KISS were incredible musicians, they never get the credit for how good they really are. They have written over 400 songs, you would be amazed at how many different styles of music
Brad & Lex, this was another one where you've got to do the actual video & see them. KISS really needs to be seen, not just heard. That's a BIG part of the whole experience. And the lyrics of this song are so easy to understand that you can understand them without a lyric video. So don't deprive yourself!! Go & watch them!! 😀🤘🎸🎵🎶
I listened to KISS and liked there stuff, loved a few of their songs. Then I went to one of their shows. I was BLOWN AWAY. KISS Live is like nothing else.
To me Kiss is the greatest band in the world. I have seen them live 8 times and wish I could see them 8 more. They're the great live concert I have ever seen and I've seen alot. Must watch live to understand the greatness.
this was the only tape I owned and never had the chance to listen too. What happened was I bought the tape and went to a friends house right after and his older brother saw that I had it and it was the only KISS tape he didn't have so he traded me FAR over value for it so he got his Kissco tape and I got 2 Megadeth tapes (w/ a trading card in rust in peace), Metallica Kill'em All Demo and Iron Maiden Somewhere in Time (I should mention this is 1992 and the only time either of us have even seen this tape, not like it was new by a long shot)
So that you understand the context, disco was wildly popular at this time. So rock acts were trying to take advantage of the craze by adding some heavy bass dance beats to their own songs. The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart etc did the same thing. A lot of hardcore rock fans hated these acts for doing this.
Back in the 70s, they sold out coliseums on day 1. Their albums and 8-tracks flew off the shelves. They might have been the first to paint their faces, use on-stage fire, explosions, and platforms with elevation. They were even hotter in concert.
Lex hit the nail on the head. Yes Kiss is one of the greats. A truly iconic band. Hard to argue against a band that has been around for 50 + years. Enduring and sometimes thriving through the public's changing tastes in music whether it be disco, glam, hair metal, heavy metal, hard rock, or even progressive rock ("Music from the Elder" ...can't win them all.) But to truly experience the majesty of Kiss is to see them live. They put on shows like no other and have so throughout their history. Sadly time is catching up and now the best way to experience their love shows is videos on TH-cam. You should check them out when you get the chance.
Kiss has some killer songs, try God of Thunder, Black Diamond, Cold Gin and God Gave Rock n Roll to You. Crazy show to say the least but they had the chops to pull it off. Enjoy! 🎸
They are one of the greatest bands of all time. Good job Lex! I've been listening to them since 1975 when I was 5 years old. They have a lot of different music that changed with the times. Please do more. You won't be disappointed!!
My first concert was KISS Animalize when I was 14. I couldn’t believe my mom got me 2 tickets for Christmas. She took myself and a friend and waited in her car to take us home. Two hour drive each way. Queensryche opened for them. That was cool.
@@michaelclement4961 I'm one of those mom's (yeah, I know, I shouldn't brag lol, but I will) I took my now grown son when he was (his 1st concert) 15 to see BUSH, the next year we saw MEGADETH TWICE, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, CHILDREN OF BODOM, HAVOK, AMON AMARTH, THEN A YEAR LATER IT WAS ROCKFEST !!! then the last concert we went too was IRON MAIDEN!! We had so much fun, Sooooooooooo many great MEMORIES! Now I'm sick in a wheelchair (don't feel bad for me cuz I'm good!) if anyone in the comments sees this, TAKE YOUR CHILDREN TO CONCERTS! 🤗😎
A lot of rock bands were jumping on the disco wagon in those days , Kiss of course did this song , Pink Floyd did another brick in the wall, Grateful dead did shakedown street, and countless other rock bands jumped on the wagon as well...Not that , that is a bad thing in fact it gave us plenty ofgreat classics we still listen to today
God of Thunder, Strutter, Christine Sixteen, Beth... so many more great songs!! Kiss was my favorite bad when I was in Grade school through Junior High!!
This song came out in '79 as the disco era was coming to it's abrupt end. In this era, many rock artists like The Grateful Dead (Shakedown Street), Rod Stewart (Do You Think I'm Sexy), and Rolling Stones (Miss You) were making token songs that were heavily disco based. This happened to be Kiss' "disco song".
It was actually Anton Fig who played the drums on all tracks on Dynasty except Dirty Livin' which Peter Criss played drums and sang on. I Was Made was written by Paul Stanley, Vini Poncia and Desmond Child. Paul played the bass on this song and producer Vini Poncia the synthesizers
I love Kiss !! Check out anything from 73 through 84.. all very solid fun catchy songs. And as others stated check out THE SHOW!! Breathing fire.. spitting blood.. smoke..lazer lights.. flying demon.. smoking guitars.. rockets flying out of guitars.. breaking guitars in half.. explosions.. big flames.. 4 guys in their character make up.... I can go on..lol.
Definitely check out their live performances from 1970s to the 90’s early 2000s Reunion Tour where Audio/Visual Technology really made watching a live Kiss concert worth it.
You have to know each of these four musicians are at the top of their game and the best in the field. It’s why Rolling Stone named Paul Stanley the #6 guitarist of all time.
Formed in 1973, KISS was one of most popular bands of the 1970s and are still out there winding down their final tour. They kept their faces hidden behind makeup. No one knew what they look like until mid-late 1980s. Their 1996 reunion tour of all 4 of the original members (Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, Peter Criss) grossed $143.7 million. Known for having one of the greatest stage shows in all of rock. One the most successfully bands of all-time.
YESSS!!!!Thank you guys for finally doing that song!!i m so glad you guys are coming around with KISS!!I know in the beginning Lex wasn’t sure about them! They are one of the greatest rock bands in history almost 50 years of success..KISS really is a great band with great songs and have a very in depth catalog!!If you want to hear a beautiful song with a-lot of depth give the song “FOREVER” a try..a softer beautifully written song!!!You will LOVE IT!!!!!!Thank you guys really love this channel!!
This song came out at the height of disco. This song is often referred to as 'Kissco'. In their later live shows, they play it a little different so it sounds more rock and less disco. They once said in an interview that they did the face painting for attention and effect because at the time they were starting out, the biggest hit maker in the US was John Denver. They wanted to make a HUGE splash, and I'd say they succeeded.
I know i told you this before, but you NEED to check out some live classic 70's era KISS performances! Tokyo Japan and Houston,Tx 1977 are both great shows to choose some songs from! You can see them in all their glory with the makeup, costumes, bombs, fire, blood, hydraulic risers, confetti, pyro, etc.
Paul Stanley has stated that he was a big fan of Studio 54, and he used to go there, without makeup, and dance. one night he left there went to his studio, set a drum machine to 124 beats per minute, and decided to write a "disco" song. and that's how this song came about.
This was Kiss’s answer to disco. Technically it’s disco! But rock! I enjoyed playing this in the club I worked at at the time. 1979. It was a club with bands. I would DJ during Intermission. Usually about 40 minutes twice a night and an hour before the band started!
Reminds me of me and my buddy running around on the street with painted faces and a tennis racket as guitar singing this song , as an 11 year old haha. Fun times
Live shows are usually the best to get a full appreciation of bands like Kiss. I would so love to see Brad let go and really enjoy the music..come on....we don't mind if you sing along :-)
Lex is pretty much dead on when she is describing the unique types of R&R throughout history, I'm impressed. She has the soul of a Rocker! And you can always tell it's KISS by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons vocals. Rock on, Brad and Lex!! 🎶🤘
Kiss was my favorite band as a lil kid in the 80s, but Pink Floyd i would say tops them noticeably. They may not have costumes, but their light shows ARE the cosmetics.

