Something I appreciate about my irl best friend is he didn't backseat driver me when I started playing Elden Ring with him. He only gave help when I asked or he felt it necessary. He was pretty surprised at how patient with it I was

Genuinely incredible vid with a lot of points, ome thing imo is that you don't always have to try new games, like ive played the same version of minecraft for years now, sure it sometimes gets boring and i don't have fun, but then i try a different way of playing it and it becomes fun again and im able to spend countless hours on it, and another thing is that maybe people just need a break from gaming from time to time, like my all time favorite game is terarria, ive sunk over 1.5k hours into it, but often i get tired of it, then i dont play it for a while and it becomes fun again, so i dont think the only solution to having fun in games is hopping to a different game, because that kinda is chasing dopamine too, but instead trying the game differently, or just taking a break from gaming altogether.
But overall it's a great video dude.

this is gonna be a bit of a longer message lol
so i am a young speedrunner i have top times in ultrakill and that used to be fun for me now ive looked back and noticed i was mostly placements and not actual fun and this is a great example of how my whole view on games has been, go get the optimal times get the fastest times after speedrunning whenever i load up a new game i think abt everything as optimal i find the fastest movement tech i find a bug or a skip so i can go faster, this severly makes me not enjoy games because im not thinking of it as enjoyment im thinking of it like a job. Lately i have tried going back to games i played as a kid and i again just started doing optimal strategies instead of having fun i just completed the game anf then wondered why it wasnt the same, i rly looked backed at what i had fun with as a kid and it was the silly small builds i made out of dirt and made some roller coasters in creative and i wasnt thinking "how practical is this" or does this look nice i was just building shit for the fuck of it

I honestly thought you were a big TH-camr based off the quality of this video. Your storytelling and rant was very entertaining and I can relate to your perspective a lot.
I fondly think back to 1.2.5. It contains everything I loved about Minecraft. It was so simple. Now when I load up new Minecraft, I just get overwhelmed and lose all motivation to play survival because instead of aimlessly adventuring I have a checklist of things to do. It’s not fun.

my favourite genre of game has effectively died with the death of the 3ds and vita, even in japan where the genre is most popular
as soon as i finish my backlog all there will be is the occasional japanese indie game
eventually i will run out of games to play and be forced to play other games or make my own, i will enjoy my bubble while it lasts
i hope when this bubble pops there will be more stuff like lethal company where its just really fun to play with friends who dont take it seriously, or i can find more friends who just want to have fun in multiplayer stuff

With the sheer quantity of games being released, and the amount of quirky little low-fi games I see in that vein. A game that's very wierd, vaporwave-style, is called Paradise Killer. i am extremely active in the japanese and chinese communities that like the genre and all there is now is an occasional indie game since its generally considered boring (and some can take months to beat)

First off the level of quality from your videos is astounding, you just gained a new sub.
I get the idea that as creators of the game mojang do have the right to basically implement whatever changes they so desire, and from a strictly creative perspective this doesnt necessarily make it a worse game, just different.
However I do believe that as a whole there's some merit to the statement that Minecraft as a product has gotten worse, mostly from things outside the game such as lackluster half-baked updates, ridiculous decisions such as removing fireflies or the whole migration fiasco leaving hundreds if not thousands without their accounts.
I may be going off in a tangent here as this probably differs from the argument that you wanted to make but i thought it made for an interesting point of discussion.

I switched to single player games after I realized all multiplayer games do is make me angry and tbh I'm glad I did. I have so much more variety now (especially when I switched from xbox to steam) even though I mostly stick to my now favorite series:

The issue I have with older minecraft is that it lacks QOL like shift clicking and general inventory management.
I think you'd really enjoy a mod like Better Than Adventure. It's a Beta 1.7.3 modpack that adds quite a few modern features and QOL stuff. I had the same issues as you with classic Minecraft until finding that mod lol
You could also try Nostalgia Tweaks mod in new versions
Another thing, nothing stops you from playing the newer Minecraft versions the same way you played the old ones. You're not forced to go out and beat the dragon and collect elytra just because those things exist. Let the tryhards try hard. You can just go back to building silly little castles of stone and wood.

"Gaming is dead" Yeah elden ring killed it. Literally after playing elden ring i cannot play anything else. Its like getting a tatse of the best thing ever and then realising nothing else will ever come close to it
