In my early years, I shared an apt with 2 other musicians. We would rush home from early gigs to catch Fernwood, and later America, Tonight, which aired at midnight in Dallas)
The whole thing was genius! The band - Frank 'Happy' Devol et al (I got to play wit drummer Colin Bailey several times when he was living in Dallas in 80's); the late, great, Fred Willard; late, great, Kenneth Mars, etc.
    Thanks Wreaking Crew!

    Sure, I’ve seen this before.
All of us serious Fernwood Tonight fans have tracked down the limited number of clips available on TH-cam.
Barth’s purplish shirt says it all.
And by the way, the word is mirth not “merth.”

The Mirthmakers led by the incredible Frank DeVol (Happy Kyne)! Those guys are such well-respected, experienced musicians that puts The Tonight Show's or practically any other TV talk show's band to shame, and that's hard to do. Martin Mull and Fred Willard in the same room were like TNT together. One laugh after the other. Mary Hartman Mary Hartman, and Fernwood 2Night were simply acquired tastes compared to most of the drivel on television. "Skateboard Angel" indeed.

Either Gayle Levant, Katie Kirkpatrick, or Martha Dickstein. They were the top 3 in town. I think it was Gayle? If I got Martha’s name wrong, sorry.
