    Hi everyone, this is duck curry not turkey. I did say turkey towards the end of the video in error but it’s definitely duck ❤️🙌🏽💕😅😅

      No problem Solina . I do appreciate your videos very much . I am probably much older than you are ( not disclosing my age) but your videos always reminds me of my late mum’s cooking which I believe was the very best. I learnt so many techniques from her in both cooking and baking .
      Thank you for excellent videos.
      I compliment you on upholding the traditional South African cooking style.

I have received many comments saying the same that my cooking reminds them of their mum or grandmother & that it the ultimate compliment. I’m very grateful to be able share these legendary classic recipe with you are and so many others on this platform who appreciate good South African Indian Cuisine ❤️ Solina

    Aaww man, game is second to none. Let me tell you a story, my mum used to boss a cornish in the open fire albeit once a month or 2 when her brothers used to visit. I cannot describe the mouth watering notes hitting passerbys..me being one of them before I entered the yard after a good days football. Growing the guys and I did a lot of duck, goose, turkey and ofcourse fresh chicken on the open fire on our infamous black pot. Duck in a curry, oohh...the gravy is out of this world, this is infused duck fat and damn...its like riding shotgun with Hamilton. Being a roti boy by birth, yes u guessed it...mielie meal roti, my mum being authentic Tamil blessed us with thr most delicious mielie meal roti, what comes to mind is the gameyness of the meat, tough and so delicious, I can just about get the cinnamon, cardamom, jeera notes as I write this..nostril blowers, this is a dish with character...Duck a Orang'e..why do the Europeans over complicate something simple, duck in a plate piping hot in a curry freckled with dhania, there is just but one way, no la Orang'e and its over complicated use of orange glaze comes anywhere close to what we deliver with soul. I was patiently waiting for a gamey dish and Sol has plucked it right out the proverbial sky, this is a dish of beautiful semblance, the high note, the C major...the game changer, anything more rustic is still being fabricated, just not in Natal...our "mense" wrote the book and perfected the curriculum. This is where we nail the entire duck..not just the breast..this is where we gnaw into that skin, its tough, its delicious its absorbing..beautiful dish Sol, u took me back home, home to the hills of my Natal, the air I sorely miss, the tastes and ambience I might never again experience....outstanding !!!

    • @PerimasKitchen
      @PerimasKitchen  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amazing Randy 🥰💕❤️ I surprised myself & expected a very gamey taste & couldn’t believe that the combination of spices really just made this dish so incredibly flavorful but keeping that authenticity at the same time. I love your awesome stories down memory lane, it just reveals those lifelong bonds & treasured memories created and the bonus is the delicious food. Thank you Randy ❤️

      Sister Shana...I live in Gauteng, bore capital al la existenc'e...I am a Natal boy, I was raised along the green hills of Northern KZN where the air wad delightfully crispy and fragile while paying homage to our orange sun breaking over the hills, where the smell of cow dung broke through the musky smells of the ripening apricot tree in my back yard, where the musky aroma of garlic accompanied my dads muffled whistling whilst cleaning garlic for my mum at 5 in the morning, where the dust after a good rain was heavy with the richness of our untarnished and virginal earth..a place where you were a son to 60 mothers whom fed and spanked you in one sentence..a place where we swam in dams, dongas and ponds, caught carp in Spionkop and Chelmsford dam, braaied the entire night over a spliff amongst brazaas whom where likened to your brothers...I am from THAT Natal, where the food was extraordinary, the people where not neighbours but family, you were a child of a village, a celebration was Easter, Eid, Diwali and Christmas, a child of various cultures and religions, a place where we laughed with the Swami in the morning whilst having tea with the Moulana in the afternoon...a place where brotherhood wasnt a word but a culture and sisterhood meant the same...a place that broke silence with its Vanakums, Namastes and Salaams....I am from that Natal...from the green hills beside me and my dusty football field in front...I am from that Natal...my home.

      So Shana let me tell you an amazing story. I used to follow a channel called "Food like Ammah used to make", the author is ex South African living in San Francisco, anyway a lot of what she wrote I could relate with however, it wasnt the "complete package". Fast forward to September 2020, I fell foul to Covid-19 in hospital, was in ICU for about 3 months under every machine made by man...however in the latter stages of my recovery I came across this channel called Perimas kitchen, that voice...those methods, it was me reliving my entire childhood and youth...with my memory tortured, I tried to see if Ammahs cooking was the same as Perimas, not even close...I realised that I had stumbled upon a gem, the living DNA of my forefathers culinary precision, this was the one I searched for..Perimas aided me into recovery, although not fully healed, its been my noisy companion daily, both in and out of hospital, and now when the world seems such a tiny place, Perimas is still there, when days are gloomy, painful, dark...Sol and Perimas are that constant cog of sanity in my life...after losing almost everything in life, albeit me being very educated, I still have Perimas snd those memories of home are what keep this ticker ticking....this is my success story snd one I hope will give hope to many whom have walked or continue walking this perilous journey of life.

      @@Randy7201 you'll never believe, but I too followed "food like Amma used to make" .... And truth be told, it doesn't compare to Perima's kitchen.
      Sorry to read about you bout with covid... It's robbed many out of livelihood and families.
      Your description of Natal is like a kid awaiting the school holidays in much anticipation.
      You should write a book 🙂 I would be the first to purchase your publication 🙂
