Dr Croley describes the typical methods used for measuring the eye to determine the strength of the intraocular lens to be used during cataract surgery. There are three common instruments or technologies used for measuring the eye; ultrasound, IOL Master, and LenStar.

My eye doctor used a OBS instrument to measure my eye shape. He advised against a multifocal IOL as i had not uniform in the symmetry. So he used a monofocal in the cataract surgery of my dominant eye two days ago and now i have superb distance vision. But for the left eye with the same shape i asked if he could give me a nearer vision IOL when he does the cataract in a few weeks. He is going to look into it when i meet him again before the surgery.

Thank you for the video. I am about to have cataract surgery over the next few weeks. My prescription is about -25.00 in both eyes, so it's a little tricky. I have a good retina, however, my cornea is scared due to my wearing hard lenses for all these years(I'm 48, so about 35 years). I realize is have been a few years since you posted this video, but I was wondering if you know of any case similar to mine and how it turned out? Thanks

Wish i had never had it done. Doc made cuts in my eyes to correct for astigmatism, that was bad too. I have a bag that holds lens with wrinkles. Says he can lazer that out. Headlights will blind you. Sun light is bad too.
