"Are cOrY wOnG a JaM bAnD?
Every month? More like twice a week!
Mark is a generational talent, incredible timing, understanding of harmonies and melodies. Just incredible to have his recordings available in such a quality and to get to see him in person.
come see us on tour this fall! he's gonna be out with us all tour
Arrangement felt *very* Snarky Puppy, esp. in the beginning. Mark must've felt at home! This is a great track!
Not a bad thing for sure!
This is definitely a masterpiece that makes you feel powerful sensations!
I had this on in the background. I've got auto play on, this came on with me knowing what it is. I 100% presumed it was a snarky puppy track i'd never heard before haha.
Mark was already home with Cory around
Yes! It sounds like a blend of both snarky puppy and Cory Wong.
Mark’s approach to melody and guitar tones is amazing and unique, very characteristic of his work. Loved this tune and execution!
Both of my current favorite guitar players together, it cannot get better!
He's nasty
He really created his own style. Those cats are the best ones
He's not a guitarist, he is a real musician... same for cory...
Mark is phenomenal, period. Full of soul, feelings, technique, accuracy, superb timing and incredible dynamics. I honestly think he is super underrated and imho among the top very best players alive currently. Please never change Mr Lettieri, you're awesome and unique!
I'm late to the party with Mark after hearing Fearless Flyers when they got together, but you're right, incredibly underrated.
His phrasing is really distinct and original and his tone selection is so nuanced and varied.
Well said. Completely agree.
I love the moment at 3:00 where it sounds like Nêgah Santos replies to that rhythm Mark plays! Such great musicianship!
I feel like Mark is one of the first non-country or non-surf guitarists to make his mark playing the low end of the guitar. Great track.
Nice observation.. Love that element of his playing. Mark can really rock a baritone too..
@@willpopemusic Agree! Anyone even remotely interested in Mark after this should check out his "Deep: The Baritone Sessions" albums
I always think of Greg Brown of Cake too
Tony Iommi
You should pay better attention.
That slight moment between falling several hundred meters and jumping off a cliff is when Mark went back to the main riff after that insane solo. What a player.
Killer comment :). haha, for SURE!
For real. That shit's so good it feels like it was edited in post.
This song made me realize how much of a role Mark played in the sound of the We Like It Here album by Snarky Puppy. Do not know why I have missed it until now but I am glad I have been awoken.
For sure. I actually didn't know the guitarist by name, as that album was my first intro to SP and Cory Henry and Larnell Lewiskind of overshadowed a lot of what happened there, but after the first two bars of the song I googled "Is Mark Lettieri in Snarky Puppy because it was so identifiable. I went back and listened closer to the guitar on the whole album after my first listen of this song, and really appreciate what he was doing there. It's funny, because I am a guitar player, but when I heard Lingus for the first time I heard the keyboard and the drummer going nuclear, and after reading that the drummer learned the song on the flight over and then played like that under Cory Henry's nuclear solo, it was mainly what I was listening to in that tune. But clearly the great lick he plays really ties the whole song together in a very important way, and his playing throughout is superb. I mean, all those dudes are insane, to be fair
I also didn't realize he was a a founding member of the Fearless Flyers. Holy crap.
also don’t forget how much pressure was on the brass instruments after the solo 😂, they nailed it
Negah Santos is like the queen of "exactly enough"
its absurd. i like to solo everyone out with each play through to see exactly what they add and where and Negah is ALWAYS just on the right amount. she knows when to come in, when to leave, when to add some accent and when to sit back. It's really crazy how auxiliary percussion can add so much but not even be on 99% of peoples radar
This song makes me want to go to Home Depot in a Ford F150 and get stuff to build a SHED
this is soooo good, you are all the best, what a fantastic musicianship. love it.
Holy shitttttt Mark’s guitar’s tone is so goddamn good
Yep it's a baritone guitar.
@@inspektorsowa this is not a baritone guitar. This is his signature PRS Fiore, a traditional electric with HSS pickup configuration
One of the tightest, most in the pocket bands I've heard. Really incredible.
Oh please please please get Dr. Steve Vai to get funkyfried by Cory and the Wongnotes!
Big Snarky Puppy vibes while still being unmistakeably Cory & the Wongnotes
My first thought too. Had to scroll down to find this gem.
The only thing that gives it away is that crazy funk in between the heavy riff
Dang. Cory and Mark. Two of the absolute best in the biz right now. Straight fire! This is my new jam.
Concrete is an accurate description for what I'm feeling after Mark's final lead phrases - Rock hard 💦
Amazing arrangement
Ew
Fine, but we didn’t need that emoji…
This track is such a great blend of Mark and Cory's respective styles. I've been jamming it since the album dropped. Makes me hopeful for a Mark/Cory collab album similar to the Dirty Loops/Dave Koz ones. How about it Cory?
Well, we already have 2 CDs of Cory and Mark because of the fearless flyers?
@@TheMusicCrack Not quite what I meant. Most Flyers tracks are written by Jack and both Mark and Cory's solo stuff is quite different stylistically.
A rare opportunity to be in the 10 first comments. I'll take it.
this is ridicolously good. Mark taste on every note and phrase he plays is outstanding
Enter! Sandman!!! Taste some funk! Jokin.
Superb track. Superb collab.
Bass player channeling Jaco Pastorius. Amazing.
Sweet mother of heavy funk, that song was slammin’”. This new album is going to be soooooo good
It's already out!
