In the 1970's my father and I reverse engineered the physics involved in dowsing (the same physics that energizes the alarm on electronic metal detectors), and we invented the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod for applying physics in dowsing to locate our old core-drill on the exact center of gold and silver veins, that are buried under 200 feet of glacier rock and till, which worked out perfectly for us. I wrote the book for teaching the world how to apply physics in dowsing with naming my book: The Art of Dowsing - Separating Science from Superstition ($14.95), by Michael Fercik, explains all the physics involved in dowsing and teaches how to build the modern light weight ball bearing dowsing rod, which is the only dowsing rod that accurately gauges the element being dowsed by pitting the energy of gravity against the energizing of the pure one-tenth ounce dowsing rod load that is tapped onto the ELEVATED acetylene welding rod , which free spins on ball bearings. This precisely gauges the dowsing of all edges, exact center, depth buried with angle of deposition, and most important is grading or deciphering the amount of the dowsed element that is contained in the elemental mass that is being dowsed. Everybody can become a professional dowser by practicing my book's dowsing lessons of buried pipelines and electrical cables, tunnels and voids, precious and base metal placer and load deposits, dowsing for treasure, dowsing for any element, amplified long distance dowsing from a moving vehicle, and dowsing on water from a boat. I hope dowsing enriches your life intellectually and financially.

I was homeless in Cleveland when a friend and I saw a public water worker in a parking lot where we would sneak to drink and we saw a worker using these rods to follow water lines under the pavement and he showed how this worked. My friend asked he could try and it didn't work for him. I worked them and I was shocked. They would cross where the water lines were for me. I often thinking about looking for gold.

I believe in dowsing and I always thought the rods crossed slowly or with a weak turn but when I felt one hit finally the rod vibrated almost and turned hard and pulled like it was magnetic being pulled by a magnet, I thought the rod was snagged on something at first because it was turning so hard! The word "dowsing" comes from the Middle Low German word Schlag-Ruthe, which means "striking rod". In the 16th century, the Cornish dialect translated this word to duschen, which means "to strike, fall" in Middle English. The term "dowsing" became common in English by the 17th century.
Dowsing is an ancient practice that involves using a forked stick, a Y-shaped metal rod, or a pendulum to locate hidden substances like water, minerals, or treasure. It's also known as water witching or divining
