Actually there was a moment I was like "omg this makes so much sense" but i miss read the scene still ,it was when makima told that she can control anyone who she thinks i less of her ,and when power came back i thought omg this is perfect a stupid narcissist defeating control.
You know, when I saw that scene of Makima teaching Denji about intimacy, I immediately thought of it as debunking everything the Manosphere preaches and represents. Now, I think we need to give hedonism its due and figure out how to give sound advice and assistance to young men so they do not fall for such harmful rhetoric and ideologies. And, of course, help them to forge happy and healthy connections instead of competing against other men and treating women like trophies. Chainsaw Man offers us a good place to start and we need to expand on it.
The video was pretty thought-provoking, thanks for making it. I'll need to rewatch it to add any comentary of value so til then, an all go rhythm offering. Good luck from here on
Loved the video. I've always found it odd when people don't understand what you called reactance. I thought of it in terms of ethics and respect, but it's the same thing: don't take someone else's agency, it sucks and they'll be mad at you. Invariably they are surprised by the reaction, though.
I just wanted to say that I usually watch videos a 1.5x speed but I had to slow down and rematch anytime you played any of the music. I freaking love the OP and ED songs, they are all on Spotify and I listen to them like a mixed tape left for me by Denji and Co. Chainsaw man is the best argument for no skip ever.
Sadly I had to pitch shift and slice up the OP to avoid the copybots. The original intro that my patrons got to see flows a lot better IMO but this one works too
Hi, this comment will be a little unrealated to the video, but I still wanted to communicate something. You are one of the best channels I've ever found on TH-cam. I found you a few months ago with your video dedicated on bpd we're you analyse Farnese from Berserk and since then, it has been a real pleasure to discover your videos one by one. I have learned alot from watching you dissect my favourite pieces of media, and thanks to this video to whom the comment is attached to, you have actually peaked my curiosity and make me want to learn more about philosophy as a whole. I've been struggling with TH-cam as a whole recently, the algorithm is shit and only proposing content that genuinely doesn't interest me. I love learning and the more popular stuff on the platform trend to not interest me, so I feel very lucky to have find your chanel. I guess what I wanted to say out of this rant is thank you for the content you produces. The small moments of humour as well that the way you expresses your opinions has been making complex thematics easily approachable for me. You are criminally underrated and I hope all the best for your chanel in the future. Keep on ! (Ps : I'm sorry if this coment was a pain to read, I'm not used to post comments under any videos at all, even less English ones as i am french.)
Your english is wonderful and thank you for the kind words! My content can only provide small windows into much bigger topics, but I'm glad to have inspired someone to learn more about something they didn't know before. Genuine thanks
44:54 Okay, if i may vent a little, I'd also like to point out how absurd that line of thought is because it doesn't go questioned enough. It requires stretching the meaning of selfishness far past it's breaking point. This becomes a lot more clear if you flip it and try to argue all actions are selfless. People would immediately call you out on your bullshit if you said, for instance, that stealing is altruistic because you're freeing them of the worry and care needed for said possessions. But because of the negativity bias, if you make similar leaps in logic to try to disprove altruism, people just give it a free pass. Maybe it's just me, but i don't think that we should overlook absurd justifications for a pessimistic worldview just because life can feel really shity.
Thanks for reigniting my love for this manga. You always manage to find the words for why the themes of works like CSM and Berserk hit so hard from a leftist reading. Have you ever read Banana Fish??? I feel like you'd have so much to unpack from that one (specifically the manga, as the anime changes the time period and waters down the politics considerably)
I watched the excellent James Somerton video on BF but he typically uses (very good) queer analyisis and progressive analysis rather than a lefty/psychological one so perhaps there is something there. If I can find it ill give it a read!
@@PsychoSocialism unfortunately, it would seem so I’m pretty the only image we have of Fujimoto’s face is that time several years ago when he made a video of himself trying to levitate 💀
Not sure if this is in your wheelhouse and if you're familiar with the game or not, but I've always found the psychology of the characters in Final Fantasy Tactics very interesting -- particularly the characters of Weigraf, Delita, and the main character Ramza. Would love to hear your take on it.
I played a few minutes of it years ago, I played a lot of tactics advance but never the original. I've heard that the story of tactics is exemplary though, maybe I'll give it a go!
@@PsychoSocialism I'd highly recommend it! Do make sure to play the PS1 original version (it's not too hard to find an emulator for, haha), as the PSP remake re-translated it into a sort of silly Shakespearean dialect which loses a lot of the punch, imo. Also keep multiple save files.
i kind of find this ironic how you go on about "makina is wrong for trying to make a utopia where u arbitrary delete things to make a PeRfECt WoRld" and then hint at "yeah so uh anways, we should totally just delete capitalism to make a perfect communism utopia without any bad movies"
This is reupload to fix a few audio issues! Please be sure to hit like to give it that algorithm boost!
Came for Chainsaw Man, stayed for articulating everything about my moral philosophy better than I ever could.

Writing this before I watch the video but I am so excited to see a Chainsaw Man video from this channel!

I love your channel. Can you do a video about Kaiji and capitalism and addiction?
Did anyone get reminded of Monika by Makima?

Sad part is that lot of people are just gonna write off Chainsawman as a boob anime
