    If you think your opponents are such fish that (1) they only have overpairs, and (2) they never fold overpairs, but you bluff them anyway, then you’re the fish.

    Given his characterization of the opponents and how they never fold overpairs, this seems like a prime spot to just call in position and try and get there.. tons of outs against KK/QQ and not doing terrible against AA. This is where you just try to draw cheap then put pressure when you hit and the pot is already bloated. Raising the flop is total fancy play syndrome.

  • @DaveCompton5150
    @DaveCompton5150 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +48

    Didn't this guy say that people "get married" to pocket pairs, then proceeds to raise them because "I have more straights and two pairs and can fold them off of AA/KK, blah, blah. blah, blah"? Seems like the hero identified a weakness in the villain's game, then decided to implement the worst strategy possible to exploit it.

    Man this Hero is so fucking dense. He polarizes on the turn when anyone with equity like QQ is more likely to call since they can boat up, AND people might level themselves into calling thinking you're trying to blow them off the hand because a shove doesn't look valuey. Better to pick a better sizing, then wait for a brick river OR your spade, THEN jam.

      Guys like this are prevalent in my area. Do well in the 1/3 and 2/5 streets because they have some knowledge and the hubris spins up to 5/10. Unfortunately, the opponents at those stakes have two advantages to his type: they’re either playing with fun money that they won’t miss if they stack off, or are consummate pros that have done it for a while and burned off their arrogance through introspection or experience.
      Not even digging the caller, I know I felt like I was hot shit when I moved up and had to take some serious hits to realize I still have a lot to learn.

  • @davidculhane4388

    All you guys are ragging on his play, but Bart actually basically agreed with the flop raise. Could this hand have been played a little better given the villain and the table's description, sure. The caller also agreed with Bart about the turn shove maybe not being ideal. He was open to learning, but just wanted to explain his thinking at the time of the hand. This channel is for those of us loking to improve our game. The comments I see on here are far more arrogant than anything the caller said.

  • @Jermo484

    That flop raise seems so bad. His entire setup is that the guys are idiots who stack off with overpairs and his range is entirely overpairs. The scary turn cards are still going to be trivially easy to bluff them off on even if you just flat flop.

    Live poker is a social game. There’s a good chance that those “fish” at this guys table were doing what I would’ve done. Play solid, TAG and wait for the ‘GTO wizard’ to overplay and overthink his marginal hand and bust him.

    Are fish even folding AA/KK here? Hero has the As, so V can't be in there with AsKs. It seems to me that when fish recognize an aggro opponent, they get even looser with their calls, so we have to bluff them even less. Better to take a free card on the turn, hope to catch a 5/4/3/2 of spades, and stack all of V's AA/KK/QQ/JJ holdings.

    Oh Jesus, the biggest issue with amateur poker players is they think everybody else is a fish and they know what they are doing. Here is a dude that trashes the competition then literally does everything wrong to get stacked. This is the kind of play a drunk degen makes rather than just bets it all on pai gow hands or 22 black. Your advice to the guy should have been to stop and become self aware rather than put down the play of the competition.

      It could be better titled but I think he’s referring to the jam on the turn looking more like a bluff (which it is) rather than value, hence giving his hand away.

      The guy spent 5 minutes making sure everyone knew just how bad his opponents are, then went on to play one of the dumbest hands in the dumbest way I’ve ever seen. He deserves to be put in line.

    QQ and JJ are just both so likely. Also truly drippy players just can't fold AA. I'm just speaking objectively when I say I think the Hero in this hand played it as poorly as you could. He created the least amount of advantage possible. The whole point it the whale will stack off for way too much way too lightly.

    He’s afraid people gunna come eat him not that they gunna catch his fish😂 for a “thinking” player this one is rough. He describes them as bad then tries to bluff them with the worst line when 1/2 of his likely hands are top set🤦‍♂️ and you don’t try to bluff non thinking players.. he’s thinking levels above when he said himself they are bad yet expects them to have the same logic as what he’s trying to portray? Makes no sense to me

    It's really funny watching call ins where the caller talks like they're a sharp with a giant edge over a bunch of fish, only to get completely bodied in the comments about how bad and illogical his thought process is.

    Caller is using skewed logic. First, he says his opponent will never fold an over-pair, even if the jack of spades were to hit the turn, and then he shoves the turn anyway and says he's trying to fold out AA or Kk???

  • @JMTavares7
    @JMTavares7 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    There is probably a little too much criticism on the caller because of his arrogance; And it was his arrogance that allowed him to to call with his hand in between preflop, which I think is the great sin of the hand. Everyone is getting on him for bluffing, but if he isn't gonna try and take it away from his opponent's on that board , with his equity, literally when is he ever??

    • @vegasknights4103
      @vegasknights4103 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If his opponent gets married to hands like AA and KK then people are seriously doubting villain will fold there. If villain has KK he is probably just happy no ace is on the board. And he could have QQ.
      Why try to take it away (even on that board) if taking it away basically means you’re punting? Villain has higher equity here.
      Remember the plan PF was to call, try to hit and then get value. Not to call and punt off to a station because you try to bluff him.

    • @vegasknights4103
      @vegasknights4103 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No point in trying to be balanced if your opponent is a station when he has overpairs in this spot.
