he might've helped her pick radio-friendly songs to go on the album, but you must know, as a Ciara fan, Body Party initially came from the minds of Ciara herself and Jasper Cameron. They laid down the foundation of that record and then Past and Mike-Wont-Make-it came in later to give her the My Boo sampled beat and new hook.

@@TheMelody15 Basic Instinct track listing was not Ciara's doing. Jive, who went defunct after Basic Instinct, forced Ciara to leave off some of the best material she had recorded during those sessions. She had bangers like Blauw, Gifted, Listen To My Song, This Is What Love Is, I Don't Care, Shut Em Up, Flaws & All which all were radio friendly potential hits. Those record execs were sabotaging Ciara from all fronts.

I haven’t cared for any of Ciara’s music ever since she went independent and started having this pop generic sound. She was so much better in her Goodies and Promise days. I even loved her song with Crime Mob called “So What”. I wish she could get back on track. Her first album was everything but It seems she’s happy now with her kids and husband. ❤

I have every Ciara album. This woman is what talent is. You never hear about her screwing anyone over. About her being part of the illuminati. Going to industry "parties". You don't see her bashing other artist. There is always a light around her. Seems like a great mother. Has a great husband. Other than Janet, no female artist touches her on stage. I dont think the Jazzy Phae situation hurt her. I also dont think Future helped her. Other hip hop producers have worked with her and it was cool. I think her changing her sound hasnt worked. Even "How We Roll" with CB wasn't it. Crunk&B isnt a thing anymore but R&B is. She need to get back to that Promise, Body Party and Ride types of songs. Thats what we need from her. Her performances hasn't lost a beat.

We need a study done on why our multi-talents die out faster than the just-singers. Ciara, omarion, jacob latimore, prodigy, these are world class entertainers who could light any stage right now. and the multi-talents who are still relevant have contemporaries who are bigger than they are who only sing
i see it in the sports world too, fans in soccer & the nba seem to like the pure scorer more than the guy that can do multiple things elite

    • @pinkwakabeagle
      @pinkwakabeagle 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +45

My theory is that people with multiple talents (triple threat type of people) are harder to control. They have too much talent and creativity to be put into a box as a one trick pony. Whereas the one talent pony only has one chanel to showcase themselves and therefore are insecure and out of desperation allow themselves to be controlled. It also depends on the connections you have in the industry. Look at Miley Cyrus. Her father is a country singer, her god mother is a super star. Dolly Parton even own theme parks in Tennessee. Miley is very talented but also had people already in the industry behind her.

Like Taylor has her writing, Ariana has her voice, bey has her performances, even someone like jlo can actually dance. A lot of the people you named aren’t a master at any one thing, they might be good at it but there’s someone better at the same time. Ntm outside factors like hit potential, marketability, label backing, consistency, etc.

to sum it up - ciara's career is an example of how it is a must for a record label to truely believe in their artist & commit to them and if they didnt, sadly this is the outcome.

To me I always felt there was a interesting comparisons to Ciara VS Rihanna and tinashe mainly Ciara and Rihanna not bc of the iconic Twitter beef they had but mainly bc of how similar their career journeys have been I think what made Rihanna stick more despite having much more disadvantages and factors working against her was she had a smart business sense of her music, fashion and entrepreneurship reminds me a lot of 80s Madonna where like Madonna knew to be on top is to be ahead of curve against everyone or standout among the crowd. When the EDM, electropop sound was booming she combined that sound with reggae, dancehall, R&B and hip hop to standout musically against Gaga, Katy, and Kesha and then when that era was finishing its peak, she did a 360 with her 2015 droplet singles era and her masterpiece Anti. Even her venture in fashion and beauty, she still went against the grain and broke down both industries, Ciara’s business idea in music was always about going wherever the wind blow, going wherever it’s popular and trendy at the moment, never taking risks or taking herself seriously as a artist, even as a dancer, she’s reminded the same, where as someone Beyoncé evolved and developed into dancing styles and techniques that Beyoncé in the 2000s wouldn’t have been able to do.
For tinashe, I always envisioned her as what Ciara could’ve been if she was more serious as a artist and debuted in the social media/streaming era of music, like tinashe having all the issues she’s had with RCA of course she’s lot going to achieve chart topping superstar status but she is however well respected among her peers and has a huge International cult following fanbase I feel as a whole Ciara is a sad case of wasted potential with her music career but I’m so happy for her with her personal life amazing husband and family and has so many business ventures and deals she don’t need music no more but you can tell she still wants it

And the follow up singles platinum singles Speechless and Gimmie Dat. The Ciara album has went platinum as well and double platinum singles Body Party and I’m Out.

