You always show your admiration and love for all things costumes, all things creative, and of course all things Batman. You're just overflowing with love and knowledge here and it's so infectious 😀
I had the chance to interview Carl Newman who was Michael Keatons movement double for 11 weeks on Batman 1989 was in so many of the key shots we see in the film. It was amazing listening to his stories of being in that 89 Batsuit it was truly a special time! Great video this was amazing to watch!
Long time viewer here Chris. This video is amazing. It wouldn't look out of place in the middle of a travel show, or playing in the queue area for people coming in. Absolutely SMASHED it!
Michael Keaton's Batsuits (and Batmobile) will always be my favorite. I'm well aware they're not very functional compared to later Batman movie costumes, but they still have the best color scheme in my book.
@@JDoe-gf5oz Well then you might as well go with Keaton's Batsuit from the Flash since that's pretty much the same as Val Kilmer's costume minus the nipples (and the rest of the torso design). I think the idea behind it was that it was what Keaton would've worn had he been in Batman Forever (and Tim Burton directed it).
But I have to say, my favorite is the Batman Begins and to prove how it works in the real world in normal lighting conditions, the video of Batman going into a market and buying loo rolls and milk, and being followed by phone paparazzi's and getting the Bat-bird flipped at them is Epic. That parachute cape with flocked velvet texture and that wide panther neck has the perfect Batman outline, Lindy Hemming killed it!
I got to see these suits at WB studio tour back in March but not the Kilmer or Clooney ones. I do wish these exhibits had the Begins and JL standard suit too. Seeing BVS in person though is amazing!
Loved this video Chris! Always a pleasure hearing you speak on the batsuits so it was sick to have you next to the actual suits when talking about them! Killed it💪🏼
Awesome video, one of the best bat suit tours I've watched. From a fan for fans! (I completely forgot about your second channel here till the algorithm suggested it for me!) I love your note when it came to the Bale suit from TDK being housed in a vault from TDKR! I was thinking, hang on a sec, that's from TDKR! Favorite Batsuit for me has to be Affleck's, he's also my favorite Batman and Bruce Wayne and Jeremy Irons is my favorite Alfred.
This is your second channel I had no idea cosplay Chris. Awesome job! I was born 26 years ago in 96. I turn 27 next month. My brother died 2 months ago. He was 34. When Batman & Robin came out he got the soundtrack on CD for his portable CD player. I remember the first time he let me listen to it. I had to of been 2 or 3. Ever since batman has been a big part of my life. Much love brother. Keep doin what you're doin. Stay safe and always watch out for cars. Especially semi trucks!
I went up to Movie World for Frightfest last year and was looking forward to seeing this exhibition. Unfortunately the exhibition was closed, so thank you so much for this mini documentary 👍
Great work Chris, beautifully put together and your passion shines through. Feel blessed, that you included my still with Bob Ringwood. Taken by David Gamble for ‘Life Magazine’.
33 year old me is very happy that you got to experience this - I love your Cosplay channel too. 🙂 Realised that the Forever panther suit, Begins Batsuit and Pattinson's aren't there. I really like Bale's Batman Begins Batsuit. I remember seeing that online and in magazines when I was 14; when the movie came out in summer 2005, 15 year old me loved everything about it 👌🏼 Overall the Begins suit is my favourite, Keaton's Batman Returns suit comes a close second - it's a tie after that between Pattinson's and Affleck's main BvS suit.
Jose also done the Returns cowl. Which is my personal fav suit and cowl. It’s a shame that this suit is mostly overlooked when the 89 suit is near by almost like they are the same when in fact they are very very different.
Fantastic job. Especially when you consider these things seem like they weren't built to last. When I had the chance to buy Hollywood memorabilia I passed. There's upkeep, storage and more importantly maintenance 😂🎉
Agree, vals batsuit is also one of my favorites. Also really liked bales begins suits. Liked it more than the others. But i believe bens suit is the most comic accurate and is the best hands down.
I'd have to say that the Micheal Keaton 89 suit is my all time favorite ,also this was an awesome documentary Chris very informative and I bet you were just over the moon with that experience thanks for sharing it tho man I enjoyed the show
@williamseneyjr.6277 that's not true at all, everyone appreciates 1966, we just don't talk about it cause it'd make no sense comparing it to anything past 1989. It's like a grandpa and the rest are your uncles
Two things that blew my mind when seeing those costumes with my own eyes; How small Keaton's Batsuit is, and how huge Val Kilmer's Sonar suit is! Nice to see the Batfleck love! His suit is glorious! Such a great video, thanks! 🤟🏻
This video is amazing, love your passion talking about this suits. I would love to see another video in this same quality but with another superheroes suits (Spiderman for example, or Xmen).
This actually made me appreciate the Batfleck suit. I never paid much attention to it because of how much I hated the movies. But it is truly amazing. Especially the one piece cowl being able to turn at the neck.
For me is the 1989/1992 Keaton batsuits, honorable mention for the sonar suit since it was used on by Christian Bale and Cillian Murphy in the screen test. The first 2 Batfleck suits are amazing, I only wish had Afflecks height since I think is onenof the few cowls I can see myself putting into. I love the Bale from Dark Knight and Rises, as well as the Battinson one for adapting the grapple gun into the gauntlets, alongside the hidden batarang in the chest. Also, damn from Cosplay tutorials and later on itno this awesome documentary, that's quite an achievement, congrats dude. 😉 These are my top questions, 1: Which is your favorite videogame Batsuit from the Arkham games? 2: Which batmobile would you definitely drive around? ( I also incluse the animated and the Arkham ones) and if you could choose any piece of every Batsuit from every live action film ever made, which are the ones you will use to put together your definitive custom batsuit? Cosplay Chris style. Kind of like the Savini Jason design for Batman suits.