How can you hate kiss. They have so many hits heavens on fire like ut up and this song are awesome. To me their better than acdc who else can make disco go hard.
I agree with everyone on here, KISS are a great band, but really need to be seen to be appreciated. I was at a concert of theirs a couple of years ago and they absolutely KILLED it!!! There were fans in there from all age groups, from below 10 years old and over 60 years old and everyone loved the show. Not a single disappointed fan in the stadium. Truth. Gotta see them performing this to see the awesome absurd contrast in look to style.
Or to put it bluntly without being politically correct: the music is too bad to listen to without seeing the video and the lyrics are silly 😁
agree 1000%. Their visual adds so much to the song they sing!!!
So true!
Kiss on the disco train!
Their music holds up just fine on it's own...but you miss so much when you don't watch these guys in action!
Oh, yeah. Watching this done live is worth it. So cool.

This is from their dynasty album. There so called “ disco “ era . I saw them live on this tour. It was my first of many concerts. I was fourteen 🤘

The disco influence in this track is what makes it.

In retrospect those songs turned out to actually be the best of the disco genre.
Sadly true!
Another rock band, The Kinks, turned to disco: "(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman". It was a minor hit single, just missing the Top 40 (#41).

Yes! I agree with Lex. The bass is the best part.
O yes.
Kissco. Check out "Strutter", "I Stole Your Love" and "C'mon And Love Me".
