🚨QUICK NOTE ON THE EDITING: The choppy editing was unintentional due to a software glitch during the final phase that made our timeline unresponsive. If you find it challenging to follow along, you might consider reducing the playback speed using the gear icon. We appreciate your understanding of the effort our editor put into crafting this content, including the visual elements. 🎁 Interested in sharpening your storytelling skills? Thanks so much for posting this! John Musker and Ron Clements have helmed some of my favorite animated movies, so it was great being able to hear John Musker talk about some of his experiences and processes!

The stuff you do is golden. Thank you for taking the time to do these great interviews, it's so invaluable. I do wish you sometimes engaged more with some of the answers, and dig deeper, as opposed to waiting for the next question with some namedrop. Maybe you leave all that in the cutting room, but it gives a different impression otherwise, like we are being rushed. I wouldn't mind if these went longer, with moments to rest , I'm here for it.

Thank you so much for the feedback. It means a lot to me as I'm learning how to get better at interviewing people. Thanks for the note on the pace too. We won't cut upcoming interviews this way. We had a problem with our editing software after applying an automatic filter that detects and reduces even the shortest pauses, but it overdid it. We might repost the unedited version in the future.

maybe just re-edit and re-upload? Watching on a slower speed doesn't really address the problem (and is distracting in its own way). It's not so much the speed as the constant mechanical pace, with no time in between thoughts to let them sink in.

The opportunity to preserve this man’s wisdom and knowledge was incredible - but this BIZARRE editing wastes the opportunity. Why would you not allow small moments for breathing and for him to gather his thoughts? Human brains process information at that rhythm - you have taken something wonderful and butchered it, rendering it unwatchable. The fact this video is supposed to be about ‘the art of a story’, your video editing is entirely artless. Why undermine us, your viewer like this? Do you think we would of minded a video that was an hour long? Or an hour and a half long? Do you think your target audience are more likely to watch a 45 minute video, as oppose to enjoying a well-paced hour long video? I am a video editor (wedding videos and music videos, etc, nothing impressive) but I find your choice of editing here so sad, so short-sighted. Call me cynical, but I would guess there was a monetary reason behind chopping the video down to 45 minutes, maybe you earn more ad revenue that way. Butchered. In all my years, NEVER have I seen someone edit an interview to remove pauses for breath. Ridiculous.

Hey, thank you for your feedback and as an editor I understand your frustration. Unfortunately, a software glitch during editing caused this to export this way and making the entire timeline unresponsive during the final phase of the editing. This was completely unintentional and we'll repurpose the interview with no jumpy cuts in the future.
