    Stumbled across your channel while looking at tower videos but I must say you've done an amazing job on the boat. I have a similar boat, (1996 Bayliner 1750s) and I will be using your videos as a guide. You have motivated me to tackle my own project and liven up my boat. Thanks for the awesome content. Cant wait to see the finished result.

      Thanks Tony! It has turned into quite the project... but I will give you a little tease, I finished it last Thursday... got lots of videos on the way, just taking forever to edit everything, but what I can tell you is that it looks nothing like when I started!

    How strong are the reinforcement plates you installed? Do they stress the surrounding fiberglass any when being towed from? My 89 has an aftermarket tower, but i don't trust for my buddies and i to wakeboard from it without damaging fiberglass. Wanting to do something similar awesome boat man!!

    Is trying to install the tower without a secure piece of wood etc within the fiberglass secure? Fiberglass isn't very strong and I wonder as to the stability of the tower?

    • @MileHighCampers
      @MileHighCampers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We installed the custom aluminum plate that we made (as suggested by the manufacturer) to help reinforce the fiberglass. The other critical part is making sure the tubes are positioned far enough apart to distribute weight correctly. There is no doubt that the fiberglass will stress, anything that you could think of to do to reinforce would be helpful. I'm sure there are many different ways it could be done. But there are no guarantees, drilling thru the fiberglass is technically compromising the structures integrity... Is installing a tower worth the risk? That would be a decision you would have to make.

    how good is the lateral stiffness on this tower? from side to side does it wobble

    • @MileHighCampers
      @MileHighCampers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not bad it does wobble a bit, I think checking the bolts to make sure they stay tight is probably a good idea every now and again. I have an Airboom Tower on my New (used) boat that was over 2K new and it wobbles about the same.

    When will you be adding the speakers?

    • @MileHighCampers
      @MileHighCampers  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Abe Molling, Thanks for the question! I've already installed the speakers, got most of the install on film, I can actually make that the next video I upload, may be a few days though need to edit all the clips together. Stay tuned I will upload it next, probaly will include amp pacement in that video as well. Thanks for watching!

    Does it fold down? I am thinking about buying the same tower but would like it to be able to fold down.

    • @MileHighCampers
      @MileHighCampers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. Yes as far as I know this model is designed to fold down. But you basically have to loosen all the bolts. Now truth be told I never folded it down because I was worried about snapping the speaker wire. I think this could be avoided if you had enough excess wire coming out of the main tube and you added a plug on the end of the wire.

      @@MileHighCampers I have a similar Bayliner as well how does the fiberglass hold up while pulling tubes and knee boards?

    • @MileHighCampers
      @MileHighCampers  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@freddiewalker9490 It is my understanding that the tower is Only designed to pull a Wakeboarder. I see people at the lake pulling tubes with their towers all the time, but everything I have read says that the Tube puts too much stress on the tower, even skiers can put more stress on the tower than a wakeboarder. With that said we never chanced it when we owned this boat. If you have a similar boat with an outboard motor you can use the following item to pull tubes, knee boards, skis, etc.. amzn.to/2K80brL This is what we used and it attaches to your tie-down points on the back of the boat and it splits the rope around the outboard motor. If you have an I/O there should already be a tie point in the middle of the rear of the boat to pull with. This is just based on my personal experience, I'm not an expert and their are probably a lot of other opinions on the subject, so please do some more research to help you decide what works best for your situation. Thanks for watching!!
