  • Stripping and painting Victorian sash windows.
    Always be careful when stripping old paint due to lead being in old paint. Wear a suitable dust mask and wash clothes and overalls when finished.

    Have you ever used dry seal putty ?.I use all the time now a lot more expensive than ordinary putty but last for years and always stays flexible. There is another one made by I think geocell which is also good . Great video as usual,just keep on learning new things from you all the time"

    Hi I’m working on some old metal windows on a house what’s the best way to get the old paint of them and do I use red oxide paint one it’s down to the bare metal

    • @PaintingandDecorating

      Well if a heat gun is out of the question you will have to use paint stripper and scrape of the paint. And yes red oxide should be perfect.

    Excellent video as always, very informative and professional - what primer or undercoat would you recommend? oil or acrylic

    • @PaintingandDecorating
      @PaintingandDecorating  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends on what your priming and how long you've got... thanks.

    Could I ask whether you use any sort of guard to protect the glass when you're sanding down the mullions ( if that's the correct term for the glazing bars) I've loads to do and been thinking of just buying a paint guard or using a float butted up to shield from scratches. Many thanks for your help and excellent videos....Bill in Exeter.

      Thank you. We just use sandpaper and never touch the glass. Make sure your sandpaper is not touching the glass before you start and keep checking it.

    Can u help me please just had my living room decorated my ceiling has a ceiling rose .round the edge of my ceiling rose I have a circle of paint about 6ins all the way round my ceiling rose that does not blend in not very nice to look at how can I blend it in it is matt emulsion white it was slightly like this before it was emulsion I asked the decorater to blend it in it looks worse all my carpet has been laid so can't make a lot of mess I can send u a photo if you like thank you in advance micky

    • @PaintingandDecorating
      @PaintingandDecorating  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well sounds like it's not been laid off properly and then rolled close to the edge of the ceiling rose. In that case you will have to sand down around the rose to remove brush marks, then cut in and lay off correctly then you may get away with just rolling the part near the ceiling rose. If that fails you may get away with just rolling the whole ceiling again without cutting it in around the edge.

    I'm sure you'll make a good job of it but all I can say is rather you than me. They look like a total nightmare to prepare and paint.

      Yes especially in this heat but good satisfaction when you get one done. Luckily it's day rate.