I love that Cory’s able to keep the whole sound of the band at the forefront of our eat yet showcases the talent of his guests in such a precise and unique manner
Loved that solo. Thought I was listening to Scofield for a second.
Wanna know how to sell a signature guitar, this is how!
Mark looks soooo weird without his Fearless Flyers shades!
Stray away from anything Snarky Puppy then lolol
He does’nt when he plays w Martin Miller too ;)
Looks weird without his “funk beast” baritone
2:46 is that a facebook messanger call?
Are you kiding me!!!!!!!!!!!!
No!!!! It’s frikkin awesome, right??!! 😆👍
I haven’t heard something THAT good in a long time 🤯
Cory is like a robot 🤖 who was made specifically for playing guitar, dude is locked so heavy is like his consiuosness is in second plane.
That Fiore is amazing! The energy in this track is incredible. Wong + Lettieri is a killer combo IMHO.
I find this band similar to a group that was popular in the 1970s. That group were Scottish band Average White Band. They had hits such as Pick up the Pieces and Cut the Cake.
Dope performance. It is great to hear a Fender Strat in convo with a PRS Fiore....they complement each other
Gotta get me some white jeans - that'll improve my playing for sure...! Awesome stuff.
Wow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Didn't know Mark Ruffalo played guitar, dayum
Sounds like Herbie Hancock hang up your hangups influence.
Mark is looking a little like Neal Schon and sounding a little like Jeff Beck in spots....
Mark has the most beautiful of phrasing and tone. He has that distinct sound and funk to it. Love it.
And i don’t think i have seen anyone that enjoy rhythm guitar as much as cory. Love it!!!!
How is this so good!?
They must be independently wealthy?
Great band + great arrangement + Mark Lettieri.
@@PhatTrumpet2 is this live? I'm curious!!
@@miguelmorais YES. Cory's rule when on set is all live with the only exception being background vocals and sampling (Big Wild comes to mind) with minimal audio processing
How is this good at all?
Wow! Absolutely stellar. Definitely getting some Jeff Beck vibes with that solo (among other inspirations that I can't think off the top of my head, lol). So amazing!
Beck would play higher....
@@levondarratt787 true, but I meant just the style of playing in general. I like Mark Lettieri's slightly deeper sound.
Great track - wish Petar took those dampeners off his snare and toms just for this song though. This song deserves a cracking snare drum.
the funk breakdowns on this whole album have been great, but the one on this song really speaks to my soul - love it!
I was hoping this meant a Mark Lettieri Wongnotes episode but then you drop Nate Smith on us!
Oh my freaking Gawd!! This is fN nutz!! Soooooo goood!
The drummer’s keeping it tight! Well done, everyone!
BOOM!!!!!!! My computer just exploded!
lLft handed drummer and bassist
come on man come on. what are you talking about this is insane!?!?!
4:16 oh my goodness! The energy almost blew the roof off of that place! Insane. ♥️
Best part in this video
Lol, the happy trumpet guy never stops grooving
Haven't seen a pretty PRS like that since I was a big Opeth head back in the day
wowww dude mark's got the sauce
This felt like Hard Rock and Funk combined
Hard Funk
Mark’s specialty
John Meyer should be next on the show!
Who's in?😁
That would be awesome
Good Lord ...it's like Superman appearing in the MCU.
These guys stand on the shoulders of the greats - and simultaneously forge new ground and in their own way stand alone... Frankly amazing
this is amazing what the hell
wowwwww 💓💓💓💓
2:28 thank you Mr Sonny T
HOLY FUCK!!! that was toight
beautiful phrasing, lovely use of octaves.
Man I love this content! Keep it going peoples! 💪😎
I get major Satriani vibes from mark
Are you people CRAZY?? 🔥🔥🔥
I love this so much
How the fuck they get Bono on drums!
What a FACE MELTER of a song
Wong must have massive calves hahah
What incredible choices Mark made within his playing and with the selection of the WHITE PRS FIORE!
LOL, yeah, she's a beaut', Eric! (I love my Amaryllis Fiore.) Amazing performance all around by everyone!
Omg Mark was amazing love it all. But can y'all focus on DRUMMERS?
*Slightly biased myself
is this John Mayer from Wish?
Burning!
Im still impressed how good their live records sound, musicians and engineers are insanely good !
That was one tasty guitar solo
Did I just hear a super mario a tag at 4:32 ?
Thank you, shared!
Mark is such a star. Loved by the jazz people, funk people, rock people. Dude is Van Halen, Frank Gambale, and David Williams in one.
I think you must include some Jeff Beck influence in there too.
@@johnb7889 Look up his solo on Snarky Puppy's "Grown Folks" live at the 2018 Django Reinhardt festival. It has Beck written all over it.
Keep the FUNK Alive...
I don't know if anyone will enjoy this as much as Lampley did.
He's my favorite to watch during these songs 🤘
I love how he keeps to the tune and its composer. He doesn’t just address technique but the song itself.
How long till Cory writes a movie/show soundtrack
😊💚💚💚💚💥✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
🧡 🧡 🧡
Ah yes, good music.
Probably the first time i see both bassist and drummer left handed
Amazing! And so groovy! P.S. Am I right, Petar is back from Serbia? I'm worried about his and Cory relationships more than about my own)
holy shit
That is one cool cat!
that was Phresh!
Ok the ending was amazing!!
Mark's tone is insane!
This is so good
Aesthetic
HOLY SHIT
so cool bro
Good lord!
Insane
SHEEEEESHHHHH
