John: Watching Sebastian learning everything with you just makes me smile. We will blink and he will be doing complete builds with you. The most important thing is spending that time together. Well done my friend. As always, meticulous attention to detail 👍.

Sure you could have done that in about 4 minutes, but spending the time to teach your son is priceless and worth all the extra time to do it.

Love seeing you show your son how to do quality work and not just rush through things . Good parenting

My father was a mechanic and passed away before he could show me how to wrench. Love to see that you're showing him the ropes and spending time with him.

I’m sorry to hear that. I was fortunately able to spend time with my Dad building, welding , wrenching etc, my parents divorced when I was 3 so I only spent one Sunday every 2 weeks. Thanks for the following.

Additional step @4:53 for the AP1 only: Dremeling out two heat stake rivets is required to separate the shifter boot frame from the center console insert. I used the spherical milling bit which worked well. I acquired the yellow stitched boot from the UK supplier directly - they have a different listing for years 1999-2003. The original boot removed had double sided stick tape and most of it came off with the boot, the new boot didn't have this of course. Be advised the new boot is a lot more stiff than the original boot and a little bit darker. Not a problem, just sayin'

Thanks for the comment. I forgot to mention the AP1. I did an AP1 a couple of weeks earlier and I used a hot knife to remove the plastic tabs/Rivets. The leather is a little thicker but still fits very well. We have more on order.

Great job by your son! Always nice to see you teach him how to do s2k stuff. :-)
I did this last week to my AP1 and it is quite different.. you actually need to drill out two plastic welds before the plate comes out to change the boot.. a lot easier on the ap2..
I used a jdm s2000 red stitched shift boot. Perfect quality OEM fit.

Are these the ones from JF customs? If so, they are great! Great quality, great fitment, great price! Used them on all of my cars

Hey John, what do you think about the absolute insane prices of s2000s in todays market? In my area clean ones are going between 40-50k. It’s kind of sad young kids will probably never be able to afford one.

@@LHTPerformance I have a Suzuka Blue 05. Can you link to the company that makes them? I'd like a Suzuka blue or standard black version.