Ciara’s success seemed more like pure luck than anything else. She came out the hugely successful crunk era and had super producers behind her. She also filled the gap left by Aaliyah, being a performer whose powerful dancing made up for a not so stellar vocal talent. Ciara is a product of an era in R&B and is not a standalone talent that can evolve with the times.

I think Ciara does have longevity and has made an impact in music (rnb/soul). Yes Jazze Pha produced SOME (not all) of her earlier hits: 1;2 step, Get Up, So what (field mob song that featured Ciara) and Thugstyle + Pick Up the phone from Goodies. She had worked with other producers post Jazze that give her hits for example on her second album the evolution she worked with Pharrell (I Proceed) willIAm(Get in fit in), Darkchild (Can't Leave em Alone), Polow da Don (Promise & later Never Ever on fantasy ride) and Lil Jon (Thats Right & C.R.U.S.H) The Dream &Tricky Stewart (Ride) she still was a household name during that time and tbh her popularity only declined after her second album because she was introduced as the queen of crunk&b (although she always humbly declined that title) people linked her to JUST that sound so when she crossovered audiences and became international known with the sucess of her debut most were expecting songs that song like Goodies, 1;2 step and Oh but people forget ciara is an r&b artist crunk&b is literally crunk with rnb. She has always had longevity in music period because of r&b thats why if she releases some songs that dont chart as well as others they're still staple hits like (And I, Never Ever) etc she still has has her core fan base that have been there since day 1. She has had a messy dating history with Furture & 50cent mostly but thank God he sent someone that's for her and makes her happy plus blessed her with 3 kids and loves her other child as well.
Ciara is literally one of the only female artists who didn't completely crossover to pop like Beyonce (still does r&b) and rihanna (who was always pop) that still charts today and gets platinum and gold hits. I hate to do the names comparisons cause i love some of these artist too but girls that came out in Ciara's era of early/mid 00's most have stopped there (Ashanti, Nivea, Keyshia Cole, Amerie, etc) with the exception of Ashanti and Keyshia Cole both have 1 hit song each in 10's era the rest haven't even got that meanwhile Ciara has a hit every era if the album flops so she still will secure that platinum hit and now she's independent so all that money in extra residuals goes to HER. They said her career was done after Fantasy Ride but she has still secured hits in the 10's decade and is starting with the 20's
10's decade hits: 5th self-titled album- platinum (as of 2023) Ride ft Luda-platinum
    Body Party-double platinum
    Im Out- gold
    I Bet-platinum
Level Up-platinum, double platinum (as of 2023)
20's era so far: How we roll ft Chris Brown- (not certified yet but charting and getting radioplay with 35M views on youtube) Id say ciara has has a successful music career and yes the music may not hit the same as her earlier days its because she has a mature sound now and is a mom/wife so her music isnt as sexy-sensual and hood girl as before but she can still make cute dance tempo bops and can even do more ballads she just needs to work with current producers id love to hear her with Jazze again but he hasn't did anything memorable after Cherish.
Ciara has inspired many artist of the generation after her including Kehlani, Victoria Monet, Tinashe, Normani, Summer Walker just to name a few she has a special career in music where she can keep rebranding herself over and over with time and make hits as long as its R&B

I think the difference between Rih and Ciara is that Rihanna was more versatile from the start. Rihanna released Pon De Replay, SOS and Unfaithful in less then 1,5/2 years. That’s already so much versatility and that made her different from all those other girls. Those other girls were still doing the same sound and things.

