  • Hull Trains has had a troubled few years operating the notoriously unreliable Class 180. In 2018 the rail operator made headlines for having no working trains at all, on various dates throughout the year.
To remedy this Hull Trains has leased in two ex-GWR HST's and has brand new Hitachi trains arriving Q419/Q120.
In the meantime however, I test out their service in this trip report from Brough, East Yorkshire to London Kings Cross. Find out how it went!

The 222s would have been a nice train to keep, but looking forward to HT restarting with the 802s - I'm guessing you're still awaiting your trip too.

if you didn't know already Grand Central Trains still have the class 180s and once I tried to book a train from London to York and it was cancelled because it broke down getting to London, so I had to get an LNER train instead, and there is no news if Grand Central Trains are replacing their 180s any time soon, Also great video :)

Thanks for watching and agree! I can’t imagine how the new operator of those trains will get on with them..

The 802s will sort things. Kings Cross to Grantham in 60 mins is great.

quick update: the 802s did arive on time and the adelantes/180s were moved to grand central

Slight correction, I think all the 180s have been moved to East Midlands Railway not Grand Central. The 802s look great though.

The 4 Hull Trains Class 180s we’re moved to EMR, with GC’s Fleet of 10 Class 180s staying as they are currently.

what's wrong with the 180s (Adele) I like them u even said they're comfortable and a decent speed but i agree on the fact the new ones will be better. Adele is pretty old now but I'll still his her! anyone remember about 11 years ago with the green hull trains?idk the class 😁

They’re a comfortable train. Reliability is the biggest issue and what has hurt Hull Trains for the last few years.

I agree. All I hear nowadays whenever I go to brough, hull or Doncaster all I hear is "HULL TRAINS APOLOGISES FOR THIS DELAY AND ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED" Also I think the shortage of trains recently has been a problem with the fire and the HST and stuff

They were 170s originally, then 222s after that before they went to the 180s

mmmm if they are scrapping H S Ts then these 180s should surely go but no they are palming them off to us E M R and we dont really want them they are so unreliable and very tempremental
but i supose someone has to look after them ......thanks for nothing :(

I couldn’t agree more..I can only put this move down to a lack of available alternative rolling stock..I have every sympathy with whoever gets these units as they have been nothing but trouble since we got them

yeah too right mate not sure what service they will cover , probably on the 156 or the pacer route's pleased they won't be on the london services ...we have 6 H S T sets cascading from L N E R in January
as most of our H S T's are going for scrap.
Were just suffering from major overcrowding we had several services cancelled one being to m.atlock a one coach 153 the driver refused to take the train because to msny people got on it

@@sydwoods9686 Thankfully, EMR are sorting a lot of these problems out. A look and the Wikipedia page for EMR shows when the new trains are coming into service and the 153s are nearly all gone and the 180s won't be around for very long.

    Is this train going anywhere

    • @MomentsInTheSky
      @MomentsInTheSky  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Absolutely! It travels from Hull to London up to several times a day. Service is a bit limited right now due to current situation..but they are still running
