I need to find someone who looks at me the way you look at a rectifier
😂
HAHAHAHA
With disgust. lol. 😂.
3 channel sounds less muddy though. Can hear each string. Less so on the 2 channel.
Both sound awesome! Your Rev F looks and sounds killer, Great video
I feel like with the right pickup, boost, and speaker, ANY rectifier can be a great amp - i've never played one I was unhappy with after tinkering a bit - they're not always 'plug and play' amps, necessarily, but I have a hard time agreeing with folks who say that this or that rectifier is "bad" provided it was in proper working order
This video is gonna shoot the prices of triple recs through the roof haha
The Road King II is the best Rectifier ever IMO.
Owned the RK2 v2, 3ch recto, rectoverb 50 v2, single recto, Roadster, Mark v25, nomad55...the best mesa I have ever owned...Badlander with HM2...not even close the BL one is a lifetime keeper
Thx for the demo as always, my man. Can’t put my finger on it but I’ve never been able to get excited for that Mesa sound. Each their own of course.
Morning bro! Here for the chugs before work!
Hey fluff, love the channel, been a fan for years. Ive noticed that rectifiers and related curcuits are some of your favorites and the tones are great, but i find myself lost on some of the info you reference when talking about them. So i was thinking that maybe sometime you could do a video explaining the different types of rectifiers, the history, circuit info, features, etc. It would be super helpful for those of us who dont know as much about them other than the basic sound.
Sure. Here ya go. www.rectifierguide.com/
Never knew they sounded different turned up. In the 2000s we wanted the new ones…b/c they were new.
I think a simple eq would make them indistinguishable from each other
I got my 08'-09' 3 channel for $1000. The this is great.
I absolutely love my early 00s 3channel dual rectifier, only recently bought a 5150iii after 20 years to try something different, still use the mesa live as my main amp. Fortin Grind for boost = killer
I've got a two channel triple. It was my main gig amp for years. Now I'm using the stealth so I don't have to worry about my triple getting stolen 😂
Damn, had a Rec C+ 3 channel Dual Rec for a few days that was flubby, harsh - everything that people dislike about the non-MW 3 channel Rectos. Still looking out for a Rev C in hopes it sounds great!
Hello, I love your channel! I would like to know if you can give me an opinion about the Mesa Boogie single rectifier rectoverb 50w. Is it the same as ordinary single rectifiers? same circuit and transformer? It only has a reverb and nothing else?
I scored one of those early 3 channels for $1k last year. With the matching 2x12. Just needed new tubes. How can you go wrong?
got my Triple Rec i think pre 2010, for basically $600. The seller thought it was broken and required a re-tube.
Fluff --- Roughly what serial number range do you think would this be in?
Up to 18000 maybe
@@RiffsAndBeards Thanks!
OK, but which Recto do I need to get Cannibal Corpse Bloodthirst tones? Cannibal Corpse has the ultimate recto tones.
Gorgeous guitar.
Fluff what year is your 3 channel?
2000
Fluff + Dual Rectifier = The Thing
yeah that 3 channel was definitely more mid forward, but boosted in a mix you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. to my ears, the rev f boosted sounded like the 3 channel w/o a boost, with just a bit more of that recto bottom end...
Still don't get why people hate on the 3 channel rectos so hard, I've got a late 2009 3 channel blacked out dual and its been amazing. I just keep the loop engaged, boost in the front sometimes, and its mega.
I need to figure out my Triple Rectifier’s revision.
I just recently had my 3 channel Triple Rec modded by Nocturnal Amps, ser # R-037484 (shout out to homie Kyle Bull for selling me this!) modded to be a Rev F and it's the most beautiful thing ever! Series loop mod, fresh tubes, ALL of the saucy goodness!
am I crazy or did you have a video from the other day about how guitar marketing needs to change? Because I saw it in my feed and meant to watch it, but now I can't find it.
I took it down.
@@RiffsAndBeards gotcha - must have been some spicy comments lol
@@MattPula The worst comments.
@@RiffsAndBeards well even though I didn't get to see the video I sincerely appreciate you trying to open the conversation - the cycle of having every channel in existence drop a release-day video simply isn't tenable in the long run.
I know you've got thick skin, so the response must have been pretty bad for you to pull it.
