Just when I thought I was done buying keyboards 8Bitdo drags me right back in
I was out!
haha, Im holding my horses even like it too :))
Yeah tell me about ir brotha. Got 2 mech and 3 portable kbs already meng
The sopranos?!!
I just bought my first new kb in years and i wish i knew about this one sooner... I would have waited another month or two to get it
That dual-button attachment would be wonderful for split timers for speedrunners. Big and slappable.
Family Feud?
I have a gaming pc inside of an NES. This goes perfectly with it, picking this up for sure.
That sounds really awesome, did you showcase it anywhere (reddit, TH-cam)?
I'd love to see this, too!@@ogur1990
+1 w/ @ogur1990... I definitely need to see this.
Definitely gonna get this board whenever I get a chance to. Box White V2 are damn good switches and the fact they threw those in there is awesome. Famicom colors too... I'm a sucker for that aesthetic. I hope the stabs have been tuned and don't rattle.
I was never into mechanical keyboards and found it too expensive, but seeing this for the first time it was love at first sight and I knew I had to have this (and the matching mouse too)
Theres a matching mouse?
Yes the design matches another 8bitdo product (N30 wireless mouse) I have it but regretted getting one it's one of the worst in terms of ergonomics (no mousewheel too) too bad coz they look good together on the desk@@rapt0r167
@@rapt0r167 0:50 the one below the keyboard is the matching mouse
Just got mine today. It's solid and I'm really digging it so far.
Those huge buttons are going to be lifesavers on video conferences!
Big panic mute button incoming!
I received my keyboard yesterday and it's so nice. The switches are the first of its kid that I've used and I'm really impressed. This whole keyboard is just awesome.
hey quick question, does the light for power light up? i did not see it on in this video lol
@windrunnerKal yeah as soon as I started charging it, the light was blinking until it was fully charged.
Hey sorry, I also have a quick question if you don't mind. Does it work wired? I intend to use it for work and then in my lounge, wireless after hours.
@tremaineunderwood7322 yes it works wired. That's how I use it for now.
@@rharvier awesome man thanks, I appreciate the response 😎
Looks good!
Before this was available, it took me a while to find a fairly priced mechanical 87-key keyboard. Finally discovered the Redragon Kumara K552, quite satisfied.
THIS WOULD BE ABSOLUTELY PERFECT FOR ME! Im making an retro style looking setup and would really love this!
Great mechanical keyboard. Got the Famicom one. Grew up with, and had a lot of fun playing with my dad.
The Gameboy was a really nice touch! 😁
I was thinking in what color should i paint my pc/console wannabe.. 😅
Came right on time!
And gonna think about the mouse and the keyboard from 8bitdo 💪 thx Prime!
I'm planning on getting this for using with my Steam Deck while it's docked. I'm especially curious to try out some single button rhythm games like ADOFAI and Rhythm Doctor with the jumbo-sized buttons.
Exactly what my thought was. plus hope works on pie to use on my Retro cab
I like this idea! Hopefully jumping into the steam deck soon! Diablo and bg3 are calling me
Hopefully this runs well out of the box. I mean the two big buttons.
Saw this. Fell in love with it. Went to Amazon UK and immediately pre-ordered it. I went for the Fami edition, purely as it has Japanese lettering on the keys. In the UK, we don't get it until November 1st, but that's cool. Really looking forward to it. Thanks for the video on this product.
not gonna lie a little tempted on this one! love how the Japanese version retains all the hiragana/katakana that I'd assume was the same as the Famicom's official keyboard.
I'd be really interested on of it works with Mac. Those big buttons would be awesome for hotkeys in fcpx of logic. Having four buttons (two per big toe, lol) under my desk on the floor for undo/redo, and maybe play/stop or record/stop would be cool.
I passed on this the first time, but I just ordered one from the second wave last night. Couldn’t resist
Awesome, wish I could use this for my iPad, as I no longer have a laptop or desktop
Those buttons will be very much needed for Ghostbusters on the NES 😆
got mine coming in the mail cant wait
I wish they had a version with a number pad..
Agree 100%
@@DeadManRising Same here and I would like standalone USB versions of the buttons..they are so much fun to hit.
100% agree. I use Num Pad as my default movement keys when I played CS:GO "back in the day".
Same. I wouldn't mind if they sold a separate numpad.
sold separately..lol
Great video, as always!
Thumbnail bring back my childhood when i used to have NES keyboard console then you run 2000 Education computer 48 in 1.
