The fact is the CPAP machine is the BEST option. I understand it may be difficult to deal with at first, but try to get over it. CPAP therapy is a life saver. You will sleep like a baby and feel fresh and alert every day. I got mine 5 years ago and had difficulty for the first couple of days, but I understood that it was the only way I was gonna get some real sleep, so I battled through the discomfort. Not really a discomfort just a matter of getting used to it. The effects were immediate. I was a whole new person. Also, if you're overweight, try to lose weight. That makes a huge difference as well. Good luck to everyone.
I wish that was my case. Been on CPAP religiously for 10 years. Never felt like a new person as I hear people say. Still wake up. Keep getting the same feed back from sleep studies and no real progress. just feel like they all want wo sell me CPAP supplies. now they want you to pay monthly too to "rent" the machines to make sure you are using them they say.
I'm sorry to hear that, amigo. Have you tried going to another doctor? 10 years is a very long time to be on CPAP therapy and not get any results. I would look into another doctor and also try to own your own machine. I bought my machine years ago. It was the best decision I made. Good luck with everything. @@bryanatkins8016
This is my fourth night on my cpap. (Ditched it for a full year, hated it). Going back over your content inspired me to try again! Thanks , Nick. You may be a lifesaver!
I have sleep issues and recently got a bed frame that auto raises on top end so I have elevated my head about 35 - 40 degrees. I also try and sleep on my side, seems to help a ton.
I’ve tried everything but the CPAP machine. Recently discovered the tongue sleeve device that looks likes a baby pacifier. $16 on Amazon. Took 2 days to get used to but snoring is in the rear view mirror. The mandibular devices made my jaw sore and teeth feel out of line for 30 min every morning. Saw Joe Rohan talk about the tongue sleeve and for less that $20, I gave it a shot. It works.
@@dkovack Yeah I don’t believe it. There’s no forward force exerted but willing to look at evidence. I’ll be using it for 27 months in the Peace Corps. Check back periodically.
I tried the CPAP for a year and it caused such a severe sinus infection that it took an MRI, about 8 mos, and several rounds of antibiotics to get rid of it. I re-taught myself how to sleep on my side, I already had an incline, and bought a side sleeper pillow. Surprisingly enough my sleep app hasn’t recorded very little if any meaningful snoring as I probably wake up and turn on my side. When it does it might say 1-5 mins. Far cry from the snoring that it would pick up from the time I fell asleep until the time I woke up. I honestly don’t miss the Cpap…at all. 😅 The one thing I’m still looking for is a decent side sleeper device. I’ll check out what you have.
Thanks, Nick, you rock! My Somnomed MAD made my apnea worse and it threw off my bite. It was a bad experience for me, but everyone is different. On a positive note, the dentist who made the MAD for me got me Invisalign to correct my over advanced lower jaw (huge underbite). So I got straighter teeth. 😁 A really strange phenomenon occurred with this: I used to be able to whistle very proficiently, but after this experience, I can’t whistle worth a 💩! 😢
I am lucky that I tried the F30i and it was ok (but lots of leaks) and my doc suggested the P30i. I was convinced it wouldn't work because I am a "mouth breather". To my surprise it works perfectly without tape or anything to keep my mouth shut. Your tongue automatically seals the back of your throat. LOVE my P30i!
I use 2 gel pillows as a wedge effect., works well for me. Did not like the collar or chin strap. There are several I have not tried. Thanks for all the suggestions Nick.👍
You look well Nick! If I eat too late it wrecks my sleep. Also sleeping on you right side enables acid reflux. Nothing like waking up gasping to breath right up there with the Charlie horse wake up alarm.
@@elizabethcalero2404 just started having apnea events again. My sleep dentist was gonna make the advancement bigger but it was hurting my jaw so just sleep wit more pillows to elevate my head. That seems to have helped and back on track now
MAD's carried me through my engineering degree. But then I developed TMJ so had to hop on CPAP finally. CPAP went well for 2 years (literally every night for 2 years straight) but then I noticed I was developing a habit where I want to push on my teeth with my tongue. Consistent cpap use seems to be effecting my gums and teeth to the point I am getting headaches from not being able to ditch the habit. The pain shoots from the area I'm pushing on, up to my head. Sleep apnea is such a lose-lose game. Not many achieve CPAP compliance, and the ones that are lucky enough to become compliant long term, get rewarded with teeth problems.
