This is really great. I struggle a lot with taking opportunities, especially being autistic, but i’ve been trying so hard to just seize anything cool that comes up. Now I’m gonna be doing a mocap session on thursday! I’m kinda terrified but doing it is gonna be so much cooler than passing it up. At one point i didn’t think i’d ever be able to drive and now i’m about to get my license. I used to not be able to go into shops by myself and now i can travel to other countries. Insane what happens when I don’t listen to myself and just jump into stuff

People label us with things so we try to fit those labels to fit in, but once upon a time you used to play pretend and that never felt "fake" or "not who you are" - it was just having fun!
Gonna have to listen to the last ten minutes of this a few times to fully grasp the whole concept. But I look forward to it.
Also, regarding that point where you mentioned being raised in a Christian environment, I can relate. I at times find myself wondering if it's what I truly believe in or if it's my parents influence.
I've come to the conclusion that, yes, I do. Not because of anything my parents believe or because it was how I was raised, or anything... more because I have seen how that faith in God has created some truly remarkable experiences in my life.
I think it's healthy to question who you are and what you believe in. Cause if you can do that, it's a lot harder for people who don't have your best interests in mind, to sink their claws into you
Man I was a student in WV and we were highly competitive in marching band against the rest of the state. I'm not sure if you grew up in WV schools or were just close enough to know that much about Marshall and the people their jazz band recruited. Every marching band competition we always lost against the same school and it was terrible every time so much so when I started I was told that if they were there we will always get second no matter what. Why that school won so much I have no clue but it made us not try because quite literally we would be second overall and they would be first no matter what. They do dedicate more time to playing and marching than we did but it never felt like our hard work meant anything despite us placing in the top 3.

The thing about band just proves that the school system is flawed.
Also I somewhat relate as a band player who played percussion up until my freshman or sophomore year