Great minidoc Chris. My favorite Batman is Ben Affleck I just love how he looks in the Batsuit reminds me of the animated movie The Dark Knight Returns.
When you look at the Batman suits from Keaton to Bale, it's all "action figure" inspired and stiff like "iron-man" but when they finally got to Affleck, they took a bold chance at going in a different direction from rubber suit to cloth like material. And it shows this is a Batman who is not guarded and more experience, and just the figure standing looks so imposing like Jim Lee's Batman come to life. They nailed it with Affleck's suit as the most comic book accurate Batman suit going back to fabric and not some rubber coffin that actor's are sweating under the hot lights. Then they went back to the stiff rubber suit for Pattison in The Batman and I get how it's only his 2nd year as a crime fighter and he put it together himself. But it shows that what Affleck had in that suit was really special, only him and Adam West got the fabric suits where they could do their fight scenes and move with as much freedom as possible.
Amazing video, Chris! I love the passion that can be heard in your voice with every word! Also I find it hilarious, that even the Mr. Freeze's costume has nipples on it😆
Interesting. Wow the guys are Iron Head Studios are geniuses for coming up with the idea on the Batfleck cowl. My favorite suit of all of them is probably the Sonar suit from forever. Jose knocked that suit out of the park. Nipple'less and clean. Looks good to this day. Also it was supposed to be Keatons suit when he was originally attached. Furthermore, why don't they just replace all the latex cowls with fiberglass reproductions? The reproductions look like they were just filmed yesterday.. And since no one is allowed to touch them, what harm would it cause as no one would really know. Maybe place movie used latex cowls in a vacuum sealed glass cube or something. Anything to preserve it more.
Too bad Affleck´s The Batman story never came. It would been in Arkham Asylum, and a detective story too. Love his take on the Dark Knight! :) My God, those cowls look like "Laughing Batman" :D :)
I wonder why they couldn’t just use a leather or pleather cape for ‘89 Batman through Batman and Robin. If I had to pick my favorite suits it would be Affleck’s, Bales TDK suit, and Kilmers. Honorable mention to Bales Begins suit. Mostly because of the cape. It always amazes me though how people forget the costume for Batman:Dead End. That cowl is amazing and I’m pretty sure He turns his head in that film.
The tri tail bat symbol on the 89 suit was missed in the Flash movie. I seriously wanted it to be there. I know it was a different suit but that small detail would have made it incredible.
I loved batman returns armour abs. I remember hating the batman 89 promotional suit the way the Cape folded on the shoulders to make huge shoulder pads. I'm 40 years old. And was a batman fan from batman 66. It was THIS year when I realised that suit I hated so much WAS the screen used suit but with the Cape thrown over the shoulders. Its take 25 years to notice that haha
As a kid watching Keaton's Batman, I hadn't notice the wide gaps of his cowl, but watching it again many decades later, holy crap it's like a mask from Spirit store every Halloween. Then to see them do a proper Batman mask for Keaton that has no gaps and sits tight on his face for The Flash and the redesigned all black suit makes you happy and sad on the inside at the same time. Happy with how cool it looks but sad that instead of seeing that, we got Kilmer and Clooney instead.
Great video! So is any part off the Affleck suit with the 3D printed cowl screen used? I always wondered that with that one and the Superman/Wonder Woman ones you can see at WB Studios.
When you say the sonar suit cape is made of balloon rubber, I'm assuming that they custom ordered the thickness right? I can't imagine making a cape out of the same grade of rubber as store bought balloons and it lasting long enough for shooting.
Solid mini doc Arnies Ice Puns were awesome then and awesome now. I still think that suit is incredibly solid especially given Mr Zero's suits up to that point even with BTAS. Seeing the BVS suit is just a tragedy. We have seen perfection and every deviation from it is just sad. Not to say it's perfect like a the emblem, cowl ear length,.........or the shade off black/grey. Just it's the framework all future suits should be built on. Kind of why The Batman initially seemed less to me. But it also tried be a bit more clean then the TDK suit. I would really like to see a marriage between the Sonar Suit and the BVS suit.
The Kilmer panther suit has always been one of my favorites. I also really like the cowl from Batman Returns. I never liked the Affleck suit that much. I think between him bulking up and the muscles built-in to the suit, it's just too big and husky looking. It always reminded me of the Michelin Man.
Does anyone know what happened to the batsuits from the 1943 Batman serial and the 1949 Batman serial? I can’t seem to find any information about those suits anywhere on the internet unfortunately.
Good to see that Batman and Robin is getting respect for its production art. Everything about that movie was, and still is, larger than life.
That Batfleck suit looks so beautiful mere perfection

Best Batmobile but Kilmer's black suit was better (minus the nipples).

This has better production than any official Bat suit video I've seen! 🙌 also....melty Bat cawls are pretty creepy 😆
It's like haunted cowls looking for a new wearer to stick with and lecch out their souls before they decay💀

Incredible video! Loved seeing all the suits together, well done Chris and Josh you both killed it!!

Returns is clearly the best one. 89 cowl is too thick and bulky.