I couldn’t use CPAP until I found your videos. My sleep doctor sent me home with a AS10, 4min, 20 max. When you showed how to correctly adjust the air pressure, it was a game changer. I was immediately able to sleep with it all night. Thank you
I recently tried one and got light headed after 30 minutes. Took it off and felt like I was having an asthma attack. This was in the lowest setting. 4. Took it back. Was there a better way to do it?
Love your videos! Been using Resmed 10 for a few years after the Dreamstation debacle and love it. Mild apnea, variable pressure between 5-11 works great. Questions are: 1) if I get back to around 180-190lbs (currently 218lbs 5’9”) will I be able to ditch CPAP do you think? And 2) what is your opinion on mouth breathing at night? Is it actually bad for you? Should I try mouth tape to try and train myself to breathe through my nose only? Is there truth to those videos where people say that mouth breathing is terrible and nose breathing will change your life, or is that BS? Thanks for answering my questions!
Hi there, im from the UK, i have a CPAP machine on loan from the NHS ( National Health Service)I have the machine for a whole year before an annual review, and if i havent used it much/ found it difficult to tolerate then they take the CPAP back, ive a few months before my review and i havent used it as much as id like. Trouble is i like to wind down before going to sleep, either by reading or watching tv in my bedroom. I end up falling asleep whilst reading/tv. I wake up several hours later very very thirsty., ive got the woodyknows backpack to wear in bed and it stops me sleeping on my back. Im really not sure the cpap is for me as i have hEDS and sinus tacycardia as well as obstructive sleep apnea, all these medical conditions cause excessive fatigue. I feel constantly tired/fatigued and no amount of sleep helps. I wake up each morning with a hangover feeling, (and i don’t drink alcohol) i find it difficult to start my day feeling exhausted and unmotivated, i literally have to force myself to go to work and do a physical job. I work 3 days a week, on my days off im usually sleeping and i can easily sleep a weekend away. I struggle to do housework, there are so many things i want to do but dont have the energy!!! I feel like im existing and im not living, i also have depression, lipoedema possible lymphadema, vascular venous insuffiency in the main veins in both legs and also the superficial veins too and i have varicose veins. I have IBS, ive had prolapse surgeries which have left me somewhat doubly incontinent, i have asthma, hayfever, migraines- botox treatment. And I have roseca. I have pain from a RTA where my right foot was run over by a car in 2013, multiple operations later, in still in pain and have opioid pain patches and a spinal cord stimulater to help with the pain, i have to have my footwear soles adapted to take as much pressure off the painful areas of my foot. I know i have an awful lot to contend with, i really wish i had more energy and felt less fatigued. I take all sorts of supplements to see if they help and nothing seems to help, i even have vitB12 injections and i feel no benefit from them either but because i had a gastric bypass in 2004 i have to have vitamins and B12 injections for the rest of my life as my body doesn’t absorb vitamins because of the bypass. I want to try cpap again before my review in a few months time, what advice if any can you give me? whilst reading in bed i fall asleep, then wake up thirsty, sometimes i can get back to sleep and sometimes I’m awake for the rest of the night. I cant wear my reading glasses with the mask as it doesn’t work well, I’ve tried all sorts of masks and nose masks etc but because i sleep with my mouth open i find the full face mask the best, and the most comfortable to wear. I can fall asleep watching tv downstairs but once i go to bed im wide awake so i read as that makes me sleepy, i fall asleep whilst reading then once i wake up there isn’t much time left before i have to get up for work which is 6.45 am. I had same issue, use an alcohol wipe on your nose prior then dry off with tissue, wham good all night. You can get a box of 1,000 wipes from AMZN for like 6 bucks.
Thank you! The great thing about these tips is they are very inexpensive and simple to try. If you track your sleep using an apple watch or SleepHQ O2 ring you can easily track sleep improvements also

I had same issue, use an alcohol wipe on your nose prior then dry off with tissue, wham good all night. You can get a box of 1,000 wipes from AMZN for like 6 bucks.

Awesome and affortable tips. I might have to buy these up and test them out.
Thank you! The great thing about these tips is they are very inexpensive and simple to try. If you track your sleep using an apple watch or SleepHQ O2 ring you can easily track sleep improvements also
@@CPAPReviews Does the SleepHQ O2 ring only works for apple products and not android?
It will work with the ViHealth app on Android
