- In this episode we head back to one of our favourite campsites in all of Australia, South Lefroy Bay Campground on the World Heritage listed Ningaloo Coastline! This place is AMAZING!! South Lefroy Bay Campground is a total bucket list item for anyone travelling through Western Australia if you have a capable 4WD. Why do you need a 4WD you say, well, 5 minutes into this video and you will see! Some of the sand gets very soft! Yes… we got bogged, and it was all down to my stupidity… But we got out after an epic 4 hour recovery and enjoyed 3 incredible weeks at South Lefroy, sometimes having the entire place to ourselves! Enjoy. 😊
Stayed a lot calmer than I would have in that bog 😂 incredible spot, beautiful footage!
Haha, thanks guys! Yeh was calm during recovery as there is not much else you can do. Was a bit angry with myself for getting bogged in the first place though! We are usually so careful. 👍🍻😀
Hey guys. been watching you for years finally worked up the courage to write. I really look forward to Friday afternoons end of the working week and vet in a van. I appreciate the time and effort that goes into making these episodes and the photographically is sensation . Just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you safe travels . Cheers
Hi Robert, thanks for your kind words! Glad you enjoy the content, we love making it. Cinematography is a bit of a hobby of mine so i really enjoy sticking the videos together. Hopefully many more to come! 👍👍😀😀🍻🍻
God I was cheering you guys out! Beer o'clock! Thanks for the no frills footage and the time it takes putting these together.
The beer after that recovery was one of the best I ever had.. 🍻🍻
@@VetinaVan 😂😂
That was a decent bogging 😂. South Leroy all to yourselves and no wind, unheard of! Such a spectacular spot, and love the sign for the turtle nests ❤️
Yeh mate, we were super lucky to have a few amazing 'glass out' days. It can be hit and miss with the wind that time of year. 🍻👍
First comment! bloody oath what a sick video and spot!
Haha, thanks guys, its gota be somewhere in the top 10! 👍👍🍻🍻
@@VetinaVan haha the thumbnail on this got me straight away like we spoke about hahah! look at the result! good on ya legends!!
Lol, Tania and I were talking about it before i put the vid up, you may have got a mention in said discussion... i call it tactfully striking the balance between factual accuracy and click bait.... 🍻🍻🍻🍻🤣🤣🤣
hahaha ours is the same thumbnail but I wrote "I F'd up" haha
Lol, it could have been worse! 🍻🍻
Superb effort to free yourselves with no one around to help and letting us into your lives to watch . Superb photography in a superb part of the world . Interested to know which month you were there ?
Thanks Fleur, we were there late February, and we got super lucky with the weather until the cyclone booted us out. 😀👍
Awesome Ep and fish guys and well done on getting out of that bog
Thanks mate, yeh that's probably the worst we have bogged since we started travelling! Should have never tried to turn in there! 👍🍻🍻
You were so lucky with the weather. Another great episode, hope you're all well 😊
Yup we were!! Got our share of windy days, but they were well worth it for the glass outs! 🍻👍🍻👍
Really love your videos! This one was great, one of our fav places on the planet. South Lefroy 😍
Thanks guys, yup how good is South Lefroy! Was great to have it pretty much to ourselves for 3 weeks! 😀😀👍👍🍻🍻
Great video loved chilling back watching you guys last night.
Top spot but geez it can certainly become very boggy in areas throughout if you’re not careful.
Nice to have it to yourselves plus have a boat to enjoy the waters, the colour is simply stunning 🩵🩵
Thanks guys! Hopefully catch ya on the road again soon!! 🍻😀👍
Great vid and the reality of getting these places to yourself.. I was fortunate to have a mate to Winch off at winderabandi haha
Keep the great content coming!
Thanks mate, yup would have been handy to have another vehicle around, but we are pretty well prepared. It just means the whole exercise takes a bit longer! 🍻🍻👍👍
Beautiful footage! Nice work guys x
Thanks guys! 😀👍🍻
Another great ep! You're right about Arnhem Land ruining fishing for the rest of Australia for you. Must be counting down for your next trip to Nhulunbuy.
Yeah, for sure, looking like it will be 2026 before we are back out on Elcho Island at this stage. We can't wait!!🚤🐟👍🍻
Awesome recovery your so brave to tow your van in
Haha, thanks mate, some would say brave, and i think Tania said stupid. it's a fine balance.. Thank goodness we got out. There was no one else around, so if that last try didn't work, we were camping there! 🍻🍻👍👍
@VetinaVan I thought that would be the case. Your all looking healthy and happy. Bring on winter in WA. Im currently in windy hot gero waiting for July on the gibb. Cheers
July on the Gibb will be amazing!! 🍻🍻
Great spot. Loved our time there
Yup, it's one of our favourites! 👍🍻
Hey guys, how lucky to have the place to yourselves - magic! We were curious about your boat & where you store/tow it with your van?
It's a magic place, and to get good weather too, we were super lucky. I bought the boat on Exmouth buy, swap and sell, used it for 8 weeks, then sold it again for almost what i paid for it back in Exmouth, so glad we did! Just meant 2 trips to the next campsite. 👍🍻
@@VetinaVanWow that’s a great idea - having a tinny there was next level. We camped at Winderbandi & North Lefroy and fell in love with the place May 2023. We actually camped at Stevens Camp after watching your YT before heading over to WA early last year. Happy travels!
Yeh how good is it! We will be back for sure! Safe travels! 👍🍻🤙
Thanks again such a nice place.
