The band were always such a perfectionist great song
This song highlights how clean Neal Schon plays. There's none of the scratching sounds when he switches notes like with some guitarists unless he wants that sound. Because of how good Steve Perry is, a lot of people don't realize how good and tight the rest of the band is.

Steve Perry to me is the greatest singer ever, im listening to music over 60 yrs. Certainly there's many great singers but he's in a league of his own, sings difficult songs with ease and beautifully. The live version in Houston 1981 is the same as the studio version.

My number 1 favorite Band as a teenager my Grandmother and I would always love to watch MTV hoping that we would get to listen to a Journey music video. She absolutely loved Steve Perry's voice She said he sings beautifully.

This was a huge hit my junior year of high school, right when I began dating my first "love." We considered this to be "our song," apparently not realizing it's a breakup song. It is a beautiful tune. The guitar fadeout is perfect.

This was the first Journey song that featured keyboardist/guitarist Jonathan Cain who came over from The Babys.
It was from the 1981 album Escape.
Steve wrote it while driving, to Los Angeles, on a cassette player. He went to Jonathan's house where they finished it in one afternoon.
Fabulous vocals of Steve Perry and the wonderful accompaniment of a rockin band made for a great tune. Classic Journey. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and PNCombie. 👏👏🎶🎶👍👍

Neal Schon knows how to make a guitar wail and sing... almost like another vocalist. It really draws emotion.
Whose Cryin' Now, Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin and Anyway You Want It are my three favourite Journey songs. The Neal Schon guitar song is so smooth I only wish it was longer on the studio version. I have the specially cut Audiophile version of the Escape LP (original from its 1981 release date) and the sound reproduction quality is astounding, CD quality about one year before CDs became available commercially.

Harri, you might want to watch the live version from the 1981 Escape Tour in Houston. Steve Perry is so animated and has an incredible stage presence, and Neal Schon's extended guitar solo at the end is one of the best you'll hear.
Great song. Takes me way back. I recall watching a V-Jay on MTV refer to them as the American Led Zeppelin. Vocals like Robert Plant makes you take notice. Steve Perry's 4 octave range made songs hits. Neal Shon on Guitar a child prodigy played with Jeff Beck and Santana before starting Journey. You have incedible drums by Steve Smith like John Bonham. Johnaton Cain on keyboards and guitar like John Paul Jones. 4 platinum albums and sell out concerts all in arenas to handle the volume of fans. Led Zeppelin and Journey stand the test of time and new generations discoving both bands

Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon did some backup vocals. Sometimes hard to hear because of Steve's powerful, beautiful voice. He can sing from quiet to powerful.
You can hear the Sam Cooke come out of his vocals for sure on this song. Sam was a great inspiration to Steve.
