I think Road to Eldorado is like Treasure planet: A cult classic that fails miserably at the box office. Shame, but we still got that movie and it made my childhood all the better. :)
As a Startrek fan, Titan A.E. and Treasure Planet were for me. I loved rewatching during the 20XXs. Sadly, anything to do with "space" at the time wasn't doing too well. Maybe only the Star Wars prequel trilogy.
@icecreamhero2375 same. There's more creativity and genius in the first 10 minutes of that movie than there has been for the last 10 years in Hollywood. They certainly don't make 'em like that anymore.
I loved that movie and I was about 17 or 18 when it released. I was so surprised it didn’t do well. The animation was innovative and I appreciated the more adult tone.
i just got done watching it last night for the 1001st time, i didnt know it had failed when it was released. it makes sense at the time but i wish more awesome aw inspiring movies like this had come out
I first saw treasure planet in 2005 after seeing pirates of the Caribbean. It was like the perfect mix of pirates & Star Wars for me. I absolutely loved the movie. I hope they’d make a live action film of it.
it's sad this film was a flop, it was awesome. I saw it in cinemas with my friend when it came out. We were both little girls and we loved it. Used our government allowance money to buy the tickets and a happy meal. One a month we'd do this. Sometimes more often when we got Christmas or birthday money. That cinema has since closed down because it was a small neighborhood cinema. It's sad us millennials were the last to have this. I've been going to the cinema by myself since I was 7, saw Hercules. Before that my family took me. Greeting from Romania.
I remember being really bored by it as a kid. I gave it another watch over 20 years later now that I have my own kids and we turned it off cause they got bored too.
I grew up watching Peter pan and Star Trek as a kid with my dad, so Treasure Planet was awesome to me. Also Titan A.E. was another space adventure film i loved.
Its not Johns and Rons fault it didnt do well, it was the lack of marketing. Its an excellently crafted film.

art can be great or widely appreciated, not both
The problem was that they chose to spoil so much in marketing
It will always be an underrated masterpiece no matter what.
This is by far one of the most beloved movies of my youth. Never regret the joy you provided us.

I just rewatched it. What a great movie, it holds up well.
Nothing is wrong with treasure planet! It’s one of my favorite animated movies of all time. I wish we had more like it
I’m glad it has found it’s audience years later
Alice in Wonderland, Fantasia, Pinochio, It's a Wonderful Life and Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory were box office bombs.
And they’re still all have cult following and remember as very good movies. It weid
Never heard of fantasia
Don't forget the greatest movie of all time bombed when it came out, but now is one of the most beloved fantasy movies of all time...labyrinth!
@@mikesmithz I love that movie.

5:50 Batman, Mask of the Phantasm. One of the best animated movies, but it was a box office failure :(
I loved Treasure Planet but I didn't even hear about it until it was on DVD.
this is the movie that needs to be done on live action! can make 3 movies out of it
It's a shame that there are some really amazing movies don't go well when it first comes out; But dang it's a blimmin good movie

Treasure planet hands down is the best movie I’ve seen lol
🤩 definitely one of my favorite Disney films.
What about how Warner Bros sabotage The Iron Giant and Osmosis Jones ?
Now that you mentioned it, I want to rewatch Osmosis Jones, I only seen it when I was little.
I remember being really bored by it as a kid. I gave it another watch over 20 years later now that I have my own kids and we turned it off cause they got bored too.
How brave of you to share your bad taste.
Wow, you have really bad taste.