It really is! Pitty we had to leave early, but im sure we'll be back!😀👍🍻
Hey guys. what a beautiful spot and I love that you sign posted where the turtle eggs lay. Do you mind telling me the brand of your oven? We have a Smev in our van and it only reaches 150 degrees C tops. Thanks so much 😃
We have a Thetford caprice mkIII, bakes quite well, but heats the van up a bit! Hopefully in early April, there will be people at site 15 in South Lefroy that get to witness those turtles hatching! 😀😀👍👍🐢🐢
@@VetinaVan thanks for that. Our oven heats up our van too. Ideally I’d like to remove our oven and put in a couple of gas burners and have something portable to use for baking. Haven’t found something right as yet.
Oh I hope so too that someone gets to see the turtles hatch. I loved seeing them on your video. They’re so cute and boy they have their work cut out for them.
Our biggest regret is rushing the west coast and not using the boat around Coral 6 and Exmouth! Such amazing water and marine life
Time to start planning the next trip! We still haven't done the Gibb after doing the West Coast twice! It just means we have good reason to come back! It's on the list. It's a long list.. 👍😉😉
G’day Marcus - long time no see. …I’m currently mid north coast NSW myself. Ummm…looks like fun but did you try dropping tyre pressures even further? (Few psi makes a huge difference)
Hey mate! Yeh we thought about going down to 10, but the problem was the angle, aka, i f'ed up... i didn't get the van wide enough, so it was piviting on the axils taking traction out of the equation. If we could pull out straight, i would have dropped them almost to flat, but the pivot angle made the likelyhood of popping the bead too high. I could not get the car and van in a position where they would be in a straight line, forwards or backwards, even after unhitching. So the angle meant i was just pushing the drawbar. Total brain malfunction on my part, must be getting old! Hope all is well! 🍻🍻👍
Yeah makes sense or you mean you should have listened to Tania! 15:00 😂. All ended well and good fun anyway. Stay safe and well - DB
Thanks mate, you too! 🍻🍻
First time viewer here. Love your content. How do you take your boat when travelling? Roof mount?
Thanks! We don't travel with a boat currently but if we are going to spend a few months at a place like we did at Exmouth, then i keep an eye on the buy, swap and sell pages for a cheep boat to flip. Sold this one for around the same price i bought it for when we left after 8 weeks. Just did 2 trips when we moved sites. 👍👍🍻🍻🚤🐟
@VetinaVan as I watched other videos.of yours I started to realise that was what you were doing. Good idea. I'm planningbto put my boat on the roof and take it with me. It's only a 13ft tinny. Thanks for replying I subbed up today. I'm a bit of a vlogger too with a new channel. My vids are a bit random but I have some recent overseas stuff on there and regularly posting new stuff. Were doing Augusta in the SW WA in 2 weeks I've got a dive trip in Timor lined up for end of April. I'd love it if you flip over and have a look and give me your thoughts on my travel vids. Thanks again and I'll be watching out for your new vids.
Just started watching your adventures
Sorry if it’s already been covered but how do you get your boat around
All good, we dont usually have a boat. I have a bigger one up in East Arnhem Land, but for Exmouth I bought one from the local buy, swap and sell. Sold it 8 weeks later for just under what I paid for it. Did two trips when moving camp, best decision as we got so much use out of it. Just see it as a super cheap hire! Hope you enjoyed the vid. 🍻👍🤙🚤
Great Video mate, where do you keep and carry the boat, it seemed to come from nowhere.
Thanks mate, it did kinda come from nowhere! I swore next time we went back to Ningaloo i was taking a boat. And given we cant fit one 'currently' i picked one up on Exmouth buy, sway and sell when we got there. Sold it 8 weeks later for just under what i paid for it. Just meant i did two trips, but all the campsites are close together! Was totally worth it! And good motivation to include a boat in the next upgrade. 👍👍🍻🐟🚤
@@VetinaVan thats the way to go. Keep up the vids.
Love your episodes. Just wondering how you get your boat to sites?
Thanks! We flipped that boat in Exmouth as we were hanging around the area for 8 weeks. Just did 2 trips each time we moved as the camps on Ningaloo are very close together. Sold the boat again before we left for around the same price as i bought it. 🍻😀
Joys of beach camping
I use a ratchet stap or bit of rope on my maxtrax so i don't loose them poke it through 1 of the holes
Absolutely! I had the orange straps for the maxtrax in the car, with all the commotion, I forgot to attach them! Gave the kids a mission the next day. 🍻🍻
Where did that boat come from? was it inside your trailer?
Hey mate, I bought the boat on Exmouth buy, swap and sell, used it for 8 weeks, then sold it again for almost what I paid for it back in Exmouth, so glad we did! Just meant 2 trips to the next campsite. If we are staying in one place for a while, I'll usually flip a boat. That being said, building the new setup now which will mean we have a boat all the time. 🍻🍻
that boat and trailer looks very familiar.
Possibly done the rounds on the Exmouth buy, swap and sell a few times! 😉👍🍻
seen the trailer parked up in the empty camp grounds out there.@@VetinaVan
Yeh that one has been there for a while, think it's still there! Mine came back to Exmouth and was sold with the boat!
where was your boat attached? or was there another vehicle
We only had the boat while we were in Exmouth, it was still at Winderabandi as we drove the van over first, did a second trip after to go pick it up. 🍻🍻
❤toitlessss❤
where did the boat and trailer come from they weren't on top of car or van
Hey mate, bought it on the local buy, swap and sell, used for 8 weeks, then sold again for around the same price. 🚤🤙👍🍻
so you stayed at that beach for 8 weeks@@VetinaVan
Yup, three campsites, but they were only around 30 mins from eachother so i just did 2 trips when we moved.
4hrs of BOGARAMA = 20 Beers, just sayin’😂
At least!!!
