Such bittersweet memories. I was a very young woman back in 82. Two months later I was to lose my dad. But looking at these clips do bring back memories of how myself and my families and friends brought in the New Year, filled with enthusiasm, and energy. Now nearly 60, I just wanted to go back to those days for a moment to see the way we were. So many are no longer here, and I cannot believe this is 2018, and I'm in the autumn of my years. Well, that's life, and it's changes. Not all of them good. It's time to make a change America. Let's be the good we know we can be. Let's work on being better ppl. We know we cannot love everyone, but let's show each other the decency and respect we each deserve. Happy 2018 everyone. Most of my memories are good ones. I'd like to make and have more, as I continue to age, if the Lord permits.
This was the first ball drop I saw, I had just turned eight years old. And for those wondering, the ball was made up as an apple throughout the '80s as part of New York City's I Love New York campaign.
I remember watching this special apple-shaped ball drop on TV. For the past forty years in my head until i watched this again just now in 2023, i thought they literally dropped it and let crash to the ground and shatter, with the drop being timed for the apple to exactly hit the ground at "zero" in the countdown.
