I paid like $8.00 for a new petcock off Ebay,...fo the 2 bolts there are 4 red washers,...but the rubber go's bad in the petcock,....get a new one or a rebuild kit. Mine took like a week. Your missing the intake plug for equalizing your carburetors,....thats a vacume leak. First open the bowl drains till gas comes out of all 4,... then you try to start it. The bike run's great. Good job
I do have my eyes on rebuild kits for the oem petcock. I am always a little nervous buying the cheap eBay or Amazon parts. I got the intake pressure line connected to the petcock now so hopefully no more vacuum leak. Thanks for looking out! I did neglect to add gasket material to the screws themselves! I’ll do that since I don’t have washers
totally new to motorcycles, but i have a 1980 xj650. I noticed your fuse box isn't connected in the video, is there one wired up and hidden somewhere or will they start with no fuses? thanks
Estoy por comprar un en argentina....es muy complicada poner a punto los carburadores y encendido.en baja y alta..gracias.tiene algun tema de fabrica que sea poco confiable.ya que los rep aqui son muy dificil de conseguir
@@justinhupfer4614 I have had Maxim with analog gauges also. They did come with either set up. Your Virago would have a V twin engine while the Maxim is an in line 4 cylinder. Both very fun bikes!
I’m not really a windshield guy but there are many universal ones available on eBay or Amazon. I know I have a few laying around for different bikes that I bought. Not really sure what fits on while bikes!
It's an auto Petcock. It's designed to ONLY supply fuel when under a vacuum. It's nice as you don't have to remember to turn Petcock on/off every time however if seals fail, the vacuum fails and it floods the carbs.. Personally, a manual Petcock is best. When it's off. It's off.
Love this bike got one home trying to restoring it
Looks like a runner to me too! Probably just had to get the rest of that bad gas out - let's take it for a rip!

Great find. Looks like a runner to me.
This bike sounds so good.
I really do love that sounds!!
Mines only firing cylinders 2 and 4. Not the same coil. Any ideas?
I would check wires and carbs. If the issues are not related hopefully they are being caused by a similar situation
Sounds good!

Someone removed it and wired it up directly. The box itself must have been corroded and not making connection anymore
Yes definitely I see it with the red tank

Where can I find a windshield?

What is the bottle that you used as a temporary gas can called?
Motion Pro auxiliary fuel tank. Great to have around the shop.
weird that the petcock doesn't have a off position?
