      @@gunerkacz8678 While I'm not 100% positive of that particular trucks specs (Clifford), 1 ton duallys are generally in the range of 32,000 lbs/16 tons. Clifford is far more than capable of hauling a 5 ton truck. Even in the video, it's the trailer that failed, not Clifford.

    • @iamthecheese2737
      @iamthecheese2737 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Duca, it's easier to hunt deer with rocket launchers too, but that doesn't make it practical. So easier, yes, but not required. His truck was more than capable of hauling it. The trailer failed. That trailer with a tractor would've still failed. Why use a tractor when a 1 ton dually would've more than sufficed? Not to mention insurance and requirements to run a tractor trailer are much higher and uses more fuel, than to just take a pickup more than capable for the need. (Semis, yes even Peterbilts, are slower to get going too, even bobtailing they're slower than a 1 ton)

    YES I LOVE YOU FOR THIS! I’ve got 5 of these 6x6 monsters. The engine in yours is a NHC 250 Cummins. However, be careful with that oil leak because the military used one type of oil for everything in order to keep costs down on fluids like auto trans fluid, power steering, and everything else. So just in case, check the engine oil before adding any.

      Wasn't about costs it was about the fact that it's just easier to supply one fluid type then half a dozen. This was a military piece of equipment, they don't get a NAPA or Autozone to go for things when they are in a combat zone. Infact check out Appendix D page 262 in www.jeepolog.com/UserFiles/downloads/field%20manuals/BDAR%20tm9-2320-356-bd.pdf to see all the viable substitutes. Such as water being a substitute for hydraulic fluid as a last resort.

    In 1970 i bought a half ton 1941 powerwagon for $250. Had a hand crank could start it.. Built a stagecoach camper on it and had a tipi. Put the piles in top and went for 3 half years through 17 states doing farming harvesting fishing and construction for spare money. Lived the cheap life with my dogg and had the time of my life. Put 4 non directionals on rear and 2 new ones on front. Tires came from israel. What a trip spent time in various communes and hunting camps. Trip of a life time. Love to do it today but Im abit old. You trip me out big man. God bless in your fun

      You need a Soviet ZiL-131 6x6. It runs on any old piss fuel, petrol, diesel, kero, any contaminated mix of any old shit. Of course it only does 50mph top speed and you get 5mpg while it belches out pollution that would make Greta Thunbergs prodigal future daughters eyes water, but it does the job and doesn't need any John Deere or Tesla engineers to come out on a plane and hotel expense merely to reset the code to fix it when you have already fixed the problem of a leaking vacuum hose or other that caused an error code that was logged on Apples iCloud.

    I had a wheel fall off a single axle trailer with all my stuff on I95 when moving south.
    Pair of boat trailer wheels with radials were put on cause the bias ply wouldn’t have made it.
    There was rust on the inner part of the wheel where it contacted the hub, rust flakes off lug nuts loosed up and the tire passed me at 70mph. Sheared every single stud right off. Took a few off the other side and put the spare on then limped to auto part stores looking for wheel studs. One had two of them, another had four.
    Glad nobody got hurt it bounced off the center median wall a few times and I was in the center lane slowing down carefully.
    Later on I saw that the u-bolt holding the axle on the trailer had been worn down 3/4 past the nut. Another 10 seconds the u-bolt would have let go and the axle would have come out of the trailer.
    Very lucky that didn’t happen among other things.

    Heres a story for you. I was at work and had just had time before home time to get the head back on this Mercedes. we also had the speedo and gauges out of it tracing an electrical problem. My boss asked me "how was it going". I said "its back together and i'll get it going in the morning when i'm fresh". He said "we'll get it going now just to make sure as tomorrow going to be busy". (his talk for "I've booked to much work in for tomorrow"). He jumps in and tells me to watch it as he starts it all in one motion. It starts and runs beautifully. All of a sudden he revs it up and switches it off in a hurry swearing and gets out of the car covered in oil from chin to balls.. Mercedes have an oil line and mechanical gauge in with the speedo which is sitting on the seat beside him. As he gets out the oil line retracts back into the cavity in the dash filling it in oil and trickling out onto the nice cream carpet. Half an hour to clean that up and the boss goes home covered in oil.

  • @baine3388
    @baine3388 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    When I was in the Army a truck was only put out of service if the puddle of oil under it got to a certain size. You literally were supposed to take a tape measure, measure the puddle underneath, and put it back into service if the puddle wasn't too big. So the trick was you waited until the puddle was close to the size where you would take it out of service and then move it to a new spot so you could start a new puddle.

The VERY First thing I did was Change All of the oils and Engine Coolant. Napa has the Antifreeze that has the Anti-Electrolysis additive Already in it. Electrolysis/Cavitation Will Kill the liners in these engines. I run a 50/50 mix here in Arizona. Do NOT put Tap Water in a cooling system... Unless it is an Emergency. I changed Every light to LED, except the headlights of course. There are some GREAT places I have found to buy New and Used parts for these trucks. I drive mine in parades and other assorted functions ALL the time. It's an Absolute BLAST to drive!

      @@juanar6233 um, no it wouldnt. The weight is too great for just 2 single tire axles. He needs all 3. That trailernis rated at around 18,000 lbs load capacity. That means he has 3 axles rated at 7,000lbs a piece plus the 20% put on the tow vehicle. That military truck pushes 22,000lbs. He was already over yet we know those trailers are underrated on their weights. He already pushed 4k over and lost a tire. That means he is down to 2 axles rated at 7,000lbs a piece meaning no more than 14,000lbs plus the 20% on the tow vehicle which would put it around 16,000lbs on the safe side to just chain up the axle. Again, truck is 22,000lbs. We are talking 8,000lbs or a 169.5in wheel base tradesman 3500 truck at 6900lbs. There is no way in hell he would have made it 2 hours on 2 axles without destroying the trailer requiring all axles be replaced and possibly the frame being realigned.
