Stupidity..... Mom should be charging with negligence!
Based on how she talks, I'm so shocked that's their FIRST time riding an elevator. Cause honestly, the whole world knows not to put their hands on the door. Another embarrassing moment for New Jersey.
Typical entitled "Karen" response; I can't watch my kids, so if they get hurt somebody else is to blame! No common sense, suing for money for their lack of parenting!

Seriously, how is this the elevator's fault? All elevators work that way. This woman was not watching her kids at all. Who is the lawyer who told her she had a great case?

Terrifying ordeal! They're lucky the lift didn't begin descending with the door open or else it would have been more tragic. However, no money should be awarded. The child should not have placed her hand on the door. It's no one's fault but her own.
That's the problem, we live in a society where we blame everyone but ourselves for crap we cause. And today's society is so addicted to lawsuits and money.
I know not to put my hand in the elevator opening. What was this mother doing when her child stuck her arm in the elevator crack? Some people would sue for anything, including why the air they breathe is not regulated by the government

Oh my God.
We were always told not to stand in the way of automatic doors or elevators as they opened or closed and keep our fingers away from doors. Same thing with escalators. Not sure why this mom wasn’t watching her kid and telling her not to stand near or push on the door. The elevator was doing what it was supposed to do. But let’s blame the company!🤦🏻♀️ no one takes responsibility.

Of course they will, she's a pretty blonde white woman and it made news. The company will loose more money if they refuse to pay compensation.
Also, I at first thought this was going to be a stupid "karen" story, but as someone whos career is in hotel management - it should not be that easy for someone, even a child, to get their arm stuck and dragged into the door frame like that.

sensors that won't let the door open if anything is crossing a certain plane. Like garage door openers have, but a full invisible curtain, not just one beam.

So this Ruby Franke clone wants to sue the elevator company because she's a terrible mother. I guess she figures that if McDonald's can be sued successfully for serving hot coffee, she has a good chance with her frivolous lawsuit as well. Maybe she can also file a lawsuit against candle makers next time her kid puts its hand on a candle flame.