Such a beautiful keyboard 😍
I would definitely pick this up if I didn't have my Keychron Q6 or I had another PC...
Build quality is good enough and in terms of the design and unique addition of the A/B buttons, it seems like a really good deal.
This looks amazing 🤩😍😻
Whats the most powerful SBC we can stuff into that case? I'm thinking the Raspberry Pi CM4 is a no brainer but how high can we push the retro emulation capabilities in there?
UP/DOWN, LEFT/RIGHT, A/B, START/SELECT
Theoretically, you could make a giant NES controller and use all the macro button jacks for it.
I'm really happy to see this. Do you think it would work for a retro pie? I can't imagine why it wouldn't my self. I really wanted to buy the mouse for use with my retro pi but wanted a keyboard that would match. For stuff like dos and old pc games. I also have the n30 pro controllers in the NES style. I want a whole theme. I have been looking at cases that look like an NES too, but haven't gotten one yet? Can't imagine i would have much use for the two button thing, but it's cool too I guess.
Looks rad but needs a full size version. Can't work without my tenkey.
So get a separate keypad lol
@@jessebarker9775 I have one. It's cumbersome compared to an integrated tenkey. Takes up more space as a separate device than if it were part of the board, uses an additional USB port, and adds another cable to the mess. Also it aint look like an NES. Surely you thought about all of this before you replied?
@jubsy For sure. My priority is gaming, so TKL or less is optimal for me. I don't use a numpad all that often, so mine sits off to the side. A USB hub would be a decent solution for freeing up ports.
Kudos for supporting wired operation!
I use V1 Box Whites for every arcade stick I can fit them into. You sold me on the V2 announcement alone. Got a Famicom-style one en route XD
edit: It's been great. Bought a numpad to go with it and got more Famicom-style keys on Aliexpress. Thanks again for this rec!
I just got the famicom version and I love it. I was tempted to go with the NES version but the dark red on the fami was too aesthetic to pass up.
The original Famicom had a keyboard as an accessory as well as the disk drive. Yeah who wouldn't want to make their Nintendo a Home Computer? In this regard Famicom keyboards go way back.
It's real nice, I wasn't expecting it
The NES version was completely sold out so I ended up getting the Famicon version and it's great.
i dont need this, but i want it sooo badly, really cool, thx for your thoughtful reviews
got mine yesterday both versions!
Recently bought it online for the equivalent of $50 in my country. Absolute steal if you ask me.
If they release this with a UK layout I'll be so tempted to buy one
That thing looks amazing!
I'm gonna get one and use those big buttons as a foot pedal for light gun games, being very careful of course.
I love mine. Feels like a model m IBM keyboard from the 80's. The quality is that amazing! I had to get the mouse to go with it.
I saw somewhere that the keyboard has inputs ports for three additional button pairs....but I haven't been able to find any[;ace to purchase additional big buttons?
I just got mine....however I dont like that the big buttons are not usb i would use those alone just for fun the giant buttons. They are so much fun to hit and being able to use them with anything would be really cool..
I'd love to try this, but I preordered it from amazon 2 months ago, and even though it released 3 days ago it still says it'll ship next week.
Does it have multimedia functions? Fn button maybe? Like play /pause, skip forward, etc?
Hey ETA, would you mind testing the modular framework gaming handheld
Wow that is a slick looking keeb
it just looks so cool
Looks and sounds fantastic.
Really wish they didn't write "RETRO KEYBOARD" on it...
I so need one for my Amiga mini !
Wish I had a matching computer case 😊
Hi ETA! Have you tried hooking it up to an xbox or switch? I'm not sure if there is any extra fun to be had there 🤔
Very cool, whats programm is that, i mean the wallapapers in windows ?
i tried to preorder this as soon as i heard about....preorders not available in australia 😠
i used box jades in my daily driver - box whites just a bit lighter!
4:13 -whats the thing behind the monitor at the bottom left?
I bought the Famicom version of this keyboard. I grew up with the NES, but I just thought the Famicom version looked a lot nicer.
It feels amazing to type on. Coming off a keyboard with the excellent Cherry MX Red switches, I find that I significantly prefer the Kailh switches in this 8BitDo keyboard. They're clicky but not obnoxiously so, and typing is smooth while still providing satisfying feedback. It all makes for a very balanced typing experience.
Interesting enough the original Famicom had a keyboard as an accessory for basic as well as the disk drive. Home Computers were still being used by a lot of people in the early 80's myself included. This just makes the Famicom version that much cooler.
