelling and texture paste same?
    2. If I need to roll a canvas layered with textures, will it begin to crack. Would it be flexible enough like acrylic paint to allow rolling the canvas?
    Thanks in advance.

    • @KerenTamir
      @KerenTamir  ปีที่แล้ว

      some people called modelling paste texture paste however when I think of texture paste I think of paste with gritty texture, like when it has sand or other texturising elements. I'm not sure about rolling as I've never done that so I can't be sure

    How long does modeling paste take to dry?

    • @KerenTamir
      @KerenTamir  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on humidity which varies according to location. However, you can use a heat tool to make a dry faster.

    • @KerenTamir
      @KerenTamir  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can clean it with water and soap or a baby wipe. It’s easier to clean it while it’s still wet however, if it dried up, you can use a gentle scraping tool or soak it in soap and water for a few hours.
