Washed my starter locs myself at my 4th week mark ( getting it retwisted this week on the 6th week mark ) and I was so scared when my hair puffed up into a fro like hers, glad to know it’s all apart of the process. So excited for my first retwist, thank you!!
Milton Johnson III it turned out REALLY good... I can definitely see the growth, but I’m ready to be in month 6 and to stop wearing this durag every night. 😩😩😩😩
I started my starter loc on January 6, 2024. Yesterday February 9 was a month for my starter locs and mines looked just like hers in the beginning. Once my loctician retwisted my locs I seen a major difference in growth. I love seeing the growth journey from what I started with and now.
So happy to find someone with my texture! I’ve always thought I had thick hair but beginning the research phase of starting my locs I now know I have fine hair.
These are my favorites of your videos. I like it when people say they retwisting hair; that they are actually retwisting hair in the video and it’s not sped up like crazy and there is only 1-2 minutes of retwisting. I just love your videos period! Please keep them coming like this. I really get into the journeys.
Looks great sis! I’m 2 weeks into my starter Locs and can’t wait for my first wash and retwist at 4 weeks. These videos help me know what to expect, thanks for sharing!
You really eased my mind with no worrying about if some wash out after wash. I'm 1 month in an stylist told me to come back every 2 weeks. So my first wash looked like she washed them all out. My hair only about 2.5 inches. This made me understand the process. Thank you
@@Jayfrm7blk please I’m wondering this now 😭 I have my appointment scheduled for my third week (next wendsday) but I’ve been hearing people say 4-6 weeks. My hair is growing outta control though and already budding so I want to manage it before the roots start tangling which happens with my 4c hair.
@@jaydw2583 I think it depends on what technique was used for your starter locs and how many times you've washed it. Also, how fast your hair grows. For most people, it's 4-6 weeks, but it's an estimate. It sounds like you're right to go in sooner. I had 2 strand twists instead of coils, my hair doesn't grow that fast, and I haven't washed my hair (I kinda don't like washing my hair so I've always procrastinated anyways), so I could probably wait even longer than 6 weeks, but just to be safe, I'm going in at 5 weeks. My loctician used gel in my hair and you can still see it in their so I hope washing will get it out, but we'll see. My hair doesn't absorb things all that well, but she needed to use some product to lengthen out the hair--it's pretty stubborn. Lol.
@@Kyprioth071 yea your exactly right. I went in at 3 weeks and my loctitian said that was perfect and not to wait any longer, my hair has been growing like crazy and I only let her wash it. She didn’t use a lot of gel for mines which I like bc I don’t want buildup, also I started with comb coils. 1 month in and all of them have multiple buds.
I will be starting over after 8 years of having locs and I was concerned about having short locs again but this inspires me. Thank you. Would love to continue to watch your client's progress. Stay blessed
Thank you so much for this video! I’m about two weeks into my loc journey. I started 7/25. I was so afraid to get my hair washed! Now I see it’s part of the process. Thanks for this!
OMG!! I finally see what I've been doing wrong. I've been recoiling all the way to the end of my hair (pretty much smoothing it to the tip) and not wrapping the loose hairs during my retwists. Couldn't figure out why most of them seemed to be doing nothing. I was interrupting the process and just didn't realize it. Thanks so much for this video!! I've watched it so many times but I'm just catching my mistake.
I plan on using a stocking cap when I do my first wash on my comb coils. It’s the only thing that makes sense. I already used a stocking cap when I do my salt water spritz’s. After I get locked I am planing to go with semi free form.
I wish you were in AZ!! I am wanting to start lots and I cam across your channel, you are one of the few who are very in depth with the process. That's the kind of person I want in my hair!!
I love your videos. I am a white stylist that has alot of experience with black/brown hair. However this is my first steps into baby loss. I have been fortunate enough to start someone one their loc journey. I am very happy with where we are but I loved this video as well as the one that talks about the 5 stages of the loc journey. You are talented and a wealth of information. Thank you!
