I make something similar for trolling for any salmon species. I make them about 4-4 1/2 inches so they can hang past my hoochies and there is some extra flash! I use a tube tying kit on my fly vise with the help of a gasket from a buzz bomb so it will not spin off the material I place on the skirt heads. I use super glue as well for a cement. I’m in Juneau Alaska and a friend of mine moved to Anacortes and he said he caught his limit on coho in 30 minutes trolling by himself! He sent me a picture and said that they work in Washington as well!!!
That is awesome josh, I could only imagine they absolutely destroy coho! Yeah they do very well for kokanee on my lakes up here as well! ive been itching to do some coho fishing ive got to make that happen this year! Also a huge dream of mine to go to alaska for Chinook/Coho
Yeah less can work great as well! I have had a lot of fish on these ones I do a small wrap for the Kokanee hoochies and more wrap for the salmon flys. I have seen a lot of people use just a couple strands as well and have had success! So I guess as long as it’s not over kill you can find a lot of fish with these hybrid hoochies
I watch your video when you were in your kayak testing your hybrid hoochie and kokanee fly. Your hoochie hybrid seems to do better than the fly. I also noticed your fly was only one color mylar. Have you tried the two-color fly? I don't know if that was an old TH-cam video. The lake you were on was beautiful and the fish were large. What lake were you on?
Hey thank you! Yeah the hybrid hoochies do way better than the flys I even did what you said and made many multi colored ones and still the hoochies out fished them so i discontinued the flys and now i just make the hoochies! It is Hayden lake up here in north Idaho!
I love how excited you get in all your videos. Great job on this one.
Glad you enjoy it!
Like a kokanee tube fly... Badass!!
Tienes mucha energía, y se nota tu pasión por las moscas que atas. Saludos🙋♂️