She’s beautiful, she can dance, she seems sweet as hell and her voice is just fine. Her music as of late is super forgettable and not something I’d even bother with. Ciara’s story is very similar to what's conceptually going on with Chloe Bailey. For me, Ciara’s legacy was compromised by the clash between persona, aesthetics, authenticity, and the Internet. Ciara’a original sound, Crunk & R&B matched her aesthetic. Then as all artists do, Ci had to decide how she would evolve to expand her reach and longevity. This transition also happened as the Internet was encouraging stars to share more about themselves as people versus letting their talent speak. I distinctly remember when the public grew annoyed with Ciara for becoming more of a socialite and becoming the friend of Kim K, along with Lala. That's the Super Ci era. This happened around the time Ciara was exploring the road of going pop/ leaning into the Janet vibe. She had to define a lane that could keep the black audience while getting more white people to support her. This then created a huge issue around authenticity. I think she should have perfected the pop sound and stayed the course. Sex Live and Magic was a moment. Ciara just needed to perfect the sound and had to figure out how to take that vibe throughout an album. Because she had room to improve, many fans were not sold on her being pop. Then when she went back to R&B. Many of us started to see more of her persona, in which it didn't match the hood/ urban vibe. Which is why many see her, to this day, as corny. This is the Chloe correlation. Chloe energetically feels more like a good girl but presents a sexy, bad girl image. Ciara introduced us to her as this cool hood adjacent good girl but then went Janet but then back to sexy hood adjacent girl.. But talked like a valley girl.. Smh just too much lol Then yes, the situation with Future had many men stop supporting her. However, with tenacity, Ciara turned that breakdown into triumph. This is when the GP started to accept her more good/upper-class persona. From here, she needed to and still needs to find music that matches her persona. However, her being so seasoned in the game is working against her. At this point many of us want her to have her vibe/sound figured out. Also, why are her brand/mogul decisions not amplifying her as a dancer? The decision to pursue modeling, acting, and skincare instead of fitness, dance, and or dance competition shows. Smh. Poor biz decisions have also added to the GP losing interest/removing support. All and all. She's doing well but not sure she'll be as big as her peers. That's okay. She's still successful. Not everyone is meant to be the mega superstar. She doing well and there is a place for her type of Star.

Tbh I don’t see any parallels with Chloe and Ciara story. At a very early age Ciara established her sound. Although, birthed out of a trend she’s had to learn how to adapt with the time and culture to still maintain an audience. Marketing plays a huge role in her career and because she didn’t have a strong brand it would be harder to maintain the spotlight with the likes of Rihanna and B. While Chloe on the other hand was and is both an actor and singer simultaneously. She was beginning to find her sound with her sister but completely changed her sound/identity because she’s still learning and trying to explore. I feel like during the time she separated from her sister we saw her trying to explore and find herself personally and artistically at the same time. She tried to see what would stick to get a hit by pushing out music that was more sexual/body focused because that was/is keeping her relevant and engagement. Talented nonetheless, she has yet to find her signature sound in my opinion and she just needs time to grow and mature into it and not force it because it’ll make people not connect with her at all. There stories are different in my opinion.

@@jathanblake the end of your post is what I think Chloe and Ciara share in their career experiences. Like Chloe, Ciara was trying to find her sound and lost ppl during that process. Ciara is still deeply experimenting with sonics. We still can't say this or that sounds like a Ciara song. Also, parallel and correlation aren't the same. Correlation is a bit more casual and loose when describing similarity. Chloe and Ciara aren't having overt similar experiences. I was drawing connections around the concepts pertaining to lacking authenticity/ a firmed identity that could then translate through their music. You ended up articulating it in your post. I think we're on the same page but saying it differently.

@@jathanblake and actually Ciara’s initial brand was very strong. Just that the subgenre of Crunk and B wasn't. The subgenre was so weak it doesn't exist anymore. The industry reps foresaw that being an issue. To sustain, Ciara would have had to carry that sound on her back. This is part of why she made a pivot. Also, this speaks to lack of marketing. How would they market that? I think answer was fusing it with pop. Again, think Ciara needed to perfect thst vibe. Truly embrace being a pioneer.. Ciara came out when I was a freshman in college and had a distinct lane aside from Beyonce. She was actually better off than Rihanna🔥 However, when Rihanna🔥 made her switch.. It was more authentic to who Rihanna is as a person. Rih was always pop majority.. She just changed her approach and because it was real, the world fell in love with it. In short, Ci and Chloe struggle with creating music that embodies their being. Energy is undeniable and ppl can see through trying instead of being.
