  • Missing that RPM Tachometer on your R nineT Pure, Urban GS or Scrambler? Here's a how to (install) video showing you just how simple it is to add the RPM Tach. I personally think it completes the look. Form + Function FTW. Hopefully this helps people.
Big thanks to ElJefe over at the ninetowners forum for providing the part numbers making this possible. Original thread here: www.ninetowners.com/forum/elec...
Note* May or may not work for 2019+ models. Someone please confirm.
Just copy & paste the part numbers in the search field:
    parts.bmwmcescondido.com/BMW_...
Here are the parts that I ordered:
46638558379 - Holder (Dual Gauge Brackets)
    62118564506 - Revolution Counter
46638521655 - Body Screw with Shoulder (QTY: 2)
    62118558858 - Bracket F Instrument Cluster
62118567597 - Trim Panel Instruments Combi (Black)
    64226916475 - Countersunk Head Screw (QTY: 1)
    62118356970 - Grommet (QTY: 2)
Til the next ride folks. And as always, be sure to keep those sidestands up! Peace.

I removed the 2 bolts below the headlamp and lowered that down on to the fender to make more room to get at the mount for the gauges. Good to see your post on the R9T forums and I also got my parts list from ElJefe to add this to my Scrambler. If I'm ever on the bike down in SoCal I'll look you up. I'm up in the Seattle area. Keep up the great videos!

Good job on the video. I did this easy install last week on my 2020 pure.
The biggest plus for me was the shift indicator. As the bike does not have the kur/klunk going into first, nice to have the visual.

Thanks for your clear video. I just installed my rev-counter on my R Nine T Pure, and it was very easy.I did it in less than an houre. I also missed the shift-indicator for the gearbox while driving. And additional extra's... The price in Europe (NL) was 333,- euro fot the rev-counter and 115,- for the console with additional mountingboults and rubbers etc. And what a bike, the best buy in my life...

Thanks for making all these videos man. I was trying to decide between a Street Twin or a V7 Stone until I learned that an R NineT Pure existed and can be had for $10k. Good to know that the wiring for the tach is already there and that if I want to spend $700 I can get the dual clock setup. Also saved the link from your bar end mirror install. Definitely two mods I'll do once I get my new bike. And I'm hitting the subscribe button...now.

Thanks for great video. I just did the same installation. I do have a problem though. Once done the cables from the handle grips are touching the side of the speedometer and rev counter. So much that I can't fully turn to the right. So the clutch cable on the left is the worst. Did you not have this problem at all? Do you or anyone know how to get more slack in the cables? Oh no what have I done 🙂.

I have a quick question about accessing the cable for the rev counter. I spoke to my BMW dealer and he said that it takes them 2 1/2 hours to install it because they have to take the fuel tank out to access the wire... I plan on showing them this video LOL. I think I like the "Pure" with the added Tach better than the "regular" 9T. I guess with all the added stuff it does, the cost is not too bad, but still high. You miss the Traction Control?

    • @sidestand
      @sidestand  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah the prices are a bit inflated, but thats BMW for you. Mine is equipped with traction control :)

Great video. For those asking about whether or not this can be done on an Urban G/S, the answer is yes. See th-cam.com/video/D34s4MIm96o/w-d-xo.html I'm still trying to get answers as to the parts, etc., if they are different for the Urban G/S install as opposed to the Scrambler or Pure. As for the comments about high price, remember that this isn't just a tach. It's also a gear position indicator along with displaying other functions and information. It's BMW, too, so that usually means more money. There are other accessory tachs out there but no redline (which I really like to have) and they are purely a tach -- no other functions. I really want this for an Urban G/S because I believe it completes the bike.

Man this makes me sick, a lot of motorcycles don't have a rev counter. It's so simple. You have a 1200cc BMW and you had to install yourself a rev counter. Greetings from Brazil!

I still have yet to see this done, would like to know myself. You should give it a try 😉.
The only issue I foresee would be clearance from the small windshield. But then again, its appears to be set just enough to squeeze in two dials. It's tough to tell without actually taking dimensions.