Does it work with the Steam Deck? I was looking for a less than full size keyboard to travel with my Deck (when I didn't want to use a fold up mini keyboard). I assume it would since it's a keyboard but they only mention compatibility with Windows and Android...
is the big button device durable enough and have a long enough cable for it to be used on the floor by your feet?
doesn't look like it from the video. Missed opportunity for sure, that was my instant reaction as well. If the buttons use a 3.5mm jack connection maybe an extension cable would work.
If only it had some back lighting for the keys, I would have definitely ordered one, but I already have enough keyboards 😂
Love your animated intro to your youtube channel, who made it?
Awe man I want to program one of those buttons so every time I push the button I get a muffin
I hope they make a version with a numpad in the future
this looks so 80's I love it
Can I change the layout or do the keys have different sizes? Would like to switch Z and Y, and a few more...
Amazon put my first day preorder on backorder. Thanks Amazon. Very cool
Same here. Got pushed to Oct 3rd.
I would love it, if this was full size. I still use the num pad for data entry.
If they make a super Famicom version I'll be excited
Yes! A an SNES/Super Famicon would be awesome! The NES/Famicom version look awesome, but the SNES is what I grew up with.
Been on the fence with getting one. They made it seem like the switches were not hot swappable, so that reduced its appeal. Seeing you take the switch out, I know that information is now incorrect.
Make a Master System version and they can take my money now :)
Also! Random thought on this. I could see those programable buttons being used for toe taps haha. I can already think of 2 games I play that having those programed to enter/exit mech or reload etc. would be awesome. Toe tap to shoot web? Possiblities are endless.
This keyboard would look so good with my Nintendo themed PCs.
how do you get more big buttons? I don't see them for sale on their website.
How wide is this keyboard? I was thinking about putting it in my laptop backpack.
No coiled cable included?
i understand it has an aesthetic bu tim not a fan of those big buttons, it would have been better if they had a 2nd usbc so it can connect to a streamdeck like device which can be configured in 8bitdo software
"super smooth"... Those things are sounding super scratchy. They definitely need to be lubed or just flat out replaced with some nice lubed switches. Love the overall looks, might just pick one up.
I wish they would tell us what keycap profile this keyboard uses.
Uh oh. I’m both a fan of 8bitdo and mech keyboards. But I’m a fan of silent switches. Yeah it is swapable but that adds more to the cost
Man, i cant believe, after all those mx mechanical and expensive stuff, i just want thia one so badly, i dont need it! But this is so cool! Holy crap!
How did you emulate these games? Which app did you use?
I think they used green switches on the super buttons because they have heavier springs. That big keycap must be heavy.
Can you use the dongle with their controllers??
This looks great, and for the price, I dig it, but I HAVE to have numpad or it's a no go for me.
ate you going to feature the Fami edition too?
It definitely works with iOS! It's my favorite keyboard and the scroll functions on the mouse works flawlessly IMO.
Do you have a video to connect this keyboard on macbook? :
Maybe the big buttons could be used as foot pedals in games that require a lot of keybinds lol
Gateron greens for the big buttons, maybe?
Damnit! I just bought a little keyboard.
Would probably buy the buttons for Pinball 😁
just need a crt new branded.
have backlight too?
May I ask which launcher you are using with RetroArch?
I just want the 2 buttons to play Divekick!
Are the Kaihl box white v2's lubed?
Hope they make a uk one
I already liked what I saw from this after seeing Lon Seidman's review previously. That sure looks tempting. I like both the NES and Famicom designs, though I prefer the look of the Famicom design a bit more. My first 8bitdo controller was their Famicom-style FC30 from 2015(how time flies). I also love some of the quirky touches they did here. I'm not sure what I'd do with those big buttons, maybe just program them as A & B for comedic value until I'd come up with something better, but the idea of having four sets of them with no real purpose amuses me. But it looks like another good effort from 8bitdo.
Incidentally, I recently picked up two of 8bitdo's Ultimate C wired pads and two of their Neo Geo CD pads, and they've all been excellent so far.
Just got mine delivered, have no idea what to do with the big buttons
Those large buttons are actually for you to play with your feet. Like for jumping in Fortnite, or accelerating and breaking in racing games.
I want those big buttons for track and field game
What is the mini PC behind your monitor?
Awesome to build a raspberry pi in it and use it for a dedicated MSX emulator
