- From Dec. 31, 1989, here is another New Years Eve at Times Square, this time with Natalie Cole and Brent Musburger. Taped from CBS - WJW, TV8, Cleveland. The time/date stamp at the top at midnight was generated by my SL-HF1000 Betamax, which has a built-in character generator.

December 23 1989.
And I died that day too.
1990 said good bye to one of the best decades ever, and welcomed a new decade. Two decades we’ll never experience ever again.
Happy new year bro in advance
You can say it was the best time in history, 1990 is right dab in the middle of the two best decades.
From one great decade to another..I wish i could experience the 80’s to the 90’s all over again
Damn at least you were around at that time.. I can't even begin to comprehend how different things were back then compared to now.
@@JTCLAN1 Same, born in 02 and unfortunately will never be able to experience the 80s or 90s.
Me too 😭😭😭
@@cocotaveras8975 Born in 89, I can confirm the 90’s was an amazing time for growing up as a kid.
@@JTCLAN1 It was a great time, far more basic way of living and not as much individual wealth BUT I preferred it as people were more optimistic and friendlier and politicians could still be trusted.
After this day (December 31, 2019) we say "goodbye 2010s; hello 2020s" also the first of the '90s babies hit their 30s!
Indeed
And the first of the 2000s babies hit their 20s!
@@gilesscanlon2586 I'm a '90s baby and I'll be leaving my 20s behind next year as I turn 29 this year.
Brandon Fisher I’m a 2000s baby who will be turning 20 this year ahaha in September!
I'm 27 right now in August of the year I will be 28
As a 42 year old, I divide my life into pre-2000 and post-2000. The World of pre-2000 has almost literally nothing in common with the World we live today. No cell phones, no internet(I know that the internet was already around in the 1990's, but almost no one had it), no instant communication, etc. Growing up as a kid, I did what the kds of the 1950's and before that did: I played outside, with actual physical toys, camping trips, playing sports, going to clubs and socializing with other kids in the wimming pools, etc.. On weekends, sleepovers at our friends' houses, going to the mall to meet other kids and then watching Jean-Claude Van Damme films on VHS or playing super-nintendo In fact, video games are the only thing that my generation did that kids today could realte to. What kid growing up in the 1990's doesn't remember playing Street Fighter 2? But even when it comes to video games, the variety was much smaller than today.
I was a young man in my very late teens to early twenties when the World became what it is today,: a World of "connectedness" where you are constantly in touch with everyone, all the time. I see kds today,. and they have nothing in common with how kids were back when I was a teen in the mid to late 90's. They seem more like human-machine hybrids really. They are *literally* glued to their tablet or smartphone 24/7. Even when they are pretending to do something else, like walking in the malll or watching a movie, they spend 90% of the time checking their smart phones for likes and updates. I went to the movie the other day, and the kids were checking their phones more than watching the film. It seems like they live in the "cloud" and the real World is just this primitive boring place where they must feed their bodies so that they can keep looking into their phones. I believe that a lot of the anxiety and suffering that people have nowadays is due to the fact that they are constantly connected to each other 24/7 with no breaks whatsoever.
There's positives and negatives of everything. Not everyone is looking for "likes", I personally use my phone to read and watch educational and historical videos. Before the internet, being an only child in a small town, I probably would've gave into pressure from neighbor kids to get on drugs, have no friends or real social outlet, and make more uninformed decisions my idiot parents wouldn't have prepared me for. So I think there's some good to it.
@@Kuzey457 Sure, but how many hours a day can you spend online watching documentaries. The vast, vast, VAST majority of teens are on social media checking their phones for likes and updates 24/7. It's kind of a hellish existence if you think about it.
huh, i'm 18 and i divide my life into 2005-2013, 2013-2019, and 2019-now
@@cyanideOwO You are too young to divide your life into anything. You're way too young, haven't seen or experienced nearly enough, and have no wisdom. When you were born, I was already 8 years older than you are today.
the end of the 80s right before our eyes 😭 there will never be another decade as amazing as that decade it's impossible to duplicate
12/31/89 I was a pre-schooler… the world was Golden & all my relatives I knew were still alive ❤️
Born four months earlier in 1989, but the 90's are still my decade. I spent more years in the 90's than I ever did in the 80's. I didn't even spend a single year in the 80's. The dilemma of being born in the last year of a decade.
Goodbye 80's.
Welcome to the incredible, awesome 90's!
yea! 90s babies kick ASS!!!
fuck that I was born in 89 and im a 80's baby because I was cooking in my moms womb in 88 and I swear I heard some Micheal Jackson in her stomach lol.

defpickles98 ! Yea well it takes about 1-2 years for a decade to change. The 70s really ended in like 82. Same for basically every decade
James7796ify Yeah. Everytime a decade starts (ex. 1980, 1990, 2000)
that year will have culture from both decades it's between.
Example, the year 1990 has half 80s culture, half 90s culture since the 80s stuff was starting to fade away.
+James7796ify
But this decade started early (in 2008/2009)
They didn't know that they had to punish their kids for listening to rap music later on.

I have memories from 1989 and 1988 I turned 4 July 1989 I remember that day cause my dad woke me up (it was a very bright sunny day)repeatedly telling me you’re four you’re four today. My mom pulled my pacifier out my mouth and gritted her teeth doing it cut up my pacifier with a pair of scissors and said no you’re too old for that when I pointed at the pacifier.
I remember taking a pic with Tony Tiger Mascot at the neighborhood grocery store and watched Halloween 2 for the first time on Halloween 1989. I asked mom if she remembered the pacifier thing she said yes. I have many memories of 1989. I really miss the 80s and 90s it doesn’t even feel like it was 31 years ago at all. Not at all.
