The advert shows the patrol as if he works like real droid and stops at dangers and such...if it's gonna fly off table and break them maybe not buying it...this review has been the best so far by showing the actual app and product. Been great watching it :)
This is the only negative review i have seen on this half the time the battery was really low if you notice BB-8 is flashing red most of the time.And in patrol mode he can map the area somewhat depending where you're tablet or phone is.If you keep moving the tablet around during patrol he has to remap the area.Not saying it's perfect but he does bump less into stuff.
So... This toy has a functional shelf-life that's limited to however long you have a device with an OS that will run the app, or however long Sphero continues updates (or exists as a company, for that matter). Since I'm guessing the little guy costs more than a few bucks, I'm not at all interested.
+Lam Sterling I've just started doing the waterslide decals, and those work perfect for things like that. After the decal softens it falls right into the slots. For paint, you can can try a black Gundam marker and just fill in the sculpted slots. Or thin down some paint, let it run into the grooves, and then wipe off the excess.

Yes it is discontinued, just got a second hand one only to find this out. Thank fully though if you have an android there is a work around but to be honest after getting it’s apart from roaming around it’s not that great. I would spend money on something like a cosmo instead way more intelligent

Its called sphero edu after u made ur account press drive scroll to find bb8 set evrything up ur stand for bb8 usb bluetooth then boom u can control it.
sounds like the r2 one is still better I bought the ex wife one cause she was in to him and I thought it was cool 50 bucks brand new of eBay it was one of the originals from early 2000 and the one they realsed last year is pretty much the same thing like stroomtrooper blaster I had from 96 when I was 7 has been remade numerous times so what I'm trying to say is looks like he r2 one is cooler and you won't step on it
To everyone who is lost about the app. It was discontinued. However they app that supports it now the Sphero EDU. these droids still work today

The best place I play with app controlled BB-8 is on a pool table. I cover up the holes with cups.
