  • Car Dealers And Manufacturers ARE SCREWED!
In this video, I discuss the Stellantis layoffs, Nissan offering dealers money to take cars, and how the current car market is not looking good for dealers and manufacturers.
My name is Brandon and I am a used car dealer. I created Car Questions Answered to share the ins and outs of the used car market from my perspective. I share with you updates on car prices, what's happening at the dealer auctions, and what it's like being a dealer. My goal is to share information to help you make the best decisions while buying a car to save you money. I do not want car dealers taking advantage of you.
Thanks for watching and please feel free to leave any comments you may have in the section below!

Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is knowing that you don't put a tomato in a fruit salad.
Sadly, we have people with knowledge but no wisdom when it comes to buying a shiny new car. Spending money they don't have, to buy something they don't need to impress people that don't care.

He laughed, said they spend maybe 2k more to build the cadillacs than the Chevy equivalent, but they slap that badge on and charge double. On top of that, it was only costing about 15k to build say an escalade, but they turn around and charge 100k. Yeah, 50 percent cuts aren't unreasonable. It's just greed and stockholder bs.
Edit: btw this was years ago, it possible costs have gone up, probable even, but they still make massive profits per vehicle. If they didn't, the plants wouldn't be able to keep producing.

I've been in the market for a car since my transmission died in July last year. I outright REFUSE to pay what they're asking so I chose to walk instead. On bad weather days I'll take a cab. It's about 3.5 miles each way to work and while not ideal it's been good. But I still check in at a few lots and I still see the exact same cars there that were there in August. 6-7 months and nothing moving. I've checked on a few of them and the dealers have absolutely refused to budge on the price at all saying they'd be losing money but how much more money have they lost just letting them sit. I told one guy that my $20k is better than letting the car sit and rot and he laughed. That was just before labour day last year. The car is still sitting there and it's dropped from $27k down to $22k now but even if he met my price I wouldn't take it on principle. He had his chance.

I’m a mechanic. The problem I see with keeping them running is the crazy prices to fix them. $200 an hour. Parts prices have stayed pretty reasonable but the quality has tanked since ‘20. I see so many parts bad right out of the box.
If everyone stops replacing cars then labor prices will go even higher, labor quality will get even worse than it currently is and parts will become scarce. We need new cars to be pumped into the supply. Manufacturers are just going to have to rebate the hell out of existing supply and start making base models again.

posted on your youtube channel 5.3.23, Ford is toast, most manufacturers will be toast as well!! Why? capital and earth destroying EVs and too much focus on SUVs and Trucks vs keeping a few lower priced cars and sedans lines open. Toyota will be the biggest winner especially when they realize they could sell a boat load of high mpg, low frills, low tech cars like the Yaris and likely make $$ on them. I drive a 2007 Yaris, roll up windows, manual locks and nothing tech. I love it!! I have 221K and still going strong. I used to own a few Subarus and tracked ALL expenses to come up with an all-in-total cost of ownership of .41 per mile. My current '07 Yaris has an all in total cost of ownership at .21 per mile with an all in city/hwy mpg of 35mpg and has saved me roughly about $36K in ownership cost vs a Subaru that I owned up to 215k miles. Hopefully someone from Toyota will see this and go low tech high mpg with low low ownership cost like the 2007 Yaris; you will win in the end!!

In this State, flooring cost is referred to as inventory taxes. And they’re quite high after a 30 day grace period for each unit.

Y'all gotta get this crap figured out. This has even impacted the price of a good riding horse! Yes, I've been reduced to riding horses to the store. On a good note, you don't get many recalls on them.

I've known a couple horses that needed a recall. In my neck of the woods people are dumping horses like stray dogs. Had a couple neighbors find a horse in their pasture that someone dumped and ran. We're having to padlock our pastures. I used to ride in my younger days and going to say I don't miss it.

Like me I think many knew that there would be a break point where people could not, or just would not pay the ridiculous high prices of new cars and trucks. It looks like we're at that point. Of course we also have the stupid over priced dealer fees that add to the stupid high vehicle prices.

I like your videos. They are interesting and right to the point. My father was a used car dealer. He passed away and my brother continued with his car lot in Eagle Pass,
Texas. I worked as a used car salesman for them for several years. I became a school teacher and even though I am now 68 years old I am still teaching. I lost focus
as to where the car business was. I am using your videos to update my self on the used car business. Thanks.

Watching the relationship between auto manufacturers and dealerships is like watching a dysfunctional family where the parents and kids both blame the other for their woes instead of being honest with themselves and each other to fix the problems.

I have been watching prices for 2 years.
But due to $800, $900, $1100 etc prices, I can not avoid that?
And the quality isn't the same. Plenty of videos of 1 and 2 yr old trucks and the motors going out. Having transmission problems at 40,000 miles.
Heck TFL has a video and a new Tacoma 4x4 broke on a small crawl.

It’s a shame when the various manufacturers do away with beloved vehicles only to replace those with pieces of overpriced , electronic tricked out, poor quality/ durability; butt ugly pieces of crap at twice the price. Then wonder when people don’t buy and nothing moves. But then it’s easier to always offer up something new and different at a much higher price point than just going and taking a loved established model and jacking the price up $20k or more. Some of the more stupid buyers would wake up and see an issue with that.

Thanks for the video. Do you usually list your inventory on your website/car listing site? I live in an area where it would be next to impossible to find any decent used vehicles below $5k, or at least where I've been looking. It almost feels like below $10k, small dealers just don't put the effort into listing their cars.