@@MattPula they weren't "the worst comments", a lot of it was legit constructive criticism and clearly any form of that is just too much to handle. Why post a video looking to start a conversation then? Other than learn from it, it was simply taken down.
You can get that great for even cheaper with NAM captures!
NAM is awesome!
have a rev f. never really dialed it in yet. any suggestions? diode settings/ bold settings. etc?
Isn't the rev c the 2 channel? I thought they didn't start 3 channel till rev f or g???
3 channels have many revisions. Link in the description!
I like the rev C.
So where does that leave the 2 channel rev G?
Can we get that tone with a PRS MT 15?
Do both these amps have the early 1990's Shuguang China factory tubes? Or does the 3 ch have the next gen pre amp tubes after it?
Both amps have JJ in V1, Shuguang in rest of positions
@@RiffsAndBeards cool, I recommend EHX 7025 in V1 in any high gain amp. The jj is okay but that is kind of more dull/low frequency range favored and pinch more noisy then the newer EHX 7025. My 2 cents.
Glenn fricker is here
He is? If so, he would just say “change your speaker” ahaha
3 channel for me.
The 3 channel actually sounds better in this circumstance. I just sold a 3 channel that didn’t sound anywhere near that good. I’ll have to keep an eye out for an early one.
When you say "early"? U mean 2000-2010?
2000-2002
they both sound like a rec and if you record half a song with a rev F and the other with a 3ch. you would never know unless someone told you. the 3ch has a much better clean and you dont have to flip the switches on the back. If the 3ch good enough for all my nu metal heros it good enough for me.
You love an A chord kid.
I heard you really love a D
@@RiffsAndBeards I know the scientific word for D. It’s Weenie. I like mine.
Loves D in his A 😂😂
@@RiffsAndBeardsDMaj
I personally think I like the Three Channel better than the Rev F in isolation.
The only real difference is probably that the capacitors are just getting old in one of them.
To my ear the 3 Channel Rev C sounds better. I like whatever it’s doing with the high mids.
Red channel on this and the multi watt get close. Orange on them is way different though than an F. Honky mess in my opinion on the orange in the three channel iterations.
The amount of rectifier comparison videos is hilarious to me.
Got to feed the algorithm.
Oh I am so sorry I forgot this is your channel, please sir tell me what you want me to do.
@@RiffsAndBeards take it down a notch. lol. It’s not a negative comment. It’s not necessarily positive but also not negative. Also, your response isn’t as clever as you wish it was.
The three channel sounds better to me.
Rev C sounds better, less harsh
Id take the 3 channel over that rev f honestly
Never understood the appeal of Rectifiers. They mostly sound muddy as hell and need a lot of micro dialing to make them sound good. A great percentage of every band that I ever saw playing with those amps live had horrible guitar sound.
They make a great foundational platform for pedals.
@@RiffsAndBeards Sure spend some thousand bucks to have a platform for pedals. Oh boy!
"in a mix they are the same thing" - Glenn Flicker walks into the room and gives a no shit face
Glenn is a hack goblin.
So apparently a $1600 amp head is cheap now? “Not a lot of money”
If we are comparing a $4000 amp for the same tones, yes.
I don’t see what makes any amp worth $1000 or more. Besides the name on the front. But yeah fair enough I guess $1600 is cheap compared to $4000 lol
@@SINBADsRiffsif it makes you feel better I picked up my 3 channel triple for $750. Deals are out there. Support mom and pop local shops and you will be rewarded. My favorite thing of I go to a new town is look up the local small guitar shops. It’s fun and negotiations in person are always exciting. Just a thought.
@@SINBADsRiffs The price of amps confuses me too honestly. People love saying it's because it's made in the USA, but there's amp builders making hand made amps under $2k brand new.
Dave Friedman says it's the labor that's expensive. Which, makes sense. People think every career is worthy of a six figure salary. lol. So a brand like Friedman has to hand out multiple six figure salaries, which is how you get a $4k amp.
Plus he's doing business in california. He said doing business in California is very expensive. Doesnt make sense why you would continue there but i guess i know nothing. lol.
@@wheresallthezombies my guitar rig right now is a Marshall origin 50 as a pedal platform with the friedman BE OD because I refuse to pay thousands for a real Friedman head lol
